Professional stuntman Ricky Ash proposed to his girlfriend and now fiance Katrina Dobson while ‘on fire’. Notably, she is a nurse who has been working at the coronavirus unit at William Harvey Hospital in Kent, England.
This was apparently a gimmick by Ricky to make the proposal memorable. Ricky accomplished this stunt by spraying himself with an accelerant that would set him momentarily ablaze for just enough time to you say “Will you marry me, Katrina”. The Daily Mail reported that his girlfriend had been so dumbstruck that she could not even get out the word yes from her mouth. The images of this iconic proposal went viral.
Ricky had apparently invited his girlfriend by tricking her saying that they had to shoot a piece on a nurse who was finding love during the pandemic. In fact, they had met and gone on their first date right before the pandemic. Following the imposition of lockdown, they had not had the chance to meet as much and had been corresponding online thus far.
Ricky has been a stunt double for 27 years working on countless commercials, television programmes and films, alongside A-listers including Richard Burton and Johnny Depp. He had said that he hoped his dramatic proposal rewarded his wife-to-be for her tireless work during the pandemic.
