Isha Foundation holds special Yoga programs in 26 prisons across TN

 A 3-day Yoga program, Uyirnokkam, conducted by Isha Foundation in 26 prisons Tamil Nadu has drawn over 1000 participants including inmates, wardens and other prison officials in the state. Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Shri. Sunil Kumar Singh, IPS, supported Isha teachers – who have been trained by Sadhguru – in holding the 3-day sessions which began on 30th May and will continue till 18th June.

The sessions are being held in Central Prisons for Men, Special Prisons for Women and District Prisons in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Palayankottai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Salem, Villupuram, Nagercoil among other districts.

Participants are taught simple, yet powerful yogic practices such as Yoga Namaskar and Nadi Shuddhi which improve spine health, relieve joint pains and alleviate stress when practiced regularly. The yogic practices enhance overall wellbeing including physical, mental and emotional health.

The Prison Yoga Program has been specially designed by Sadhguru for inmates. Over the last 30 years, the Special Yoga Program for Prisons has touched tens of thousands of prisoners in India and the United States. Many prison inmates have testified to the program’s transformative power.
