Chennai police are investigating a provocative remark allegedly made by a DMK supporter as former DMK School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi was being taken into custody by the Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) in connection with an alleged ₹100 crore corruption case involving private school approvals.
A video circulating on social media captures a supporter making a remark referring to Karur, followed by repeated chants of “Neethi vellum” (justice will prevail) and slogans against the ruling establishment. Police are attempting to identify the individual and establish the context of the statement.
The remark, reportedly heard as, “Leader, if you had dealt with him in Karur itself that day, would things have come to this situation today?”
Caught red handed on camera!
“Karurல அன்னைக்கே அவனைப் போட்டிருந்தா..”
Watch how they quickly stop talking when they realize the camera is rolling.

Police are examining whether the remark refers to the crowd crush during TVK leader Vijay’s event in Karur or to a possible political confrontation linked to the incident.
Anbil Mahesh was arrested by the Chennai CCB following allegations that money was collected from private educational institutions on the promise of securing government licences, approvals and other clearances. Investigators have reportedly identified 177 schools that may have been affected by the alleged scheme.
The arrest followed the Madras High Court’s rejection of his anticipatory bail plea. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody and sent to prison.
