The Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has expelled Vembuli, its Alandur North Area Secretary, from all party positions, including primary membership, following allegations of repeated sexual assault of a widow in Parangimalai, Chennai, as reported in Daily Thanthi.
A complaint was filed by the woman at the Parangimalai police station, leading to the registration of a case under provisions related to crimes against women. Police sources confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.
In response to the allegations, Saravanan, MLA and TVK District Secretary for Chennai Suburbs, announced Vembuli’s immediate removal. A statement issued by the party on Tuesday (June 10, 2026) said: “Vembuli, who served as the Alandur North Area Secretary for the Alandur Assembly constituency (part of the Chennai Suburban District), is being immediately removed from all positions he held, including his primary party membership, effective today. This action is taken because he engaged in activities contrary to party discipline and acted in a manner that tarnished the party’s reputation.”
The statement further clarified that Vembuli no longer has any association with the TVK. “He is not permitted to engage in any activities using the party’s name, flag, symbol, or administrative authority. The party will not be held responsible for any actions undertaken by him. Party office bearers, members, and cadres are requested not to maintain any party-related contact with him,” it said.
