TVK’s First Mega Scam? CM Joseph Vijay Left Red-Faced As Petition By TVK Lawyer Alleges ₹80 Crore Govt Pleader Appointment Racket

Joseph Vijay Promised 'Won't Take A Rupee, Won't Let Others Take It', TVK Woman Advocate Alleges ₹30 Lakh Bribes In Govt Pleader Appointments

A petition has been filed before the Madras High Court alleging large-scale irregularities and bribery in the recent appointments of government pleaders across Tamil Nadu. The petitioner has claimed that individuals holding key positions in the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) allegedly collected substantial sums of money in exchange for securing appointments.

According to the petition, the appointments were allegedly influenced through the recommendations of TVK district secretaries rather than being made solely on merit. The petitioner has further alleged that rates ranging from ₹25 lakh to ₹1 crore were fixed for various appointments, resulting in collections exceeding ₹80 crore across the state.

The petition further claims that the alleged collection drive extended to several districts, including Coimbatore, Vellore and Salem. It alleges that ministers serving as district secretaries, along with other district secretaries and MLAs, acted in concert and shared the proceeds generated through the alleged scheme.

The case has been filed by a woman lawyer associated with TVK’s Villupuram district legal wing. The petitioner has also claimed that party president C. Joseph Vijay was informed about the alleged collection racket even before the matter reached the High Court and was reportedly angered by the information placed before him. According to the petition, discussions have since emerged within the party’s Panaiyur headquarters, with some party functionaries reportedly remarking that any fight against corruption must begin within the organisation itself.

The petition also alleges that intelligence inputs suggested that, amid the alleged horse-trading surrounding the appointments, several TVK MLAs were prepared to defect to rival political parties after allegedly accepting large sums of money. The petitioner claims that these developments have left the party leadership shocked.
