Expelled 'Thooya Sakthi' TVK Functionary Accused In Sexual assault Case Seen Beside MLA At Official Event

A fresh controversy has erupted in the Alandur Assembly constituency after a former office-bearer of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), who was recently arrested and released on bail in a sexual assault case, was seen participating in a public grievance redressal camp attended by local MLA Harish, as reported in Nakkheeran.

The row centres around Vembuli, who had served as the TVK’s Alandur North Area Secretary until his removal from the post by the party leadership. Last month, a complaint was lodged with the Mount Police alleging that Vembuli had trespassed into the home of a widow in the Alandur area of Chennai and subjected her to sexual assault. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against him under provisions related to sexual assault and the Prevention of Atrocities Against Women Act. He was subsequently arrested and remanded to judicial custody, though he was later released on bail.

In the immediate aftermath of the allegations surfacing, the TVK party leadership acted swiftly, stripping Vembuli of his organisational post.

However, tensions flared when MLA Harish presided over a grievance redressal camp held in Zone 12 of the Alandur constituency. According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Vembuli was present at the venue and took part in the proceedings in a casual manner.
