‘Sticker DMK’: TN Govt tries to take claim for Centre’s rescue efforts of Indians stranded in Ukraine

Living up to their legacy, the DMK government in Tamil Nadu has once again resorted to taking claims for the work done by the BJP-led Central government by stamping its sticker over Government of India’s efforts to rescue Indians stranded in Ukraine.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been assisting in the evacuation of Indian nationals from Ukraine with MEA teams being sent to the land borders with Ukraine in Hungary, Poland, Slovak Republic and Romania.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 24 spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed India’s concerns regarding the safety of the Indian citizens in Ukraine, especially students, and conveyed his priority to ensure safe exit of them from the war-torn country of Ukraine.

Following this Air India has been going on rescue missions to evacuate the citizens from Ukraine in batches. Many of them have already landed in India.

It was also announced that Indian students and nationals would not have to pay money for the tickets as the cost is being borne by the Central Government.

Despite the announcement, the MK Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu has resorted to politicking saying that the state government would bear the cost of ‘Tamil Nadu students’.

DMK Minister Gingee Masthan said that students returned back to Tamil Nadu because of efforts taken by CM Stalin.

The mainstream media and the DMK-friendly social media channels in Tamil Nadu too have been playing the fiddle to peddle the narrative that the state government under the Chief Ministership of Stalin is rescuing students.

This has created an uproar on social media with many lashing out at the DMK that it is was unfortunate of the state government to do petty politics by ‘pasting stickers’ for Centre’s efforts.

Emir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Arshad Madani calls hijab mandatory in Islam

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a leading organisations of Islamic scholars belonging to the Deobandi school of thought has made it categorical that the hijab is mandatory in Islam and stopping Muslim students from wearing it was against Article 25 of the Constitution which guarantees freedom of practising religion.

This declaration was made during a meeting of its Working Committee of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind led by the Arshad Madani faction.

He also said that Muslim children are in need of schools and colleges in which they can get higher education in a environment without any hindrance or discrimination.

The whole right to wear hijab started in Karnataka where a bunch of girls demanded that they should be allowed to wear this piece of clothing inside the classroom and now Madani who is an influential Islamic cleric known to provide lawyers to terror suspects said some “so-called educated people are giving a wrong impression that hijab is not obligatory in Islam and there is nothing mentioned about it in the Quran,”.

“There are Islamic guidelines on hijab in the Holy Quran and Hadith which clearly say that hijab is mandatory in Shariah,” Madani said.

The leader of this Islamist organisation called the hijab issue constitutional and said the prohibition of Muslim students from wearing the hijab is against Article 25 of the Constitution which gives rights to minorities and pointed out India has no state religion and it gives complete freedom to all citizens to practice their religion.

Though the Karnataka High Court concluded the hearing related to the ‘hijab’ case on Friday, it however decided to reserve its order.

A judicial Bench was constituted on February 9 comprising the Chief Justice, Justice Krishna S Dixit, and Justice Jaibunnisa M Khazi heard this case on a day-to-day basis over the last two weeks.

The whole hijab row started when a group of Muslim girls was allegedly denied entry into a pre-university college for girls in Udupi in December because wearing a hijab is violating the dress code.

India looking to set up a rupee payment mechanism with Russia to bypass sanctions

As the Russian offensive continues against Ukraine, the Indian government is giving serious consideration to setting up a rupee payment mechanism with Russia to bypass the western sanctions imposed on Moscow, Reuters reports.

Russia which is now under a siege of sanctions is one of the major suppliers of fertilisers to India and now it is important that India looks at how it can continue to receive supplies as the ongoing conflict with Ukraine seems to last a little while longer.

India is now working on a plan to ensure that Russian banks and companies open accounts with some state-run Indian banks for a trade settlement and funds in these accounts will be a guarantee of payment for the trade exchanged between India and Russia.

Also, both India and Russia will barter commodities to offset the amount, and “This is a proactive move assuming that the conflict escalates and there could be a slew of sanctions in place,”.

It added, “In this case we would not be able to settle the transaction in dollars and so an arrangement has been proposed to set up a rupee account, which is being considered.”India has in the past used this method of transaction for trades with Iran after the middle-eastern country when it came under Western sanctions for its nuclear weapons program. However, discussions with Russia are still at a preliminary stage.

Sanjay Raut, Ram Guha, Pratap Banu Mehta distance themselves from Audrey Truschke’s letter against Vikram Sampath

On February 24, controversial professor of Rutgers University Audrey  Truschke claimed that more than 75 ‘concerned scholars’ had signed an open letter expressing their support to her and other historians including Ananya Chakravarti and Rohan Chopra.

The letter claimed that there was hate campaign being driven against them by ‘right-wing social media networks’ and asked support from scholars. This comes in the light of the setback they received after the Delhi High Court passed an ad-interim order restraining Audrey Truschke, Ananya Chakravarti and Rohit Chopra from publishing defeamatory content alleging plagiarism against historian Vikram Sampath in relation to his works on Veer Savarkar.

The signatories of this letter purpotedly included alleged ‘historian’ Ramchandra Guha, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, rabid Islamic Fundamentalist Zakir Naik, Pratap Bhanu Mehta, etc.

However, many of those who Truschke claimed to be signatories have distanced themselves from the letter.

https://twitter.com/Tathagat_Kumar_/status/1497912198777434112

Tathagat Kumar is a student at Delhi University whose name was also included in the list of ’75 concerned scholars’.

Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi earlier clarified that her colleague in the Rajya Sabha Sanjay Raut also did not sign any such letter by Truschke.

Noted historian Vikram Sampath has been facing a volley of attacks from Truschke and her likes after he came out with his two-part magnum opus on freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.

The alleged ‘historians’ and leftist academicians have been accusing him of plagiarism regarding his 2017 essay and his two-volume biography of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar which has been proved false.

“Another Drama From DMK’s Toolkit?”: Unravelling The Truth About CM Stalin Allotting House To Muslim boy’s family

A few days ago a clip of a school kid talking about ‘humanity’ went viral on social media. The clip is part of a vox pop video released by a YouTube channel where the anchor asks the question “Whom do you hate the most?”.

The reply to this question by this school kid who was later identified as ‘Abdul Kalam had received social media attention. The kid said “Do not hate anyone. Many people call me as ‘palla’ (the guy with the teeth). Why should I hate them? Everybody are like friends to me. Why should we be divided?”.

The anchor when he probes further, the boy says that one should empathize with people who are of bad influence and not be judgemental about them.

This clip had gone viral on social media with DMK MLA from Mannargudi and the party’s newly inducted IT wing head TRB Rajaa, the son of DMK MP T.R Baalu.

What was a casual harmless vox pop was given a communal colour by DMK MLA TRB Rajaa who identified the boy to be the son of a Muslim studying in a Christian school. One wonders how the DMK IT Wing head knew about the background of the child just a day after the video went viral. Or was it made viral by the DMK IT wing head himself?

On the same day TRB Rajaa had shared the vox pop video clip on his profile, Galatta Voice, a YouTube channel that is considered to peddle narratives favourable to the ruling DMK released a video which shows the boy’s school – St. Lazarus Middle School located in Madha Church Road in R.A. Puram area of Chennai). The correspondent of the school seated along with the nun and the boy talk about the value system they inculcate in their school. Is this is to counter the narrative set by the BJP against the Lavanya suicide case? We don’t know.

In another video released by Behindwoods, the boy’s mother says that her family is being asked to vacate their home where they’re currently staying. She said that the boy becoming a overnight sensation could be a reason for that. Soon, oOther YouTube channels like IBC Tamil, India Glitz, etc., who tow the line of the DMK too jumped the bandwagon in building the narrative around this boy and his family.

Following this, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on February 24 met the boy and his family on Februray 24.

DMK IT Wing head TRB Rajaa is believed to have facilitated this visit.

The next day on February 25, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi while participating at the 125th anniversary celebrations of St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School in Chennai presented a check for ₹25,000 as scholarship to  Abdul Kalam.

Following this, CM Stalin announced that he has issued an order allocating a house to the boy’s family at the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board in K.K. Nagar, Chennai.

However, it is to be noted that the allotted house was constructed under the Pradha Matri Awas Yojana (Housing For All – Urban), a flagship initiative of Government of India to provide housing for the urban poor.

What is even more surprising is that the house had reportedly been allocated under PM Awas Yojana in the September of last year itself.

Many on social media pointed how the sequence of events is very similar to the episode of a Narikuravar woman who alleged that she was denied food in temple. Like how Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi sat with the boy, HR&CE Minister S culminated in CM Stalin visiting her house and giving the community pattas and ration cards. This episode came in the backdrop of the release of Suriya-starrer Jai Bhim.

Was the kid Abdul Kalam part of yet another toolkit of DMK?

The Police has registered the case against all three accused and arrested Ansari for sexually abusing a girl. While the investigation is underway, the Police said to OpIndia that they are searching for the other two persons who also made several attempts to rape the girl.

According to the reports, the three accused abducted the girl who had left her house for visiting the washroom at around 10 PM on Wednesday. One of them, Mussafar Ansari pushed her behind the well and raped her while the other two made attempts to exploit her after Ansari. The girl was then thrown into the well and was taken out by the nearby local people who gathered around after she screamed for help from inside the well. The family of the girl had till then began searching for her as she had not returned for a long time.

The girl informed her mother and her aunt about the incident and later lodged a complaint at the Domchanch Police Station the next day. “The girl said that she doesn’t know the other two people who accompanied Ansari. We have arrested Ansari after the girl identified him from her village”, the Police personnel said who refused to name himself.

Minor girl allegedly forced to convert religion at child care, Christian missionary NGO files sexual abuse case against mother

A case of evangelical coercion has emerged wherein the Delhi High Court had to issue a notice in a petition filed by a minor’s mother, who has alleged that social workers of two Christian missionary NGOs namely – Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief and Prayas allegedly indoctrinated her Hindu child into Christianity.

If that was not enough they also filed sexual assault case against the minor’s mother, reports Law Beat.

The mother of the petitioner has now testified in court that after converting her child to Christianity without her consent, the NGOs resorted to abuse and exploit her for more than five months while she was in a Child Care Institution (CCI) managed by Global Family Charitable Trust.

The aggrieved mother told the court that her minor daughter was “trapped” by the social workers by the Christian NGO and filed a false FIR of sexual abuse against her that led to her child being produced before the Child Welfare Committee after five days, in direct contravention of Rule 81 (1) of The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Model Rules, 2016.

The mother expressed her outrage against the CWC’s misuse of authority and unchecked actions, which resulted in more than five months of exploitation in a Child Care Institution by numerous NGOs, as well as forced indoctrination of the child in Christianity in the Child Care Institution (CCI).

She further claimed that the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 have resulted in “a denial of justice to the petitioner and her daughter, as well as a violation of the fundamental rights provided by the Indian Constitution.”

DMK’s ‘atheism’ goes for a toss as TN Govt brands Sivarathri festival to be held at Mylapore Kapali Temple

The Tamil Nadu Hindu Charitable & Endowments (HR&CE) department has claimed that for the first time ever, the Maha Sivarathri festival at the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore would be held with great pomp and show.

The poster shared by the HR&CE department reads states that various events would be held from the 6 PM on 1st March 2022 till the morning of the next day for the first time ever in history on the occassion of Maha Sivarathri.

It said that devotional music, darshan of Lord Siva, debates, Tamil Bhakti music, Bharatanatyam, devotional songs and folks songs would be there in the festival.

The poster has the images of Chief Minister MK Stalin and the late DMK patriarch Karunanidhi, both of whom are known for their anti-Hindu remarks, at the top and the image of HR&CE Minister Sekar Babu at the bottom.

However, it is to be noted that, contrary to the claims of ‘first time ever in history’, the Mahashivratri festival happens in a grand manner every year in all Sivan temples under the HR&CE department including the Kapaleeswarar Temple.

Political commentators say that the branding of Sivarathri festival by the DMK government is to be seen against the backdrop of the growth of BJP in Tamil Nadu.

Others point out that a ‘secular’ government cannot control and administer the affairs of one religion alone (Hinduism) while not interfering in the affairs of other faiths.
