DMK Lok Sabha MP Accused Of ‘Kicking’ Sacred Bricks, Abuses Own Party Cadres For Having Hindu Prayers At Bhoomi Pooja Ceremony

Amidst the furore over DMK MP A. Raja’s anti-Hindu comments, yet another Lok Sabha MP of the DMK has resorted to abusing the Hindu faith.

At a Bhoomi Pooja ceremony organized in his constituency, DMK MP from Dharmapuri S. Senthilkumar has reportedly kicked the sacred bricks and abused his own party cadres for conducting Bhoomi Pooja as per Hindu traditions.

A library is being constructed at a cost of ₹50 lakh on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government at the Vallal Athiyaman complex in Athiyamankottai near Dharmapuri.

Dharmapuri District Collector Shanthi, Dharmapuri MLA S.P. Venkateswaran, DMK MP Senthilkumar and others participated in the event.

DMK MP Senthilkumar is said to have kicked the sacred bricks laced with turmeric and vermilion kept for the Bhoomi Pooja opposing the Hindu rituals being conducted.

This reportedly led to a commotion with even DMK cadres objecting to the MP’s anti-Hindu and abusive behaviour. They said that it is better if the MP doesn’t come to such functions in future.

In a video shared widely on social media, the DMK MP while seated in his car can be seen abusing his  people for perfoming Bhoomi Pooja with Hindu rituals. He had angrily told the DMK’s Union Secretary Shanmugam to not call him for such event hence forth.

“I can tell once or twice. Do you want me to create a ruckus everytime? These wretched people!”, the DMK MP can be seen abusing as he leaves in his car.

Senior DMK member from Nalampalli Panchayat said that Senthilkumar had come and kicked the sacred bricks kept for the ceremony. He noted that the MP’s behaviour was very disrespectful and that the DMK cadres condemn this behaviour.

People also noted that they will give a befitting lesson when he comes asking for votes next time.

A report by The New Indian Express quoted the DMK MP saying that he won’t participate if there is a ‘Bhoomi Pooja’.

“I also specifically said that I will not participate if there is any saffron or turmeric painted on the brick. But the instructions were not followed. DMK practices Dravidian model and in this everyone must be included. Favouring one ceremony belonging to a particular religion is unfair.

He also noted that he stands by his actions and that he prefers not to be invited where such Bhoomi Pooja functions are held.

This is not the first time that the DMK MP had made a scene for organizing Bhoomi Pooja ceremony.

Earlier in July 2022, the DMK MP who had gone to attend a Bhumi Pooja function of a lake restoration project in his constituency blurted out at government officials and forcefully stopped the traditional Hindu prayers from happening in an attempt to ‘secularize’ the event.
