As many as 501 members of tribal communities in Kerala have returned to their ancestral faith, the Hindu fold and traditions through an initiative involving the Hindu Seva Kendram and the Kerala Adivasi Samrakshana Samiti.
Hindu Seva Kendram founder Pratheesh Vishwanath described the development as a return to the community’s ancestral faith, culture, identity and heritage. He also said that the tribal communities had faced conversion efforts over the years, including efforts supported by foreign funding and significant financial resources.
Despite such efforts, the community’s connection with its Hindu faith and customs remained intact.
The initiative is more than a religious reconnection, with this representing a return to the communities’ cultural roots and traditional identity.
The development can be attributed to the efforts of Hindu Seva Kendram and the Kerala Adivasi Samrakshana Samiti.
