TPCC’s Sama Ram Mohan Reddy Files FIR Against Social Media Influencer Sinha For Allegedly Misquoting Rahul Gandhi’s Comments On Hindus

In another attempt to suppress the voice of Hindus and nationalists on social media, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s (TPCC) new chief of media cell, Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, has filed a case against social media influencer Raushan Sinha a.k.a Mr.Sinha for posting an allegedly manipulated image which claimed that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress scion, made derogatory remarks about Hindus.

In response to the post, a FIR was filed on 2 July 2024 behalf of the congress contesting the statements were fake and misleading with the Hyderabad police under sections 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 353(2) (Promoting enmity), 353(1)(c) (Circulating false information), and 336(4) (Forgery of electronic record) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)

In an official statement on his X account, Sama Ram Mohan Reddy stated, “My team has registered an FIR against @MrSinha_ working on the BJP payroll. He circulated fake news misquoting our leader @RahulGandhi Ji after his speech in the Loksabha and appealed to people to share it widely to tarnish his image. Telangana Police will visit him soon!”

A complaint made by Venkat Naik read, “@Mr Sinha created a post regarding fake post. Yesterday i.e., on 01-07-2024 in the parliament session the Leader of Opposition Sri. Rahul Gandhi said that “The BJP people are not real Hindus, and these BJP people are Violent” but this account holder modified that speech and created a fabricated post. According to that fabricated post Sri. Rahul Gandhi said “those who are Hindus, are violent’. Sri. Rahul Gandhi never gave wrong statements against the Hindus of this Nation but this BUP social media intentionally provocating Hindus for the sake of their political gain. This post is being circulated in Twitter, creating misappropriation in the social media and violating law and order and peace. The post Url is: https://x.com/MrSinha_/status/1807734098351280220?s=19.”

I am enclosing the content that is being posted and circulated and going on in circulation for the perusal of your good office and requesting your good self to enquire into the matter and to stop circulating the same directing the concerned to block those accounts which were used for circulation of fake news. I am also requesting your good self to find out the root cause of this conspiracy and charge the culprits for their illegal acts committed by conspiring together by spreading the false news by registering a case and enquire into the matter at the earliest in the interest of Justice,” it further read.

On 1 July 2024, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress scion and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, made his inaugural speech sharply criticizing the BJP, stating, “Those who call themselves Hindus talk violence, hatred, untruth 24 hours.

In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood up, emphasizing, “This is a very serious issue. Calling the entire Hindu society violent is a serious matter (poore Hindu samaj ko hinsak kehna yeh gambhir vishay hai).” Union Home Minister Amit Shah subsequently demanded an apology from the Congress leader for his remarks.

After objections from the treasury benches, Gandhi clarified by stating, “The BJP and the RSS are not the entire Hindu society… Aap Hindu ho hi nahi (You are not Hindus.)”

Therefore, the recent move to silence Mr. Sinha’s social media presence is viewed as another publicity stunt by Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, the newly appointed chief of TPCC’s media cell. This action comes only months after his appointment.

Previously, in April 2024, Mr. Sinha faced harassment from the Tamil Nadu police. They accused him of spreading false information about the death of a woman named Gomathi, allegedly at the hands of DMK goons in Pakkirimaniyam village, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. The incident reportedly occurred because she had purportedly voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the state elections. Despite widespread coverage by reputable Tamil news outlets, Mr. Sinha was singled out by the Tamil Nadu police.

Hindu Activist Faces FIR For Opposing Hamas Leaders’ Address In Kerala

In a move that has sparked widespread debate, the Kerala Police have filed a case against Pratheesh Vishwanath, a Hindu activist in Kerala and founder of the Hindu Seva Kendram. The case arises from Vishwanath’s vocal opposition to the opportunity given to Hamas leaders to speak in Kerala.

In October 2023, Khaled Mashal, former Hamas chief, addressed an online rally in Malappuram, Kerala, organized by the Solidarity Youth Movement in support of Palestine. His speech, calling for global support for Palestinian fighters and criticizing Zionist actions, sparked controversy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president K. Surendran demanded legal action against the organizers, criticizing the Kerala State government for inaction and accusing them of glorifying Hamas, recognized as a terrorist organization by many countries.

The rally also featured slogans against Hindutva and Zionism (Uproot Bulldozer Hindutva Apartheid).

Several including Jamaat-e-Islami members and journalists, spoke at the event.

FIR

The First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Station states that the “offence” occurred on 30 October 2023, between 00:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs. The complaint was officially recorded in the police station’s general diary at 17:00 hrs the same day.

The FIR, numbered 0424/2023, was filed by P. P. Karunakaran from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram City. The charges against Pratheesh are based on his criticism of the platform provided to Hamas leaders, a group recognized as a terrorist organization by many countries, including the United States and the European Union. Vishwanath’s statements were seen as potentially inciting communal unrest, prompting the police to take preventive action.

Critics argue whether expressing dissent against a group like Hamas now a punishable offense in Kerala. It is also argued that the police action against Vishwanath sets a dangerous precedent for freedom of speech. They contend that criticizing a terrorist organization should not be equated with incitement to violence or communal unrest.

The police’s justification for the case—that Vishwanath’s comments might lead to communal riots—has led to further speculation. If expressing opposition to Hamas could incite such unrest, does this imply the presence of Hamas sympathizers or operatives in Kerala? This possibility is alarming and warrants a thorough investigation to ensure the security and peace of the region.

TN BJP Chief Annamalai Slams Communist MP Su Venkatesan’s Derogatory Comments On Sengol, Digs Out Old Pic Of Him Giving Sengol To Madurai Mayor

Tamil Nadu BJP State President K. Annamalai has issued a strong rebuttal to recent comments made by Madurai MP Su Venkatesan regarding the Sengol, a scepter symbolizing Hindu Tamil culture, which was placed in the new parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a symbol of righteousness and justice.

Su Venkatesan, who is also the State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), had sparked controversy by mocking the Sengol during his speech in the 18th Lok Sabha’s motion of thanks to the President. The MP from Madurai, a seat renowned for its historical and cultural significance, including being the abode of Goddess Meenakshi, questioned the relevance of the Sengol in modern parliamentary proceedings.

During his speech, Venkatesan ridiculed the symbolic narrative of the Sengol by comparing it unfavorably with historical kings known for their polygamous practices and opulent lifestyles. He questioned the symbolism of bringing the Sengol into the parliament, suggesting it was inappropriate due to historical associations of oppression.

Do you know how many hundreds of women were kept as slaves by each king who held this Sengol? What are you trying to say to the women of the country by bringing and keeping the Sengol here? It is painful,” Venkatesan queried, adding that the gesture undermines the progress of women’s rights.

In a press conference held recently, Annamalai responded to Venkatesan’s remarks by showcasing a photograph of Venkatesan and Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan (PTR) handing over the Sengol to a woman mayor. Pointing to the photograph, Annamalai remarked, “In this picture, Su Venkatesan has handed over the Sengol to a woman mayor. Does this signify that he is enslaving this woman mayor? Tamil Nadu politicians are trying to find new logic and speak on it.

Annamalai highlighted what he termed as political hypocrisy, noting that Venkatesan attended the event and handed the Sengol to a DMK mayor, yet criticized its placement in the parliament by PM Modi. “BJP is trying to call out such political hypocrisy,” Annamalai stated.

He further elaborated on the cultural and historical significance of the Sengol, referencing Thiruvalluvar, the revered Tamil poet and philosopher, who dedicated an entire chapter to the concept of Sengol in his seminal work, the Tirukkural. Annamalai reminded that the land has built statues for Thiruvalluvar, with initiatives led by leaders like Karunanidhi and first proposed by Eknath Ranade.

Does Su Venkatesan’s stand signify that Thiruvalluvar is wrong?” Annamalai questioned. He expressed admiration for Venkatesan’s literary work but criticized him for aligning with the DMK’s stance, which Annamalai suggested was politically motivated due to electoral support in Madurai. “The people of Tamil Nadu are watching everything. They know who is doing progressive politics in Tamil Nadu,” Annamalai concluded.

“Godse Learnt Violence, Murder & Intolerance From Bhagavad Gita”, Says Congress MP KC Venugopal

Since the beginning of the Motion of Thanks address for the President in Parliament by the incumbent MPs, the Congress and its allies have opted to dissent from the President’s address and criticize aspects of Hindu or Indian culture.

In this context, Congress MP KC Venugopal from Alappuzha, Kerala, have stirred a new row on 2 July 2024, made derogatory remarks about the revered Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita, accusing it of promoting violence, murder, and intolerance. This statement was made in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s earlier comment alleging that those identifying as Hindus are involved in violence and hatred, sparking significant protests and criticism from various quarters.

Venugopal also questioned the President’s assertion of the government’s clear majority, stating, “Why is the President insisting that the government has a clear majority? We are certain that this government’s insecurity is evident in the President’s address.”

He further criticized the BJP, alleging that their electoral success was bolstered by external support including from investigative agencies like the ED, CBI, and IT, as well as biased media coverage funded by corporate entities. Venugopal claimed that without this support, the BJP would have secured fewer seats.

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pre-election statements, Venugopal highlighted the victories of Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad and Rae Bareli, contrasting them with Modi’s predictions of defeat. He criticized BJP narratives and accused them of using Hinduism for electoral polarization, challenging their commitment to Hindu beliefs.

In reference to Article 123(3)(a) of the Constitution, Venugopal recalled instances of communal speeches by PM Modi and accused him of disregarding constitutional norms, citing electoral irregularities and the Election Commission’s perceived inaction.

Later, KC Venugopal posed a rhetorical question about the true adherence to Hinduism among BJP members and INDI alliance members. He raised the issue of defining “who is a real Hindu,” stating that it should be someone who comprehends the principles of dialogue, tolerance, and human values.

Venugopal said, “Mahatma Gandhi and Godse believe in the Bhagavad Gita, both believed in Bhagavad Gita, both read Bhagavad Gita, but Gandhi learnt non-violence, tolerance and respect for human life from the Gita and the message of Lord Krishna. Godse learnt violence, murder and intolerance from the same textbook. We believe in Gandhi’s Hinduism not Godse’s Hinduism.

Bus Conductors Neglect & Deny Commutation To Thanjavur Hospital Sanitation Workers, Sparks Protest

The sanitation workers commuting daily to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital faced rejection from bus conductors at the bus stand, both from the current and subsequent buses heading their way. This neglect led to their agitation and subsequent protest.

At Thanjavur Medical College Hospital, numerous personnel, including doctors, staff, nurses, and sanitation workers, are employed. Many of these workers hail from Thanjavur and its neighboring regions. They commute daily to work from Thanjavur Old Bus Station via government town buses that pass by the Medical College.

Each day, these workers operate in shifts and plan their commute according to their work schedules. Typically, over 50 sanitation workers gather at the old bus station around 6:30 AM to catch the morning bus bound for the medical college. Recently, however, they encountered a problem when attempting to board the town bus. The conductor, citing bus regulations, asked them to wait for the next bus, which resulted in frustration among the workers.

In response, the sanitation workers staged a sit-in protest, blocking the entrance of the bus station. This action disrupted the departure of buses heading to other destinations, inconveniencing numerous passengers. Santhanaraj, the manager of the Karanthai Transport Branch, was informed of the situation and arrived with the West Police to negotiate with the protestors.

During discussions, the women workers expressed their dissatisfaction with being denied boarding despite the bus being designated for free travel for women like them. They recounted instances of conductors disrespecting them over the free fare issue, which they found unacceptable. Their primary concern was the timely arrival at the medical college by 7:00 am, crucial for replacing night shift workers.

Following the intervention, Santhanaraj assured the protestors that steps would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. He urged them to end their protest and offered an alternative bus arrangement, which they eventually accepted. The workers dispersed after approximately 1.5 hours of protest, allowing the resumption of normal bus operations, although the incident caused considerable traffic disruption in the area and garnered significant attention.

“One Who Eats Cow Dung Is Upper Caste – ‘Crossbelt’, One Who Eats Cow Is Lower Caste”: Coimbatore CSI Immanuel Church Pastor Derogates Hindus, Especially Brahmins During Sermon

On 16 June 2024, during the Sunday service at CSI Immanuel Church in Coimbatore, the father made some extremely derogatory Hinduphobic, especially anti-Brahmin comments. What started as a sermon describing how worship strengthens Christianity, and that worship must become one’s lifestyle, he very tactically veered into derogating Sanathana Dharma.

Explaining some verses from the Bible about untouchability, he suddenly started talking about Sanatana Dharma and Hindus. He said, Today it is the 2 descendants who are ruling the world, one is Abraham’s descendants and the other Ishmael’s descendants. Christians and Muslims are the ones ruling the world. Here people talk about Sanatanam and spirituality. They eat dumplings (kozhakattai) and coconut meat (Thenga moodi), and they drink cow urine. What is spirituality in this? They say those who eat beef are lower caste while those who drink cow urine are upper caste. Do they even have brains? One who eats cow dung is upper caste, “crossbelt” (a derogatory reference to one wearing sacred thread janeu/poonool) – the one who eats the cow that gives this cow dung is lower caste.”

He further said, “The only race which eats dung lives here. No other race in the entire world eats dung. Only in India do they eat the dung and drink the urine. We have such a disgusting race in India, and he proudly says that he came from Lord Brahma’s head. If you came from the head, why are you eating what fell on the ground? The one who comes from the head must stand on his head. We all stand in front of the cow, but these people stand behind the cow waiting for it to lift its tail. And they call us savage. They call us uncivilized people and say don’t touch them; they are untouchable. We feel ashamed to touch them, they do such dirty things.”

Towards the end of the sermon where he was describing how a character from the Bible verse he was explaining asked for water, he again delved into making Hinduphobic remarks. He said, Water is a big problem here. Go to the villages and see, you cannot draw water from any well just like that. If you do that, they will chop you into pieces and put you inside the same well. It used to be like that at one point in time. There used to be a well for the village, a well for the slum (Cheri), and one well for every place. You cannot take water from a well that is not yours. You cannot drink any water, as if they discovered water. God gave us water. He gave it to everyone. Nature is for everyone but these people took it away and created rules. They created water politics. Even today it is occurring.” And then he continues his sermon. He ended the sermon with the comment that Jesus was a very progressive person who never cared about anything and defied all rules (of untouchability and such).

Escalating Caste-Based Tensions In TN School: Clash Among Class 12 Students At Nanguneri Government School Leaves Two Injured

Another incident of caste-based pride led to a clash among class 12 students in Nanguneri, Tirunelveli. Just months after a tragic attack on a Scheduled Caste teen and his sister by three teens from a dominant caste in August 2023, another clash has erupted, resulting in injuries and hospitalizations within the district has shocked many.

This time, the conflict unfolded at Rosalind Chelliah Government Higher Secondary School in Maruthakulam village, in Nanguneri Block in Tirunelveli District. Students hailing from Ponnakudi, Mayaneri, and Maruthakulam villages attend this school.

Reports indicate that during the afternoon break on 1 July 2024, students from Ponnakudi and Mayaneri areas clashed, involving students from grades 10 to 12. The altercation resulted in serious injuries to a class 12 student, who suffered wounds on his hand and back. School authorities intervened, dispersing the students involved and conducting inquiries with those implicated in the violence.

The injured students were swiftly transported by ambulance to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for urgent medical attention. Witnesses from Ponnakudi alleged that the clash erupted when students from Mayaneri targeted them with caste-based insults, precipitating the violence based on regional and caste affiliations.

One of the injured victims recounted, “Upon our arrival, they assaulted us claiming we were also residents of Ponnakudi. They targeted me specifically based on my caste.

Another victim, a student, stated, “There was a quarrel between two 10th class students, it seems a boy from my village has called up and talked. In response to the threat, the Mayaneri boy had called and threatened that he will cut and stab him. Today he went and asked why he had called and made threats, in response ten to fifteen members beat him together…  the two were fighting and the fifteen members surrounded them and witnessed the altercation.

The victims alleged that prior incidents in the area had been based on caste distinctions.

Concerned relatives of the injured students expressed dismay over the recurring clashes among students from different communities at Rosalind Chelliah Government High School. They criticized the school administration for purportedly failing to prevent such incidents.

This incident underscores ongoing tensions and violence stemming from caste-based prejudices among students, highlighting the urgent need for community dialogue and effective measures to promote harmony and safety within educational institutions.

Ashoka University Students Display Pro-Palestine Placards During Convocation Ceremony

A video of a convocation ceremony at Ashoka University has been circulating on social media. It has come to light that on 24 May 2024, students of Ashoka University displayed pro-Palestine placards during their convocation ceremony. The video shows graduates holding signs that readFree PalestineandStop Genocide.” Some were also seen wearing the Palestinian “keffiyeh” (scarf) and some turned up in Palestinian flag colours – black, green, red.

This demonstration aligns with the ongoing demands of the Ashoka University Student Government (AUSG) to sever ties with Israel-based Tel Aviv University. Since May, the AUSG has petitioned the university administration, urging them to end their research partnership with Tel Aviv University, which includes lectures by Israeli faculty members in India. However, the university rejected this petition, emphasizing that it does not take political stances.

This is not the first time Ashoka University has been in the spotlight for controversial student actions. Here are some notable past instances:

Hinduphobic Slogans Raised On Campus

In March 2024, Ashoka University students raised Hinduphobic slogans such asBrahmin-Baniyawaad Murdabadwithin the university premises. Videos of the students chanting these slogans went viral on social media. The students also voiced support for caste-based reservations and a caste census at the university. They chanted additional slogans likeJai Bheem-Jai MeemandJai Savitri-Jai Fatima, targeting specific communities.

On Israel-Gaza Conflict

In February 2024, the AUSG issued a statement condemning Israel’s military actions in Gaza. The statement described the terror attack by Hamas on October 7th, 2023, which resulted in over 1,300 deaths and numerous atrocities, asevents taking place on 7 October 2023.This phrasing drew criticism for downplaying the severity of the attacks and omitting the violence committed by Hamas.

Controversial Research By Professor Sabyasachi Das

In August 2023, Professor Sabyasachi Das faced backlash for a research paper claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in election manipulation. The paper, widely criticized for its methodological flaws, went viral on social media after being amplified by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. Following the controversy, Professor Das resigned from his position. The AUSG defended the research, describing it ascutting-edge.”

False Claims By Professor Neelanjan Sircar

In November 2021, Professor Neelanjan Sircar falsely claimed that a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Rashtrapati Bhavan was actually of Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee. In a now-deleted tweet, Sircar used this claim to mock Hindu beliefs and criticized the BJP. His tweet read, “Totally amazing! This isn’t Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, it’s a picture of famous Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee playing Netaji in a movie. And this after yelling ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at a Netaji event. The bankruptcy of political appropriation of independence-era leaders.”

The recent display of pro-Palestine placards, combined with these past instances of Hinduphobic slogans, controversial research, and biased commentary on international conflicts, indicates a growing trend of activism and political expression among Ashoka University students.

“How Many Hundreds Of Women Were Enslaved By Each Sengol-Wielding King?”, CPIM MP Su Venkatesan Derogates Sengol In Parliament

Su Venkatesan, MP from Madurai and State Secretary of the CPIM, has once again sparked controversy by mocking the Sengol, a scepter symbolizing Tamil culture, which was placed in the new parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 28 May 2023, as a symbol of righteousness and justice. Despite being aware of the true significance of the Sengol, the MP chose to ridicule Tamil culture solely to oppose the BJP in Parliament.

During the motion of thanks to the President in the 18th Lok Sabha, CPIM MP Su Venkatesan began by expressing gratitude to the voters and the people of Madurai, for their trust in him. Ironically, he won from Madurai – the seat of the Sangam age and the abode of Goddess Meenakshi.

Disagreeing with the motion of thanks, he pointed out the absence of any mention of Ayodhya in the President’s speech, unlike the previous session of the 17th Lok Sabha Prime Minister’s last speech extensively covered Ayodhya. Venkatesan said, “If we don’t vote for you, you will abandon Ayodhya and you will abandon God.

Venkatesan then shifted his focus to critique the ‘Sengol,’ a royal scepter symbolizing righteousness, justice, and authority in Indian culture. He ridiculed its narrative by comparing it unfavorably with historical kings known for polygamy and opulent lifestyles in their women’s quarters. Even though, such associations had no relevance to the Sengol. He questioned the symbolism of bringing the Sengol into parliamentary proceedings, asking rhetorically about the historical oppression of women by kings who wielded it.

Venkatesan queried, “Do you know, how many hundreds of women were kept as slaves by each king who held this sengol? What are trying to say to the women of the country by bringing and keeping the sengol here? It is painful.”

Further in his speech, Venkatesan peddled lies claiming that statues of Gandhi and Ambedkar, originally positioned at the parliament’s entrance, had been relocated to a less prominent location, while figures like Chanakya, Savarkar, and the Sengol were prominently displayed inside.

Contradicting his earlier statements in Parliament, Venkatesan asserted that the electorate had voted for his party with a mandate to dismantle what the current administration supports and to champion neglected causes. Continuing his speech, he remarked, “The scepter embodies dual symbols of honor: one representing monarchy and the second is, as you know, symbolizing virtue—namely, honesty.

He also made unsubstantiated claims about BJP leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha disparaging Tamil people.
