DMK Leader Mano Thangaraj Joins Nurses’ Protest, Is Caught Off Guard As They Chant Slogans Against MK Stalin

Former DMK Minister Mano Thangaraj appeared visibly bewildered during a nurses’ protest in Chennai after the protesters he had joined began raising slogans against former Chief Minister MK Stalin, as reported in Indian Express Tamil.

Thousands of nurses working as Intermediate Health Workers have been protesting near Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore since Tuesday morning, pressing for 15 demands including equal pay for equal work and permanent employment.

Thangaraj joined the demonstration to extend his support to the protesting nurses and even participated in their slogans.

However, the situation became awkward when the protesters began questioning the government over their employment status and raised the slogan:

“M.K. Stalin Didn’t Do It. Will the Chief Minister Do It?”

The protesters were demanding to know why nurses providing medical services were neither being treated as government employees nor private employees and why labour laws did not apply to them.

As the protesters suddenly began chanting “M.K. Stalin didn’t do it,” Thangaraj appeared to be caught off guard. The former minister stood among the protesters, seemingly unsure of how to react, even as the anti-Stalin slogan continued.

The irony was hard to miss: a former DMK minister had joined the protest to support the nurses, only to find himself standing alongside protesters who were openly criticising the previous DMK government.

A video showing Thangaraj’s bewildered reaction has since gone viral on social media.
