Ganja Wrecking Havoc In TN: Youngster Killed by Ganja Addicts In Krishnagiri, Another Injured In Attack

In a tragic incident in Krishnagiri, a young man lost his life while another sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a group of individuals under the influence of ganja and alcohol. The incident occurred in Thinnakazhani village near Krishnagiri.

Chinnathambi, a resident of Thinnakazhani village, confronted a group of youngsters who were consuming ganja and liquor near his house. According to eyewitnesses, Chinnathambi approached the group and questioned their presence, expressing concerns about recent cattle thefts in the area.

A heated argument ensued between Chinnathambi and the group of youngsters, leading to a scuffle. Chinnathambi’s son, Vetri, intervened, but the situation escalated quickly as the group attacked both Chinnathambi and Vetri.

Later, around 1 am, the attackers returned to Chinnathambi’s house on two-wheelers armed with weapons, including a bottle of rolling wood. Vetri’s friend, Karthik, who heard the commotion, attempted to intervene. However, his attempt to stop the attackers proved fatal as he was attacked and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Karthik’s father, Devaraj, who rushed to the scene upon hearing about the attack on his son, was also attacked and sustained severe head injuries. The attackers then fled the scene.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, prompting a swift response from the Krishnagiri taluk police. The police arrived at the scene, recovered Karthik’s body, and sent it to Krishnagiri Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem examination.

Devaraj, who was critically injured in the attack, has been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment. Karthik, the victim, worked as an electrician, had recently celebrated his first wedding anniversary, and his wife is currently pregnant.

Journalists documenting the assault were also attacked. Police arrested two suspects. In another case in Kannagi Nagar, a drug dealer and two under the influence instigated chaos, resulting in police intervention. The dealer bit an officer, while another wielded a knife. Locals intervened, aiding the police. Three individuals were arrested, highlighting the escalating issue of drug-related violence in the region.

“Different Rules For North & South”: EPS-Faction ADMK Leader Speaks DMK Language Against Central Govt

A senior leader of the EPS-faction of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK), Jeyakumar, has echoed the language of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), accusing the central government of discriminating against Tamil Nadu in devolution of funds. This unexpected move raises questions about why the ADMK, historically seen as the rival of the DMK, is now playing the same political game.

Jeyakumar, while addressing the media, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government, stating, “If we take the list from 2015, Tamil Nadu has asked for nearly ₹1.5 lakh crores for cyclone relief, as cyclones ravaged Chennai and Tamil Nadu. However, the central government has only allocated ₹7000 crores. Whether it’s the Congress or the BJP, the national parties ruling at the center have neglected Tamil Nadu. If similar cyclones had hit northern states of India, they would have received a lot more in relief funds. Tamil Nadu’s taxes should be utilized for Tamil Nadu’s welfare. Why there is different rules for North and South?”

This rhetoric closely resembles the usual stance of the DMK, which often criticizes the central government, accusing it of neglecting Tamil Nadu. By adopting similar language, Jeyakumar has left many wondering why the ADMK, which has historically been at odds with the DMK, is now echoing its rival’s sentiments.

Complaint Filed Against TN HR&CE For Misappropriation Of Funds From Chennai’s Agatheeswarar Temple, Ex-Idol Wing IG Reveals Stunning Details

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE) authorities have been accused of grave abuse of power, with a complaint lodged with the police alleging misappropriation of ₹1.34 lakh from the funds of the Lord Agatheeswarar Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple in Nungambakkam, Chennai.

Ramanan, an auditor associated with the “Alayam Kappom” organization, filed a complaint on 24 April 2024, supported by documented evidence and collected materials, alongside former idol wing IG Ponn Manickavel, acting as an advisor to the organization.

The complaint highlights the alleged misappropriation of ₹1.35 lakh from the temple’s funds during 2017-18. These funds were purportedly diverted for expenses related to tea, coffee, snacks, and meals for the HR&CE Commissioner’s office.

He

Despite substantial funds collected from various temples, diverting them for office expenses constitutes a serious offense, potentially punishable with imprisonment under Sections 406 and 409 of the Indian Penal Code, as per a Supreme Court ruling.

Former IG Ponn Manickavel, addressing the press, declared that the HR&CE Commissioner’s office in Nungambakkam has committed a serious offense by engaging in fraudulent misappropriation of funds. According to the law, this offense carries a punishment of up to two years. Additionally, their actions constitute criminal breach of trust, which can lead to a life sentence. These crimes occurred during the 2017-18 period.

He explained the delay in filing a complaint by noting that the accused individuals were all part of the HR&CE department, and the crimes took place under their supervision without detection. The beneficiaries of these fraudulent activities were also affiliated with HR&CE, thus maintaining secrecy. Manickavel cautioned against assuming innocence based on claims of using funds for tea, coffee, and lunch, clarifying that HR&CE operates differently from other departments as it relies on taxes imposed on temples by the government.

Ponn Manickavel pointed out that contrary to the popular belief, unlike the other state government departments which runs on taxpayer’s money, the HR&CE Department runs on taxes levied on temples.

He revealed that temples are taxed similarly to businesses, with rates ranging from 4% to 12% based on revenue.

The previous government (AIADMK) levied ₹340 crore in taxes per year just for Hindu temples. This is on record. Even the press does not know that temples are taxed by the government. They’ve hidden this fact. How are they levying the tax? They’ve categorized like businesses. 4% tax for temples that earn ₹5000-₹20,000 per year. 5% tax for temples that earn ₹20,000-₹60,000 per year. 6% tax for temples that earn ₹60,000 to ₹200,000 per year. 7% tax for temples that earn ₹200,000 to  ₹500,000 per year. 12% tax for any temple that earns above ₹500,000.“, Ponn Manickavel said.

The previous government (AIADMK) put ₹340 crore and put ₹370 crore the next year. The new government (DMK) which came in 2021 is putting ₹427 crores. It is this money that is used as ‘administrative fund’ to give salaries, pensions, etc.“, he said.

This information is largely unknown, even among Hindu organizations, and the government has allegedly destroyed 11 Adheenams, leaving only a few ancient ones unaware of these practices. In recent years, the government has increased temple taxes significantly, using the funds for administrative purposes like salaries and pensions. Manickavel condemned this practice, arguing that temple earnings should be spent for temple purposes only.

He also said that two officers namely Executive Officer M. Sakthivel and another officer is involved in this.

Despite the substantial taxes imposed on temples, the Nungambakkam office allegedly diverted funds for lunch, snacks, and water bottles, which Manickavel condemned as theft from the temples he said. He also highlighted over 19 reported crimes at the renowned Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple in Nungambakkam, indicating a broader issue of security and mismanagement.

Tambaram: Woman Customer Finds Live Worm In Chicken Dish Bought From Alif Biriyani Hotel, Owner Allegedly Removes Worm And Resells It Another Customer

In the heart of Chennai, a shocking incident unfolded when a customer who purchased Chettinad chicken discovered a live worm crawling inside the package. The customer promptly filed a complaint, accompanied by video evidence, sparking widespread concern in the area.

At a hotel called Alif Biryani situated on Mudichur Road in Tambaram, Chennai, a customer bought Chettinad chicken on 26 April 2024. To her dismay, upon opening the package, she found a live worm wriggling amidst the chicken. Disturbed by this, she returned to the shop and brought the issue to the owner’s attention. Surprised by the revelation, the owner allegedly removed the worm from the package and resold it to another customer.

A woman named Revathi spoke to reporters about the incident, detailing her brother’s experience with the worm-infested parcel purchased from Alif Biryani Shop. After discovering the worm, her brother captured video evidence and immediately confronted the shopkeeper. Despite their complaint, the shopkeeper seemingly continued selling contaminated parcels to unsuspecting customers until they intervened. They insist on swift action, having filed a police complaint and urging authorities to address the matter promptly. Despite their efforts, no action has been taken by the Food Safety Authority, leaving the situation unresolved.

Previously, a similar issue arose at SBM Bakery, yet no action was taken by the Food Safety Authority. When questioned further, the proprietor remarked, “I am aware of how to handle my work. I don’t need to be told.” Kamal Basha, the shop’s owner, asserted, “I have operated a business in this vicinity for 19 years without any prior complaints. This is the first time such an allegation has been made. It seems deliberate. I will not deceive, especially on a day as significant as Friday prayer. The claim of finding both live and dead worms is erroneous; there was only one live worm present.” Additionally, he mentioned, “We have issued a formal apology letter to the authorities.”

Madras High Court Delivers Final Verdict On LVB-DBIL Merger Challenge, Directs RBI To Reevaluate Shares And Assets Of DBIL And LVB

In a significant development, the Madras High Court has pronounced its final verdict on a batch of cases challenging the merger between Lakshmi Vilas Bank (LVB) and DBS Bank India Limited (DBIL). The petitioner, Aum Capital Private Limited, represented by M/s. AKR & Associates filed a Writ Petition challenging ‘The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd. (Amalgamation with DBS Bank India Limited) Scheme, 2020,‘ published by the Union of India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and the erstwhile Lakshmi Vilas Bank Limited.

The core contention of the petitioner revolved around the alleged arbitrary actions of the RBI and the Union Government in forcing the amalgamation of Lakshmi Vilas Bank with DBIL and writing down the entire shareholding of the shareholders to “Zero.” This move, according to the petitioner, was made without just and cogent reasons and in stark contrast to accepted principles of valuation in the banking sector.

The saga began in September 2019 when the RBI placed Lakshmi Vilas Bank under Prompt Corrective Action. Subsequently, on November 17, 2020, the Union Government imposed a moratorium on Lakshmi Vilas Bank under Section 45(1) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. On the same day, the RBI proposed the draft scheme of amalgamation with DBS Bank India Limited. Within a mere three days, the RBI closed the window for filing objections against the proposed draft scheme, and on November 25, 2020, the RBI passed the scheme of amalgamation.

Senior advocates Arvind P. Datar and P.S. Raman, representing the petitioner, argued before the court that the RBI’s actions were clandestine and against the interest of depositors. They further highlighted flaws in the valuation exercise carried out by the RBI.

In its verdict, the Madras High Court acknowledged that the amalgamation had already taken effect four years back and deemed the situation irreversible. While recognizing flaws in the identification process of DBIL and the procedure of amalgamation, the court refrained from setting aside the amalgamation.

However, to safeguard the interests of shareholders and bondholders, the court directed the RBI to reevaluate the shares and assets of both DBIL and LVB as of the date before the amalgamation. This reevaluation would inform decisions regarding the reduction of share value and the writing off of tier-II bonds. The RBI was given a timeframe of four months to complete this exercise.

Legal counsels Ankur Kashyap, Ramaswamy Meyyappan, Rohit Rajershi, Arjun Suresh, and Viyyash Kumar appeared for Aum Capital Markets Pvt Ltd., representing the petitioner in the case.

This verdict marks a significant milestone in the ongoing legal battle surrounding the LVB-DBIL merger, reflecting the judiciary’s commitment to upholding fairness and transparency in financial matters.

DMK Councilor Rajiv Gandhi Arrested for Assaulting Women VAO On Polling Day in Villupuram

The recent apprehension of a DMK district councilor in Villupuram has sparked considerable commotion in the locality. The councilor’s arrest stemmed from an altercation involving Shanti, the Village Administrative Officer of Mugaiyur, Villupuram District.

During the 2024 parliamentary election voting on 19th April 2024, Shanti provided food to officials on duty at the polling station overnight. Allegedly, the DMK district councilor, Rajiv Gandhi, physically assaulted Shanti and verbally abused her, accusing her of taking the food he had purchased. Witnesses reported that later that evening, in an inebriated state, Rajiv Gandhi returned to the polling station, assaulted Shanti again, dragging her by her hair and kicking her in the stomach. This caused Shanti to faint from the pain, necessitating her admission to Villupuram Government Medical College Hospital. Following Shanti’s complaint, the police initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested Rajiv Gandhi, absconded evading authorities.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that both Rajiv Gandhi and Shanti had purchased food from the same restaurant on the day of the polling. Rajiv Gandhi mistakenly believed that Shanti had misappropriated the food intended for him and the officials, leading to the altercation.

Additionally, it came to light that Rajiv Gandhi had previously filed a complaint against Shanti alleging electoral malpractice, which Shanti vehemently denied. The police investigation uncovered that this previous dispute likely fueled Rajiv Gandhi’s attack on Shanti, indicating a pre-existing animosity between them.

In this context, the President of the Tamil Nadu BJP, K Annamalai, has expressed condemnation towards the issue and urged for a stern action against the DMK official through his official X handle, “In Villupuram district, on 19th April the last day of parliamentary elections, DMK official Rajiv Gandhi brutally assaulted the female village administration officer, sister Mrs. Shanti by slapping her on the cheek and kicking her in the stomach. Strongly reprehensible.

During the parliamentary election campaign, DMK executive Rajiv Gandhi has carried out such cruel attack as a result of refusing to file a false complaint against the Pattali Makkal Katchi brothers allegedly violating the election campaign rules. Chief Minister Stalin, who went on street-to-street apologizing before coming to power, but did not reprimand his party men even in the slightest rebuke after coming to power, which is responsible for DMK’s continuous anarchy against government officials, especially women officials. It seems that the police have arrested DMK executive Rajiv Gandhi who kicked and assaulted a female village officer. I urge you to take appropriate action against him.”

Tamil Nadu Mahila Congress President’s Debut Event Overshadowed by TN Cong Pres’s Neglect, Women Cadres Forced To Sit On The Floor

The Congress has designated Hazeena Syed as the new head of the Tamil Nadu Mahila Congress. Approval for her appointment was granted by the All India Congress Committee president on 20 April 2024, as stated by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal. Sudha Ramakrishnan, who previously served as president, vacated her position due to her candidacy for the Mayiladuthurai constituency in the 2024 parliamentary elections. Consequently, Hazeena Syed, who formerly served as National Secretary of Mahila Congress, was chosen to succeed her in leading the Tamil Nadu Mahila Congress.

On 25 April 2024, the Tamil Nadu Congress organized an event at Sathya Murthi Bhavan in Chennai to welcome and honor the newly appointed Mahila Congress President, Hazeena Syed. The event aimed to highlight and celebrate the contribution of women within the party. However, despite the expectation of a significant presence of female party workers and cadres, male leaders dominated the stage, overshadowing the women and diminishing their visibility.

While the party and its allies advocate for women’s reservation in education and employment as a fundamental right, the actions of the male leaders in seizing the spotlight from female leaders drew criticism from the critics. Allegations surfaced that K Selvaperunthagai, the President of the Tamil Nadu Congress party, arrived early but did not show patience for Hazeena Syed, the guest of honor. Upon her arrival, he hastily introduced her to the press without proper acknowledgment, undermining her significance.

Furthermore, when female party workers attempted to honor Hazeena Syed on stage, they found themselves marginalized by the male party workers who occupied most of the available space. It was reported that Selvaperunthagai even consulted whether Hazeena Syed should be provided with a chair on stage. With no room left on the stage due to the presence of male cadres, female cadres were left with no choice but to sit on the floor near the feet of their male counterparts.

This treatment of women party workers and leaders within the Congress drew condemnation from netizens, who questioned whether this was the appropriate way to treat women within the party. Some even cited the departure of former Congress leaders like Khushbu Sundar and former Vilvancode MLA S Vijayadharani to the BJP as examples of the party’s disregard for its female members.

Family Of UKG Student Allegedly Threatened By TN Congress Councillor For Exposing School Property Damage In Viral Video

After a viral video showcased the dilapidated state of Mogappair Primary School’s properties, that was used as a polling booth during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the child’s parents, the school committee chairman, and an educational activist were purportedly threatened by officials and the 92nd ward Congress councillor for exposing the matter.

Before the elections, the school administration had urged for the maintenance of cleanliness and preservation of the premises post-polling. Following the elections, a video featuring Ahimsa, a student in UKG at Mogappair Primary School, emerged, revealing her distress over the school’s condition, including litter strewn about and broken slabs in classrooms. Ramya Bala, Ahimsa’s mother, explained that the video was shared after her daughter expressed distress regarding the broken slabs in her classroom.

However, this was taken seriously by both the councillor and education officials accused them of conspiring against the government. Furthermore, they were subjected to questioning about their parenting, and access to the school was restricted without prior permission. Members of the School Management Committee (SMC) claimed that education officials and the councillor held a meeting where resolutions were passed against them. These resolutions included barring SMC members from entering the school premises or raising queries, along with threats of police intervention.

Education officials and Congress councillor KV Thilagar refuted these claims, with Thilagar stating that he encouraged parents to bring issues to his attention before resorting to social media, and denied any involvement in threats.

RaGa Supporter ‘All-In-All’ Sumanth Derides Journalist Palki As ‘This Lady’ While Amplifying Dhruv Rathee’s Video As Gospel Truth

All-in-all commentator Sumanth Raman is back in the news. This time he targets journalist and anchor Palki Sharma. A video of Palki Sharma has been making the rounds for quite some time now. In the video, she speaks about the Mahabharatha where she pinpoints the Pandavas for doing the wrong things and still remained the good guys in the endWhile Palki Sharma may have a skewed opinion/understanding of the Mahabharatha, the focus of this video is on Sumanth Raman. He quoted the video and wrote, This lady’s videos are taken as gospel truth on Whatsapp Groups

But why is he quoting Palki’s videos now? A couple of days ago, a 13-minute video of Palki Sharma speaking at Oxford Union went viral. This speech was given by Palki about a year back. In the video, Palki spoke about how India had developed and progressed under the Narendra Modi government and she gave a few anecdotes as examples to support her arguments.

“My remarks at the Oxford Union almost a yr ago have made their way across social media. I gave a perspective on what has changed in India, citing events & anecdotes to support my argument. I’m overwhelmed to see how it has resonated with so many of you.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi quoted the post and wrote, You have given a wonderful glimpse of the massive transformations taking place across India, @palkisu!”

Instead of countering her with facts, Sumanth Raman whose now-favourite app “WhatsApp” seems to be featured in every post he makes, derides Palki for that Mahabharatha video clip by calling her “this lady” and accuses her videos of making the rounds on WhatsApp.

Ironically, he speaks about gospel truth because the videos and information he shares on social media platform X are from the very same propaganda peddlers such as Dhruv Rathee.

He shared a 2-minute video of Rathee where he talks about how WhatsApp was being used by political parties (indicating the BJP) to “brainwash” the masses. Sumanth wrote, Summary of the last decade in 2 minutes. Watch.”

It is quite clear how the likes of Rathee and the leftists have been using portals such as YouTube to spread misinformation and hoodwink the public. It is also noteworthy that Rathee himself has started a WhatsApp channel and was trending the hashtag #Mission100Crore to “save” Bharat Mata.

Maybe Sumanth Raman can spend time reading and updating himself rather than wasting time on WhatsApp reading propaganda posts of Rathee.

Indian Student In Canada Faces Vicious Online Attack After False Accusations By Netizen On His Video, Sparks Social Media Storm

In a harrowing turn of events, Mehul Prajapati, an Indian student living/studying in Canada (also an Instagrammer), found himself at the center of a relentless barrage of negativity and hate after false allegations surfaced on social media platforms, swiftly spreading to major news websites across the country.

The Indian-origin “data scientist” faced termination from his job after posting a video explaining how he accessed free food from food banks meant for students in Canada. Mehul Prajapati, allegedly employed at TD Bank in Canada, shared his method of saving “hundreds of bucks” monthly on groceries through these food banks. Prajapati displayed his weekly food haul, which included fruits, vegetables, bread, sauces, pasta, and canned goods.

The video, originally posted on Instagram, gained traction after another user reposted it, criticizing Prajapati’s actions. This netizen ended up “doxxing” Prajapati over his “food bandit” actions and claimed he was a data scientist. The netizen with the handle “@Slatzism” wrote, This guy has a job as a bank data scientist for @TD_Canada, a position that averages $98,000 per year, and proudly uploaded this video showing how much “free food” he gets from charity food banks.

Tagging the supposed employer, the netizen later updated the post stating, Update: the food bank bandit was fired.” The user also posted a screenshot of an email from the bank confirming that the “individual named in the video no longer works at TD“.

What Is The Truth?

Mehul Prajapati, 26, a student of a master’s degree at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, initially intended to offer insights into his life in Canada to assist fellow students but faced a barrage of hate and false allegations following the video’s circulation on platforms like X and Reddit.

Despite garnering only 4,000 views and three comments from his modest following on Instagram, the video was downloaded and shared by @Slatzism, tarnishing Prajapati’s reputation as a “thief” and “freeloader.” The ensuing backlash inundated him with hate messages,  some even threatening him to leave Canada.

However, an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol revealed the truth. Prajapati was not exploiting government-run food banks meant for the underprivileged; instead, he was participating in a legitimate program offered by Wilfrid Laurier University. Collaborating with LSPIRG and Martin Luther University College, the initiative provided free groceries to students facing food insecurity.

Prajapati’s involvement in the program was misconstrued, fueling the online frenzy, despite his video solely referencing his college’s food assistance program. The program’s details were available on the college website, specifying eligibility criteria for students to access free groceries and essentials.

@Slatzism, a social media user, acted as the catalyst for Prajapati’s ordeal by amplifying misconceptions surrounding his video.

Even in the absence of verifiable evidence, @Slatzism’s actions triggered unwarranted repercussions. The individual behind the account located Prajapati’s Instagram and LinkedIn profiles, where TD Bank was listed, and went to great lengths by emailing the bank – Prajapati’s purported employer – with the intent of getting him “fired”.

Prajapati was never employed by the bank. He completed a 17-week internship at the bank as part of his college curriculum, which requires him to undertake two mandatory internships. His internship concluded in December 2023. Moneycontrol has verified the documents supporting his internship.

Contrary to @Slatzism’s claim of earning Canadian Dollars 98,000 (₹59 lakh) and being a bank employee, Prajapati was neither employed nor paid by TD Bank. Therefore, he was not terminated from his position. So, why did TD Bank inform @Slatzism that he “no longer works at TD”? Simply put, because he never worked there. The bank’s email did not mention termination; it only stated the factual information that he was not an employee. However, @Slatzism misinterpreted this, labeling Prajapati as a “food bank bandit” and spreading misinformation.

Speaking to Moneycontrol over the phone, Mehul shared the profound impact the incident had on his mental well-being.

“Hearing my phone notification would scare me. I stayed locked up at home for six days, worried about my safety and dealing with feeling alone and unsupported. Nobody seemed to want to hear my side; they just believed false things about me that ruined the reputation I worked 25 years to build, all in just a few moments, Mehul narrated.

Reflecting on his traumatic experience, Mehul expressed dismay at the ease with which misinformation spreads online. He lamented the lack of inquiry into his side of the story, emphasizing that crucial details were overlooked amidst the frenzy.

“This experience taught me a hard lesson: not everything you see on the internet is true. Often, the real story is very different from what people assume. This is the dark side of social media and the internet; it can either make you a hero or a zero in the click of a time,” he added.
