Nvidia Surpasses Apple To Become World’s Largest Company In AI Era

Graphics chip giant Nvidia has become the world’s largest company by market capitalisation, surpassing Apple in the artificial intelligence (AI) era. At the close of the market late on Tuesday, Nvidia was valued at $3.43 trillion, crossing Apple’s $3.38 trillion market value.

Jensen Huang-led Nvidia for the first time pushed past Apple in June, though only for a day. The company’s stock rose 2.9 per cent to $139.93, resulting in a market capitalisation of $3.43 trillion.

The chipmaker now accounts for 7 per cent of the weight of the S&P 500 Index. Microsoft currently has a market cap of $3.06 trillion. In its second quarter ended July 28, Nvidia reported revenue of $30 billion, up 15 per cent from the previous quarter and up 122 per cent from a year ago.

“Hopper demand remains strong, and the anticipation for Blackwell is incredible,” said Huang.

“Nvidia achieved record revenues as global data centers are in full throttle to modernise the entire computing stack with accelerated computing and generative AI.” During the first half of fiscal 2025, the chipmaker returned $15.4 billion to shareholders in the form of shares repurchased and cash dividends.

As of the end of the second quarter, the company had $7.5 billion remaining under its share repurchase authorisation. The company’s outlook for the third quarter of fiscal 2025 predicts revenue to be $32.5 billion, plus or minus 2 per cent. Nvidia will host a conference call on November 20 to discuss its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, which ended October 27.

Ahead of the call, it will provide written commentary on its third-quarter results from its chief financial officer, Colette Kress. Meanwhile, Huang has asked SK hynix to deliver its next-generation high bandwidth memory (HBM), named HBM4, six months earlier than scheduled amid rising demand for AI computing chips.

Huang’s request highlighted the soaring demand for Nvidia’s AI accelerators, which heavily rely on HBM chips for data and energy-intensive tasks as AI technology advances beyond text-based models.

TN CM Stalin Heaps Praises On Bail-Out Minister Senthil Balaji Embroiled In Corruption Case

TN CM Stalin Heaps Praises On Bail-Out Minister Senthil Balaji Embroiled In Corruption Case

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has once again courted controversy during his recent visit to Coimbatore, where he publicly praised Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji, who is currently out on bail following his arrest on corruption charges. The praise comes after a viral video showed Stalin prioritizing Senthil Balaji over senior DMK leaders and long-serving ministers, including KN Nehru and PTR Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, raising eyebrows within the party.

At a government event on 5 November 2024, Stalin defended Balaji and made remarks that seemed to rekindle the ongoing debate over the North-South divide. His comments have been widely criticized, with opponents accusing him of stoking regional tensions and prioritizing personal loyalties over broader party unity.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a ₹300 crore mega library in Coimbatore, Stalin urged critics of the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) to compare Tamil Nadu’s progress with that of a northern state over the past five decades. “We have not only uplifted the South, but today, the South is contributing generously to the North,” Stalin said, proudly highlighting the achievements of the state under DMK governance.

In a nod to the past, Stalin recalled the words of the late DMK founder C.N. Annadurai “Vadakku Vazhkirathu, therku Theikirathu” (The North is flourishing, while the South is declining). However, Stalin asserted that the situation had changed dramatically. “The South is no longer fading. Tamil Nadu has transformed into the second-largest economy in India, the most urbanized state, and a leader in implementing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We are now excelling in every metric of growth; poverty alleviation, employment generation, infrastructure development, and industrial production,” he added.

Stalin emphasized that this transformation did not happen overnight. He credited it to a “people’s government” with a clear ideology, a vision, and a strategic plan to bring about change. According to Stalin, the DMK’s goal is not just to be in power but to realize its vision of a prosperous Tamil Nadu. “For the DMK, power is not the end goal, but a means to execute our vision for a glorious Tamil Nadu,” he stated.

Referring to the Dravidian model of governance, Stalin claimed it has been inclusive, serving both those who voted for the DMK and those who did not. He pointed out that the party’s popularity had grown in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections compared to the 2021 assembly polls, which he attributed to the increased criticism from political opponents. “The more they criticize us, the more we understand the impact of our work,” he remarked.

In his speech, Stalin also praised state electricity minister V. Senthil Balaji, who is out on bail, for his contributions to government initiatives. “Minister Senthil Balaji has made a comeback to better implement government schemes in Coimbatore. They made some obstacles in the middle after seeing his excellent and speedy activities. I don’t want to go into detail on this as it is a government program. However, he has broken all barriers and is back, it is sure that Senthil Balaji will continue to do well for Coimbatore.”

However, Stalin’s decision to praise Senthil Balaji, who has been embroiled in a corruption case, has raised eyebrows. Critics have accused the Chief Minister of disregarding allegations of corruption, with some questioning the timing of his praise for Balaji amidst ongoing investigations.

Stalin’s comments on Tamil Nadu’s growth and governance have further intensified debates over the state’s political landscape, especially as the 2024 general elections approach. His remarks on the North-South divide and the DMK’s vision for the state have sparked both support and backlash, underscoring the ongoing political tensions in the state.

Hindu Community Targeted by Police In Chittagong, Bangladesh Amid Protests

Hindu Community Targeted by Police In Chittagong, Bangladesh Amid Protests

On 5 November 2024, members of the Hindu community in Hazari Goli, Chittagong, were subjected to violent actions by police and law enforcement authorities after staging a protest against a local trader. The trader, Osman Mollah, had made derogatory remarks about ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and Sanatana Dharma, sparking outrage among local Hindus.

The protest took place outside Mollah’s shop, where community members gathered to express their anger. Instead of taking legal action against the trader, law enforcement took Mollah into “safe custody.” However, reports indicate that the police, along with army officials, later turned their focus on the protesting Hindus. Eyewitnesses have shared disturbing images showing a joint team of security forces hunting down members of the Hindu community.

Authorities have justified their actions by alleging that the protesters threw bricks and acid at the police, but reports suggest that this was an effort to rationalize the crackdown. At least five Hindus were injured during the assault, and around 30 members of the minority community were detained. Disturbing footage also surfaced showing law enforcement destroying CCTV cameras in an apparent attempt to cover up their actions.

The violence continued into the night, with local residents recording videos of the ongoing assault by police and army personnel.

Alleged Blasphemy Incident Escalates Tensions In Faridpur

This incident follows a similar escalation in the Faridpur district, where a Muslim mob attacked a Hindu student after accusing him of blasphemy. The incident took place at Kadirdi Degree College in Boalmari, where a Class XI student, Hridoy Pal, was accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad in a Facebook post. The student denied ownership of the post, explaining that his social media account had been hacked two years ago.

The mob, consisting of madrassa students, gathered outside the college and demanded that the administration hand over the accused student. The situation grew tense as the mob vandalized property and motorcycles. The local police responded, and political leaders intervened to calm the mob. However, to prevent further violence, the army was called in, and they took the student into custody.

A troubling video emerged showing Hridoy Pal blindfolded and being carried by army personnel, with members of the mob slapping and encouraging further abuse. In the video, one army official is seen hitting the student with a stick, while the mob attacked the army with stones and shoes.

BJP TN Convener H Raja Slams TN CM Stalin Over Alleged Omission Of State And National Anthems At Coimbatore Event; Demands Apology To People

BJP TN Convener H Raja Slams TN CM Stalin Over Alleged Omission Of State And National Anthems At Coimbatore Event; Demands Apology To People

TN BJP state Convener H Raja sharply criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and the state government for allegedly neglecting both the State and National Anthems at a recent government event in Coimbatore on 5 November 2024. Raja argued that this omission was a serious disrespect to Tamil cultural heritage and national unity.

Raja expressed his outrage, saying, “The Tamil Thai invocation and the National Anthem were ignored by the Chief Minister! This is an insult to both Tamil Thai and the nation under DMK rule!” He called on CM Stalin to offer an unconditional public apology for what he described as an affront to Tamil pride and national integrity.

TN BJP state coordinator H Raja, via his official X account stated, “Tamil Nadu Governor His Excellency Mr. RN Ravi, while participating in Doordarshan program held at Prasar Bharati office on 18 October 2024, the sisters who sang Tamil thai greetings left out a line by mistake. To that, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. K. Stalin issued a statement condemning the governor to resign immediately. Following this, the DMK allies jumped to heavens and earth shouted for a week demanding that the Tamil Nadu Governor should resign immediately.”

“But Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, on 25.10.2024, at the government function of awarding certificates to the trainees of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s fellowship Program, the Tamil Nadu greeting was sung twice in a row incorrectly. At the end of the event, in an attempt to divert attention, Udhayanidhi Stalin told a lie covered in carpet, claiming that the Tamil Thai greeting was not sung incorrectly, it was a technical fault due to which mic was not working properly. The parties that are part of the DMK alliance and their leaders remained silent without opening their mouths to condemn or point out.” He stated.

“Today, on 05 November 2024, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M.K.Stalin and his cabinet colleagues, government officials including the Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government, participated in two functions held in Coimbatore on behalf of the Ministry of Information Technology and the Department of Housing. During these two ceremonies, the Tamil Thai greeting and the national anthem were not sung.” He accused

Does this mean that none of the Tamil Nadu government officials know how to properly sing the Tamil Thai greeting and the national anthem, and therefore did not sing at the event? Or is it because the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the DMK led by him have a Dravidian mindset, that they ignore the Tamil Thai greetings and the national anthem? Whatever the truth may be, ignoring the Tamil Thai greeting and the national anthem in a government program attended by the state chief minister, ministers, and state secretaries is tantamount to insulting the nation’s sovereignty. Therefore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. M. K. Stalin should publicly apologize to all the people of his country.” He further added.

BJP Tamil Nadu Convenor H Raja’s sharp criticism comes at backdrop of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin two-day visit to Coimbatore on 5  and 6 November 2024 participating in various government led events.

On 5 November, Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the Elcot Tidel Park, a ₹114.15 crore facility with eight floors, spread across 3.94 acres. Later, at noon, he visited Suguna Kalyana Mandapam, where he distributed exemption orders to landowners whose properties had been earmarked for acquisition by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. In the afternoon, Stalin interacted with representatives from the gold jewellery association at Shivalaya Marriage Hall.

On 6 November, Stalin visit to the prison grounds to oversee ongoing construction work for the Semmozhi Poonga. Then laid the foundation stone for the ₹300 crore Kalaingar Library and Science Centre.

Congress Functionary, Islamo-Leftists In Tamil Nadu Suffer Meltdown At Success Of Amaran

Congress Functionary, Islamo-Leftists In Tamil Nadu Suffer Meltdown At Success Of Amaran.

The leftist-Islamist ecosystem, unable to digest the commercial success and the grand acceptance of the biopic on martyred Major Mukund Varadarajan, has let loose its meltdown on social media platforms. Right from whining about not “talking” about the right issues in Kashmir, to stating “Azadi” slogan used by terrorists is a normal slogan used by people from all walks of life, to lying about children being used as shields, the meltdown of the Dravidianist ecosystem was telling. Let’s take a look at some of these reactions.

Member of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), Dhivya Marunthiah who has also shown her affinity to Pakistan, especially during the cricket World Cup in 2023, called the film a “propaganda movie”. She wrote,“#MajorMukundVaradharajan will always be remembered as a brave soldier. No doubt in that. But #Amaran is yet another propaganda movie against Muslims in Kashmir. (#KashmirFiles against the Muslims in Kashmir & in India in general – Mother of all propaganda) Looks like regional political parties have adopted the strategy of RSS/BJP. Nice!”

Congress member Dhivya Marunthiah simped royally for Pakistan when they landed in Chennai. Once the Pakistani team landed in Chennai, she posted a tweet welcoming the Pakistani cricket players to Tamil Nadu. Many on social media pointed out how the same lady had previously posted against Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting Tamil Nadu with the hashtag #GoBackModi (partly peddled by Pakistan).

Earlier, during the Ahmedabad match, in which India won against Pakistan, a disappointed Dhivya wrote that the country lost to religious extremists and prayed that the Pakistani team wins the world cup this time.

She also went on a cringe fest expressing her love for Pakistan.

In our review of the film, we highlighted the problematic song Azadi. Marunthiah did not seem to know the meaning or significance of the word and complained, “We used Azadi during CAA protest. Remember? They explicitly make the terror!sts use the word

The bane of not knowing Hindi has resulted in Marunthiah confirming that the Congress professes separatist agendas.

Dalit activist Shalin Maria Lawrence who was supported by people from other communities because they felt she championed the cause of the Dalits and rightly questioned the DMK over its “social justicealways also was seen speaking the same separatist language. She wrote, “I will not celebrate the “Amaran” movie, an agenda driven film against the true set up of things masked with sweet dripping romance. Children hit with pellets, children tied to Jeep fronts as shields have stronger stories to tell.”

This claim she parrots was put forth by former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti back in 2016.

Many even started sharing unfounded claims and allegations about Rashtriya Rifles and other peace-keeping forces.

A few others called the terrorism in Kashmir as “resistance“.

Many others stated that terrorists and extremists were not the same and that “state-sponsored violence was armed aggression“.

Their source of information for making such out-of-the-world claims – leftist, divisive portals like Al Jazeera!

Another Dravidianist wrote an entire thread calling the makers and the film Islamophobic. He shared clippings of a YouTube video by Dravidianist YouTuber Jeevasagapthan where he justifies the film makes all Muslims look like terrorists and also points out the “problem” of Tamil cinema for being Islamophobic and that the politics of Kashmir has never been addressed.

Dravidianist advocate Pulianthope Mohan also termed the film as “Islamophobic” and called it poison.

Nevertheless, the film is a box office hit and seems to have inspired many a youngster into joining the Army – at the end of the day, if a film encourages such emotions, promotes nationalistic feelings and increases the respect for our Armed forces, must be welcomed. The leftist Islamist meltdown is a positive sign in that direction.

Coimbatore Police Constable Suspended For Assaulting Borrower’s Father

Coimbatore Police Constable Suspended For Assaulting Borrower's Father

In response to a viral incident, Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan of Coimbatore Police suspended Grade II Constable Ranjith following an assault on the father of a borrower in the Sirumugai area of Coimbatore district.

The victim, Velmurugan (47), resides in Alangkombu, a small village near Sirumugai, Coimbatore District. His son, Karthik, reportedly borrowed money from various lenders but failed to repay them.

Due to Karthik’s frequent absences, his lenders often visited their home seeking repayment. When his father, Velmurugan, was confronted about the loans, he informed the lenders that Karthik was not home and claimed he did not know the debts. This prompted the lenders to file a complaint at the Sirumugai police station.

In response to the complaint, Constable Ranjith, accompanied by another officer, went to Karthik’s residence for investigation. As Karthik was absent, Velmurugan was summoned to the police station for questioning. However, he refused to go, stating he would come when his son was available. In a fit of anger, Constable Ranjith physically assaulted Velmurugan, kicking him and using his booted foot, before taking him to the station. The incident was recorded on CCTV and quickly went viral on social media.

In light of these events, Superintendent Karthikeyan has ordered the suspension of Constable Ranjith from his position.

The Secretary also directed NABARD to coordinate with state line departments and LDMs in the identification of fish farmers and providing them with benefits of the KCC scheme. Nagaraju underlined the Centre’s focus on seamless access to affordable credit to the allied sector and urged all stakeholders to take necessary steps to increase credit flow to the sector, the statement added. The sector provides sustainable livelihoods to over 30 million people mostly within the marginalised and vulnerable communities.

As much as Rs 2,352 crore of the total outlay has been allocated for the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) scheme which is a 56 per cent increase over the outlay of Rs 1,500 crore for 2023-24. ‘Important To Look At US Nationally Than In Terms Of Their Ideology…’ Says EAM Jaishankar

India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar said on Wednesday that the world must look at the US more “nationally than just purely in terms of their ideology of the administration” of the day.

Speaking at an event in Canberra as Americans were still casting votes, EAM Jaishankar said the election was unlikely to reverse what he called he called a long-term trend in US policy.

EAM Jaishankar said on Tuesday that India’s relationship with the US would only grow in the future. “Probably starting from (President Barack) Obama the US has become much more cautious about its global commitments,” he said, pointing to a US reluctance to deploy troops and its withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Joe Biden. “President Trump may be more articulate and expressive in that regard,” he said during a panel discussion with the Foreign Ministers of Australia and New Zealand.

But, he added, “it’s important to look at the US more nationally than purely in terms of the ideology of the administration of the day.” “If we are truly analysing them, I think we have to prepare for a world where actually the kind of dominance and generosity which the US had in the early days may not continue.” All three Foreign Ministers said their nations needed to step in to create the global environment they wanted. “We all have an interest today in creating some kind of collaborative consensual arrangement,” EAM Jaishankar added.

“There is more protectionism,” said New Zealand’s Winston Peters. “The world we were once trying to build on is changing, and we’ll have to react and change with it.” Speaking at a joint press conference on Tuesday with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong at Parliament House in Canberra, EAM Jaishankar also credited former US President Donald Trump with reviving the QUAD alliance in 2017, marking a significant development in Indo-Pacific cooperation.

“We have seen steady progress in our relationship with the US over the last five presidencies, including a previous Trump presidency,” EAM Jaishankar said on Tuesday in response to a question on how India-US ties may evolve after the elections. “So, when we look at the American election, we are confident that, regardless of the outcome, our relationship with the US will continue to grow,” he added.

“Amaran Film Is Poison”: ‘Red Pix’ Felix Gerald Interviews Dravidianist Advocate Who Parrots Pakistani Propaganda On Kashmir, Calls J&K as I-O-K, Wants Plebiscite, Says Vijayakanth And Arjun Injected Poison Through Their Nationalistic Films

"Amaran Film Is Poison": 'Red Pix' Felix Gerald Interviews Dravidianist Advocate Who Parrots Pakistani Propaganda On Kashmir, Calls J&K as I-O-K, Wants Plebiscite, Says Vijayakanth And Arjun Injected Poison Through Their Nationalistic Films

In a discussion with Redpix, advocate Pulianthope Mohan denounced the new Tamil film Amaran for promoting what he calledblatant Islamophobiaand accused it of dangerously misrepresenting Kashmiris while pushing a one-sided nationalistic agenda. He criticized the film for failing to highlight the genuine issues faced by Kashmiris, instead framing them through the perspective of a military protagonist, which, according to him, criminalizes an entire community.

“They are raising the wrong issues, Mohan said, pointing out that the portrayal of martyred Major Mukund Varadarajan, the film’s main character, ignores deeperhumanitarianand political problems. It’s not about hiding the identity of a soldier; the problem is that Amaran manipulates audiences by vilifying Kashmiri people, diverting attention from Kashmir’s decades-long struggle.”

Mohan said that showcasing an army officer’s journey is acceptable in itself, but that it should not come at the expense of degrading a people. He drew a comparison to the Tamil Eelam war: For Tamilians, our closest experience with such trauma was the Eelam war. If we were to show a Sinhalese hero while criminalizing Tamils in the process, would it be right? It’s perfectly fine to depict an army officer’s life, love story, and family. But when this portrayal criminalizes others, it’s wrong.”

The advocate referenced India’s complex relationship with Kashmir, pointing out that Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, had promised a plebiscite to Kashmiris, a promise that remains unfulfilled. Mohan argued that the film erases Kashmir’s legitimate aspirations and glosses over issues like the heavy military presence and prolonged curfews that locals have endured. We struggled with a 1.5-year lockdown during COVID. But Kashmir has faced restrictions for nearly 50 years,he said, emphasizing that there are no Kashmiri voices on social media. While I can speak out, they can’t.”

Mohan expressed disappointment with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s endorsement of the film. Stalin said he got teary-eyed watching it. Yes, even I did – but when my Kashmiri brother was wounded by bullets and pellets, Mohan said, adding that he believes Amaran perpetuates Islamophobia and contributes to a distorted perception of Kashmiris as enemies. This film is pure poison, he stated, calling it a manipulative attempt to bury Kashmir’s real issues under a veil of patriotism.

Mohan also invoked the perspective of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, pointing out that Ambedkar was highly critical of India’s policies toward Kashmir. Ambedkar actually called for a plebiscite, and he didn’t say that Article 370 was wrong or that Kashmir was unequivocally India’s,Mohan argued. Ambedkar saw the government’s approach to Kashmir as fundamentally flawed. He said politicians focused on who was right instead of what was right. He highlighted that Amaran distorts Ambedkar’s views and that Indian soldiers and Kashmiris alike are losing lives because of these unresolved issues.

Pulianthope Mohan also said that for Kashmiris, Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir is the same as Indian-Occupied-Kashmir. He said that India was born headless (thalaiyilla mundam) when it attained independence and Felix went on to say that the Indian government grabbed Kashmir through force.

Addressing the larger impact of Amaran, Mohan argued that films like it manipulate audiences and contribute to anti-Muslim sentiments. He shared an incident involving a Tamil schoolteacher who asked students to draw terrorists, leading them to sketch stereotyped images of men with skullcaps and beards. This is dangerous, he warned, attributing such prejudices to a growing trend of Islamophobia that films like Amaran reinforce. We are regressive when it comes to Islamophobia, and Amaran will only take us backward.”

He also claimed that actors like Vijayakanth, Arjun, and now Sivakarthikeyan have been injecting poison through their nationalistic films.

Mohan went on to express his concern over the support Amaran has received from Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK party, drawing a parallel between DMK’s current position and the BJP’s nationalist rhetoric. He claimed that the DMK is abandoning its core principles and beginning to align with the BJP’s approach. By promoting these narratives, they’re speaking the same language as BJP, he observed. Mohan added that DMK’s support for films like Amaran could ultimately strengthen BJP’s influence in Tamil Nadu, a shift he described as alarming. DMK used to challenge nationalistic feelings and was vocal about not using minorities as vote banks. But now, it seems they’ve reversed their stance. DMK appears to be using the minority community merely as a vote bank without genuinely supporting their issues.”

He also noted DMK’s treatment of UAPA prisoners in Tamil Nadu, describing it as another dimension of the party’s hypocrisy. Mohan recalled how Stalin had initially promised to release long-term prisoners but failed to fulfill this commitment. Even if you don’t release existing prisoners, at least stop sending new ones inside, he added, describing the UAPA as another oppressive measure disproportionately affecting minorities.

Mohan condemned the film’s portrayal of Sheikh Abdullah, the first Prime Minister of Kashmir, who had been protected by former Tamil Nadu leader Karunanidhi. He accused the film of unfairly depicting Abdullah as a criminal, erasing the historical support extended by Tamil leaders to Kashmir’s autonomy. Karunanidhi extended his support to Sheikh Abdullah, but his grandson Stalin is now distributing films that show him as a criminal. This change in values is alarming.”

Mohan also criticized the government’s decision to grant permission for a Brahmin protest in Tamil Nadu, questioning the motivation behind such approvals. Permission shouldn’t have been given in the first place. Who authorized this? There are bigger issues to address, but they distract us with this,he said, suggesting that such diversions are a tactic to avoid addressing more pressing concerns.

The advocate concluded his remarks with a powerful plea, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu’s leaders need to stand with minority communities and resist endorsing divisive narratives genuinely. I don’t care if the film is made, nor about Siva Karthikeyan acting in it. What alarms me is that Stalin and Udhayanidhi support it,he said.

They’re manipulating people by showing only one side of the story. We should remember that this affects the lives of Muslims here, who have to live under suspicion whenever there’s an incident in Kashmir.

Mohan underscored that the DMK’s contradictions have left him disillusioned with the party, adding, Even Periyar said that the Kashmir issue must be resolved by the people, and yet DMK continues to ignore these values.”

Trio In Car With TVK Flag Attack Police Official On Duty, Arrested

Trio In Car With TVK Flag Attack Police Official On Duty, Arrested

Salem was rocked by a shocking incident on 3 November 2024, when a Special Sub Inspector (SSI) was attacked while regulating the crowd at the Central Bus Station, which was packed with commuters returning to work after the Deepavali holiday. Police from the Pallapatti Police Station were on duty, managing the heavy crowd.

The incident unfolded around 9 pm, when Karthik, along with his sister Kamaleswari and relative Harikrishnan, tried to drive their Scorpio car, which displayed the flag of actor Vijay’s newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), through a bus station gate. At the time, Special Sub Inspector Saravanavelan, who was leading the security detail, instructed the driver to move the vehicle as it could cause a traffic jam.

In response, Karthik allegedly drove the car aggressively toward the SSI. During the ensuing altercation, Kamaleswari, sitting inside the car, reportedly struck Saravanavelan with her slipper. When another officer attempted to intervene, they were also assaulted.

As the situation escalated, the police surrounded the trio and tried to arrest them. In an act of defiance, Kamaleswari allegedly rolled onto the road and began causing a scene. The three individuals were eventually placed in a police vehicle and taken to the station.

Following the incident, Pallapatti police arrested the three individuals based on a formal complaint filed by SSI Saravanavelan. Their car was impounded, and a case was registered against them under multiple charges, including obstructing a public servant in discharging their duties and using abusive language.

The incident, particularly the act of a woman hitting an officer with her slipper at a busy public location, has caused a stir in Salem, attracting widespread attention and criticism.
