The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) is facing online backlash over a promotional video for its “Chalo Dilli” rally after a scene showing a boy secretly photographing girls triggered criticism on social media.
The teaser video, released to promote the organisation’s November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, uses the trending background track “Lemonade” by Forrest Frank and features stylised, casual visuals.
However, the video opens showing a young boy pointing a phone or camera at girls to take their pictures without their knowledge has drawn sharp criticism on Instagram and Facebook.
Kinda chic tho 🤌

The inclusion of the scene in a political campaign by the Congress seems to want to normalise non-consensual photographing, stalking and harassment of women. For a party which talks about smashing patriarchy, this is hypocrisy – to promote a rally while using imagery that seems to objectify women.
