Vijay TV has issued a clarification after remarks made by actor and Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 host Vijay Sethupathi on leadership sparked a debate on social media, as reported in DinaMani.
The latest season of Bigg Boss Tamil premiered on September 6, with Vijay Sethupathi returning as the host. During Saturday’s episode, Sethupathi was discussing contestant Shadhika’s leadership and made remarks about the responsibilities of a leader.
“A person who does not know what leadership means, does not understand the responsibility that comes with being a leader, makes several promises and, when problems arise, blames the opposing team and runs away — that is not leadership. It is cheating,” Sethupathi said.
He further remarked that a chair was present in every household, but acquiring one brought power, which could become an intoxicating influence.

The comments quickly went viral on social media, with viewers and users expressing both support and criticism over Sethupathi’s remarks. Some interpreted his comments as referring to political leadership, especially given the MISA controversy taking its head after Chief Minister Joseph Vijay made remarks and actions in the Assembly against MK Stalin, triggering further discussion online.
Amid the controversy, Vijay TV issued a clarification stating that Bigg Boss Tamil is an entertainment programme and that its rules, format and themes are designed around a game environment.
“The incidents that take place in the programme, the contestants’ conversations and opinions, and the issues that arise between them should all be viewed as part of the competition,” the channel said.

The channel further clarified that comments or incidents featured in the programme should not be understood as referring to or commenting on any individual or organisation outside the show.
“Everything that happens in the programme should be understood solely from the perspective of entertainment,” Vijay TV said.
