CPI(M)-Linked Subhash Chandran’s LAFC To Conduct “Independent” SIR Commission Is It Soros-Funded

A group calling itself the “Lawyers Association for Constitution” (LAFC) issued a press release on 2 October 2026, announcing the formation of a five-member “independent commission” of former Supreme Court and High Court judges to inquire into the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

But evidence compiled from public records and social media shows the organization is far from independent; its own media coordinator is a active Marxist political operative with deep ties to the CPI(M), and its official social media account follows a shortlist of accounts that includes George Soros’s Open Society Foundations.

The Media Coordinator: Subhash Chandran KR

LAFC’s press release lists a single media contact: “Mr Subhash Chandran KR”. He is described nowhere in the document as having any political affiliation. But public records tell a different story.

Subhash Chandran is not an independent media coordinator. He is an active leader in Marxist political circles and a frequent participant in CPI(M) and left-wing events across India.

Photographic evidence also places him at the All India General Council Meeting of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) in Surajkund, Faridabad, Haryana, held May 23–26, 2026, where he spoke.

Also seen participating in the pro-Palestine solidarity protest organized by the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO), Delhi State Committee.

A protest at Jantar Mantar organized by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), where he sat on the ground with student activists in front of banners demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the scrapping of the National Testing Agency, and an independent judicial probe into the NEET and CBSE exam scandals.

He has also posted about international travel, including a Facebook post captioned “Flying to Hong Kong from Jakarta,” with a photograph taken at Jakarta’s Soekarno–Hatta International Airport.

The Soros Link?

LAFC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, @lafcindia, follows only eight accounts.

Among them:

Open Society Foundations (@OpenSociety) – the “philanthropic ” network founded by George Soros, which has been accused by multiple governments in Eastern Europe of funding color revolutions and interfering in domestic politics. Governments in Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, and Poland have variously restricted or expelled Soros-funded organizations, citing threats to national sovereignty.

A True Communist? Think Again

For all the grandstanding that Marxist communists say about capitalism and imperialism, their personal lives and lived realities are far different from the values they claim to stand for. Here is an example from Subhash Chandran’s life itself. Criticizes America for imperialism but at the same time buys an Apple product.

A Pattern of Political Alignment

The combination of a Marxist media coordinator, a social media follow list that includes a foreign regime-change funder and a Pakistani student based in Germany, and the organization’s stated mission to investigate India’s electoral process raises serious questions about the true purpose of the LAFC “independent commission.”

The commission claims it will conduct “nationwide public hearings,” “empirical and field research,” and “legal scrutiny” of the SIR exercise, with a final report due by December 2026. It lists prominent lawyers including Congressis and AAP supporters such as Kapil Sibal, Prashant Bhushan, Chander Uday Singh, Prashanto Chandra Sen, Raju Ramachandran, Rebecca Mammen John, Warisha Farasat, and Vrinda Grover as providing “strategic legal advice.”

But the organization’s own media point person is a sitting participant in CPI(M) party congresses and street protests. Its social media account follows the world’s most prominent funder of foreign political interference. And its commission is being launched at a time when India faces a convergence of Marxist and Islamist pressure with foreign backing to create an environment for regime change.

The “independent commission” may have former judges on its letterhead, but the fingerprints on its organizational infrastructure belong to the political opposition.
