Israeli jeweller makes world’s most expensive mask worth ₹11 crore

An Israeli jeweller named Isaac Levy has made the world’s most expensive mask worth ₹11 crores, with diamond-encrusted in gold. It has reportedly been ordered by an anonymous Chinese millionaire living in the US. The millionaire had had two requests: that the mask should be done by the end of the year and that it should be the priciest mask in the world.

It is said to be made using 18-carat gold and will be decorated with 3600 white and black diamonds, fitted with N99 filters. Notably, this mask is to weigh 275 grams and would be an impractical accessory to wear since it is 100 times the weight of a surgical mask.

“Money maybe doesn’t buy everything, but if it can buy a very expensive COVID-19 mask and the guy wants to wear it and walk around and get the attention, he should be happy with that,” Levy said. “I am happy that this mask gave us enough work for our employees to be able to provide their jobs in very challenging times like these times right now,” he said.

Notably, images of a similar ‘gold mask’ made the rounds in the early months of the lockdown, as several Indian businessmen from places like Pune and Cuttack went viral for their golden face masks. One cost Rs 2.8 lakh while the other cost Rs 3.8 lakh.
