The TN Assembly seems to be crackling with the sound of blast of a debate on 7 September 2026, especially after TN CM Joseph Vijay making an unhinged attack on MK Stalin on the history of MISA.
Speaking in the Assembly, he said, “We should maintain a political decency and decorum at least to an extent. After that, it is up to them—whether they choose to accept it or leave it. Whenever our friends speak, they keep bringing up MISA—”We witnessed MISA, we experienced MISA.” I really do not know what to say to that. Respected elders, everyone is well aware of the history regarding MISA; the people are watching everything—what happened in the past, what is happening now, and what is yet to come. Are we going to pass a comment worse than the people?”
He added, “The poet Kannadasan once described the DMK in a short and sweet manner: “A lie told out of habit, a hand accustomed to receiving, and a bag accustomed to being used (to put money)”—that is the DMK; that is the DMK.”
