Madha Dental College Accused Of Encroaching Sri Sekkizhar Swamy Temple Land, Legal Action Initiated

sri sekkizhar swamy temple land encroachment madha dental college kundrathur

Prominent temple activist TR Ramesh has issued a legal notice to the Principal Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Religious Endowments Department and the Commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department, seeking urgent action against the illegal occupation of Sri Sekkizhar Swamy temple land by a Christian minority institution, Madha Dental College near Chennai.

According to the notice, the Soosaiya Peter Educational Trust, a registered Christian minority trust, and its managing trustee Mr. Soosaiya Peter, have allegedly been encroaching on the lands belonging to the Sri Sekkizhar Swamy Temple in Kundrathur, Kanchipuram District, since at least 2001. The land in question, measuring approximately 0.64 hectares across two survey numbers (1121/1 and 1080), has reportedly been used to construct and operate the Madha Dental College, which began functioning in 2006.

TR Ramesh asserts that there exists no lease agreement between the temple and the trust, labeling the occupation as illegal and “chronic encroachment.” He further alleges that such encroachment could not have occurred without active collusion by officials of the HR&CE Department, specifically the Executive Officer of the temple and the Regional Joint Commissioner.

In 2023, Mr. Soosaiya Peter filed a petition (W.P. No. 30701 of 2023) before a Division Bench of the Madras High Court, seeking to exchange the temple land, claiming he was a “lessee.” TR Ramesh filed an impleading petition in the same matter, presenting evidence that the Trust was, in fact, an encroacher and not a legitimate leaseholder. The court dismissed Peter’s petition on 12 December 2024, for want of prosecution.

However, Ramesh has sharply criticized the HR&CE Department for failing to inform the High Court of the pending Section 78 encroachment proceedings and for withholding crucial facts during court proceedings. He also raised concerns about a Senior Counsel, allegedly a DMK Member of Parliament, misrepresenting the law before the Division Bench by citing a government order that does not apply to temple lands.

The notice demands that the HR&CE Department:

  • Immediately evict the encroacher and reclaim the temple land and buildings, including over 10,000 sq. ft. of constructed space.

  • Calculate and collect rent for commercial use of the temple land from 2001 onwards, along with 12% compound interest.

  • File criminal complaints under Section 79-B of the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959.

  • Initiate disciplinary action against current and former Executive Officers of the temple and the Regional Joint Commissioner for dereliction of duty.

TR Ramesh also reiterated that while non-Hindu trusts may use temple lands with proper lease agreements and fair market rent, no trust—minority or otherwise—should be allowed to occupy temple lands by fraud, construct permanent buildings, and later claim ownership.

He stated that if no response is received from the authorities, he will move the Madras High Court seeking judicial intervention to recover temple lands and property unlawfully occupied for over two decades.

Security Guard Mathew Sexually Assaults Minor At TN Govt Service Home, Arrested

security guard govt service home

A shocking case of sexual assault has emerged from a government service home near Tambaram Sanatorium in Chennai, leading to the arrest of a security guard. The facility, meant to provide a safe environment for young women from across Tamil Nadu pursuing education in suburban colleges, is now under scrutiny after a horrifying incident.

A 13-year-old girl from Tirukovilur (Villupuram district) had been staying at the home for the past four days while preparing to join eighth grade at a Chromepet school. On 8 June 2025, a school holiday, she was assaulted early in the morning as she stepped outside. An unknown attacker covered her face with a cloth and sexually violated her. The assailant fled when the girl screamed, prompting other residents to rush to her aid. She was initially taken to Chromepet Government Hospital and later transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital due to a fractured leg.

Upon reviewing CCTV footage, the Chitlapakkam police identified the perpetrator as Mathew, a guard employed at the same facility. The victim, new to the home, revealed in her statement that the accused had threatened her into silence. Mathew had been appointed on compassionate grounds following his mother’s death—she had also worked at the center. His arrest has sparked outrage, raising serious concerns about safety in government-run shelters.

DMK Ally & Madurai CPI(M) MP Su Venkatesan Distorts Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Speech On Thirupparankundram Temple To Abuse Sanatana Dharma

amit shah su venkatesan speech thirupparankundram tirupparankundram temple madurai

CPI(M) leader and Madurai MP Su Venkatesan has come under fire for misrepresenting a recent speech by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the historic Thirupparankundram Murugan temple.

In a social media post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Venkatesan claimed that Shah attempted to downplay the antiquity of the temple by referring to it as “a thousand years old.” Venkatesan shared a news card with a caption stating, “Thirupparankundram hill, a thousand years old,” says Amit Shah. Parankundram is a Tamil word three thousand years old. The conspiracy of Sanatana lies in reducing it to a thousand years. While claiming Sanskrit is tens of thousands of years old, their politics, from Keeladi to Thirupparankundram, is to confine Tamil within a thousand years.”

The news card read, “The DMK government has the audacity to call our thousand-year-old Thirupparankundra mountain as Sikandar Mountain. The DMK government is doing this for separatist and political gains. We should participate in the Muruga devotees’ conference to be held on June 22 and show our strength. – Union Home Minister Amit Shah

(At a meeting of party executives held in Madurai…)”

However, a closer look at the actual speech delivered by Amit Shah reveals no such remark. Speaking at a public event in Madurai, Shah said, “Saalon se, Bhagwan Murugan ke bhakt yahan par apni shraddha vyakt karte hain.”

Translation: “For years, Murugan devotees have demonstrated their devotion here.”

The official translator, relaying Shah’s remarks to the Tamil-speaking audience, clearly stated, “பல ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளாக முருக பக்தர்கள் இந்த ஆலயத்தில் பக்தியுடன் வழிபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.”

Translation: “For several thousand years, Murugan devotees have been worshipping at this temple.”

The statement makes it evident that neither Shah nor the translator made any attempt to reduce the historical significance or age of the temple. In fact, the translator emphasized the temple’s antiquity, directly referencing “several thousand years.”

Moreover, the assertion by Venkatesan that Thirupparankundram is 3,000 years old inadvertently strengthens the central point made by Murugan devotees — that the temple and its sacred geography are deeply rooted in Tamil and Hindu religious tradition.

AIADMK Slams TN Police For Chit-Chatting And Laughing With POCSO Accused

The AIADMK has strongly condemned the police seen casually chatting and laughing with the accused gang-rapists who were brought to court under the POCSO Act. Their IT Wing handle shared a video showing the police engaging in friendly conversation with the accused, who were also seen laughing. The said video has gone viral and sparked widespread outrage.

Responding to the incident, the AIADMK IT wing posted on their official X account, questioning, “What is happening in Tamil Nadu? Stalin’s police are laughing and chatting with the rapists who gang-raped a girl!! Even sex offenders have no fear in the corrupt DMK regime!! The police who chat with the rapists have no sense of guilt!!”

Case Background

Twelve individuals, including minors, have been arrested in connection with the gang rape of a young girl near Pallavaram. Five of the suspects are currently in custody, and the Kanchipuram Superintendent of Police is leading the ongoing investigation.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl from Pozhichalur, lived with her parents, who left for work every morning, leaving her alone at home. A man delivering water cans exploited this situation, initially pretending to be romantically interested in her before sexually assaulting her. Later, he and his accomplices seven boys and five teenagers gang-raped her.

The traumatic experience left the girl severely distressed, prompting her mother to take her to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for treatment. During the examination, doctors discovered she was pregnant. Devastated by the news, the girl’s mother reported the crime at the Pallavaram All Women’s Police Station.

Authorities registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested twelve individuals, including Nandakumar (19), Sanjay (19), S. Sanjay (18) from East Tambaram, Surya (22) from Mudichur, and Nixon (22) from Pallavaram. Seven minors were sent to the Chengalpattu Juvenile Reformatory School, while the adults were presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.

Previously, five suspects—Sanjay, Surya, Nandakumar, Nixon, and S. Sanjay—were taken into police custody for interrogation. The questioning was conducted under the supervision of the Kanchipuram IG, along with the District SP and Thiruvallur District DSP, before they were returned to jail.

Disturbingly, when the five were brought into custody, they appeared to be smiling and relaxed, as if on a leisure outing, sparking public outrage. Social activists are now demanding stringent legal action against the perpetrators to ensure justice for the victim.

Marad, Kerala: Navas, Linked to 2003 Marad Massacre, Vandalises Temple, Breaks Ayyappa Idol, Brutally Assaults Octogenarian Priest

marad ayyappa bhajana madom madam navas assault vandalise sreenivasan

A religious site dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, known as the Ayyappa Bhajana Madam in Marad, was vandalized in a late-night attack, on 7 June 2025 sparking outrage. The assailant reportedly destroyed the Thulasithara, idols, smashed ritual lamps, and desecrated the Homakundam (sacred fire pit) before attacking the 80-year-old temple priest leaving him severely injured.

The priest’s cries alerted nearby residents and devotees, who rushed to the temple. Navas fled but then attempted to attack another temple, the nearby Marad Chottanikkara Temple, where he damaged its gate before being apprehended by the police and local residents.

Summary:

  • The accused, identified as Navas, a local resident who runs a catering business in Chennai, allegedly claimed affiliation with the Mujahideen group during the attack.
  • He forcibly entered the premises, destroyed the Ayyappa idol, and assaulted the temple’s elderly caretaker, leaving him with severe injuries. The priest is currently hospitalized.

Police sources initially suggested the accused may have mental health issues, a claim that has drawn skepticism, citing a pattern of similar explanations in past cases of religious desecration.

Marad has been a sensitive region since the 2003 Marad massacre, where eight Hindu fishermen were killed in a communal clash. The latest incident has reignited fears of escalating tensions.

Critics allege that Kerala’s law enforcement frequently dismisses such attacks as acts of “mental illness” rather than addressing potential communal motives. Comparisons were drawn to recent controversies, including:

  • The Guruvayur Tulsi plant desecration (where the accused was also labeled mentally ill).
  • A Kozhikode man’s false claim about INS Vikrant’s location during India-Pakistan tensions.

During his detention, Navas was reportedly uncooperative and aggressive, at one point invoking “Mohi-e-Deen” and challenging the police, threatening revenge. Authorities also recovered a bag from him containing an Arabic book with a green cover. Initial statements from the police suggested that Navas might be mentally unstable—a common claim in recent cases involving attacks on Hindu religious sites—but later comments from the Deputy Commissioner of Police indicated that no firm conclusion had been reached on his mental health status.

A multi-stakeholder meeting was convened in the aftermath, including representatives from political parties and community organisations, notably including the SDPI, the political wing of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

What has intensified public concern is Navas’s reported familial connection to an accused individual in the 2003 Marad massacre, in which eight Hindu fishermen were murdered in a communally charged incident. The 2003 tragedy continues to cast a long shadow over the region.

Commenting on the latest incident, Advocate Prakashbabu, BJP district president of Kozhikode, noted that the attack occurred on Bakrid and suggested that such an act might not have been carried out without encouragement or support. He called for a thorough investigation into possible extremist links.

The assault has sparked outrage among Hindus, who argue it highlights the growing threat posed by radical elements in Kerala. These groups have called on the state’s ruling LDF government and the UDF opposition to take decisive action against extremism and to refrain from what they allege is “vote bank appeasement politics.”

The police are continuing their investigation, and additional security has been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent further tensions.

DMK Stooge Kamal Haasan’s Wealth Skyrockets To ₹305 Crore After DMK Came To Power In 2021

dmk stooge kamal haasan

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who was announced as the DMK’s nominee for a Rajya Sabha seat, is under public scrutiny following the disclosure of his assets in nomination documents filed on 6 June 2025. The documents reveal that Haasan holds assets totaling ₹305.55 crore — comprising ₹59.69 crore in movable assets and ₹245.86 crore in immovable properties. Interestingly, his liabilities have remained unchanged at ₹49 crore over the past four years.

According to his latest income tax filings for 2023–24, Haasan reported earnings of ₹78.9 crore, a massive increase from ₹22.1 crore that was reported in 2019–20, when he filed his nomination for the Assembly elections in 2021.

His movable assets alone grew by nearly ₹15 crore since 2021, when he had declared ₹45.09 crore. As for immovable properties, they are now valued at ₹245.86 crore up from ₹131.84 crore just four years ago.

Among his immovable assets, Haasan owns four commercial buildings two in Alwarpet, one in Uthandi, and another in Sholinganallur — collectively valued at about ₹111.1 crore. He also possesses agricultural land in Vilpatti village, Dindigul, worth ₹22.24 crore.

Coming to luxury vehicles, he has replaced his BMW 730 LD (bought in 2015) and Lexus LX 570 (acquired in 2018) with updated models and has added a Mercedes-Benz to his collection since 2021.

Despite his transformation into a political figure, Haasan continues to identify professionally as an “artist” and lists his education as Class 8, completed at Sir M Ct. Muthiah Chettiar Boys Higher Secondary School in Purasaiwalkam.

However, this new avatar of Kamal Haasan — now a vocal supporter of the Dravidian party — contrasts sharply with the man he once presented himself to be. Before aligning with the DMK, his declared movable assets included ₹2.43 crore in bank accounts, ₹26.1 lakh in investments like mutual funds and stocks, ₹2.39 crore in insurance, ₹36.24 crore in personal loans given, and ₹3.69 crore in vehicles — notably the BMW and Lexus he no longer owns. This brought his total movable assets to just over ₹45 crore.

His immovable assets earlier consisted of ₹17.79 crore worth of agricultural land (about 35.59 acres), and commercial properties in Chennai worth ₹92.05 crore. He also held two residential properties in Chennai valued at ₹19.5 crore and co-owned a property in London estimated at ₹2.5 crore.

On the liabilities front, Haasan declared ₹49.5 crore — of which ₹33.16 crore was attributed to housing, mortgage, insurance, and other loans. The remaining ₹15.33 crore was money owed to individuals or private entities.

What’s striking is the sudden spike in Kamal Haasan’s income and assets — from a mere ₹9 crore declared the year before, and just ₹16 crore the year prior to that, to an explosive ₹78.9 crore in 2023–24.

The timing of this upward trajectory conveniently aligning with his political compromise and DMK’s nomination to the Rajya Sabha raises more than just eyebrows. It paints the picture of a man who has not only performed well on screen but has also proven to be an adept actor off-screen, turning political loyalty into personal gain, while leaving behind those who once stood by him and his party’s original ideals.

First Afridi, Now Azerbaijan: Malayali Diaspora Group WMC Promotes Tourism In Azerbaijan Which Supported Pakistan During Operation Sindoor

world malayalee council wmc conference baku azerbaijan tourism pakistan operation sindoor

The World Malayalee Council (WMC), a prominent organization representing the global Malayali diaspora, has come under fire for its decision to host the 14th Biennial Global Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 28-29 June 2025. The announcement has triggered widespread outrage, especially in light of Azerbaijan’s recent public support for Pakistan during India’s counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, conducted in May 2025.

The WMC’s promotional material for the conference has been criticized for resembling a tourism advertisement rather than an international cultural and professional gathering. Marketed as the “Exciting WMC Global Conference Package,” the event offers a range of travel and leisure activities, including luxury hotel stays, daily meals, guided city tours, sightseeing at prominent locations like Fountain Square, the Fire Temple, and the Blazing Mountains, as well as gala dinners, DJ parties, and dance performances — both Arabic and Western.

Critics argue that the tone and content of the promotions appear to trivialize the political sensitivities surrounding Azerbaijan’s stance toward India, especially in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 Indian pilgrims. Following the attack, Azerbaijan, alongside Turkey, had issued strong statements of solidarity with Pakistan and reportedly supplied arms that were used by Pakistan in the conflict, including Turkish-made drones. This prompted widespread calls for an Indian boycott of both Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Despite the diplomatic tensions, the WMC has actively encouraged Malayalis across the globe to “visit and experience Azerbaijan,” further escalating the backlash. Many online users and political commentators have accused the WMC of undermining national sentiment by promoting tourism to a nation viewed by many Indians as hostile.

The controversy has gained additional traction due to the WMC’s political reach. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had inaugurated the 14th Biennial Global Conference of the WMC during a pre-event held in Thiruvananthapuram in August 2024. The group is known for its influence within the Malayali expatriate community and has hosted several high-profile political figures over the years.

Some commentators now argue that hosting the event in Baku risks legitimizing Azerbaijan diplomatically among Indians and could sway public opinion at a time when national unity against cross-border terrorism is critical.

Parallels to Recent Afridi Controversy

The WMC incident follows closely on the heels of another controversy involving the Cochin University B.Tech Alumni Association (CUBAA), which drew intense criticism for inviting former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi to a cultural event in Dubai on May 25, 2025. Afridi, a vocal critic of Indian security forces, had referred to them as “inefficient” after the Pahalgam incident and had led a car rally in Pakistan celebrating what he termed a “victory” against India post-Operation Sindoor.

Following public uproar, CUBAA issued an apology, claiming that Afridi’s presence at the event was “unannounced and unsolicited.”

World’s Largest Container Ship MSC IRINA Arrives At Adani’s Vizhinjam International Seaport

In a historic feat, the world’s largest container ship MSC IRINA arrived at Adani Group’s Vizhinjam International Seaport on Monday, which will be berthed till Tuesday. This highlights Vizhinjam’s capabilities in handling Ultra-Large Container Vessels (ULCVs). The MSC IRINA — the world’s largest container ship by TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) capacity — boasts an impressive capacity of 24,346 TEUs, making it a formidable player in global shipping.

With a length of 399.9 metres and a width of 61.3 metres, the vessel is approximately four times longer than a standard FIFA-designated football field. Designed specifically to facilitate the transportation of large volumes of containers between Asia and Europe, the MSC IRINA is pivotal in enhancing trade routes and logistics efficiency.

The monumental arrival marks a significant milestone for the seaport, which was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2. The port, developed and operated by Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, has recently welcomed other icon-class vessels, including MSC Turkiye and MSC Michel Cappellini, further establishing its reputation as a key hub in maritime trade. The MSC IRINA was launched in March 2023 and embarked on its maiden voyage in April of the same year.

It sails under the Liberian flag and is engineered to stack containers up to 26 tiers high, offering unparalleled capacity in container stacking. Notably, the MSC IRINA surpasses its predecessor, OOCL Spain, by a margin of 150 TEUs. In alignment with contemporary environmental standards, the vessel is equipped with energy-saving features that contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions by up to 4 per cent, significantly lowering its carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency.

The docking of the MSC IRINA at Vizhinjam International Seaport not only underscores the port’s strategic importance in global shipping but also represents a leap forward in sustainable maritime practices, setting a benchmark for future developments in the industry.

Congress Leader And Supreme Court Advocate Aarfa Khanam Shares Post Promoting Cow Slaughter On Bakrid, Issues Apology After Public Outrage, #ArrestAarfaKhanam Trends On Social Media

aarfa khanam congress bakrid eid ul adha cow slaughter apology arrest sharmistha panoli

A major controversy has erupted over a social media post by Supreme Court advocate and Congress leader Aarfa Khanam, who shared an Eid-ul-Adha greeting that has hurt Hindu religious sentiments. The now-deleted post featured an illustration of a young Muslim boy wearing a skullcap and leading a cow – for ritual sacrifice — a central practice of the Eid-ul-Adha festival in Islam.

The image triggered a wave of backlash online, with the hashtag #ArrestAarfaKhanam surging to the top of trending topics on X (formerly Twitter) by the afternoon of 7 June 2025. The post was condemned by thousands of users who accused Khanam of insensitivity and deliberate provocation. The cow is sacred in Hinduism, and its depiction in the context of slaughter during a festival led to accusations that Khanam was “stoking communal tensions under the guise of festival greetings.”

Screenshots of the post continued to circulate widely even after Khanam deleted the original. Despite the removal, the controversy only escalated, with multiple complaints reportedly filed with local police in different jurisdictions. However, as of 9 June 2025 morning, no formal police action has been announced.

Apology Issued, But Questions Persist

In response to the growing uproar, Khanam issued a written apology on X and released a video message expressing regret. She added that she removed the post immediately upon realizing her “mistake,” insisting that her only intent was to convey Eid greetings and not to offend. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a post was shared from my x account, which had no intention of hurting the sentiments of any religion or community. However, if that post has caused any hurt especially if it has offended the feelings of any member of the Hindu community I sincerely apologize for it. I have complete respect for all religions and beliefs. As soon as I realized my mistake, I immediately removed it. My intention was only to share festival greetings, not to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. Let us all come together to promote harmony, peace, and mutual respect.

Despite her ‘apology’, critics noted that Khanam reposted several comments that defended the original image and argued that it was not offensive. This dual stance — apologizing while simultaneously endorsing posts that dismissed the outrage — further fuelled the controversy, with many accusing her of insincerity.

Sharmistha Panoli Arrest

The incident has sparked calls for legal action under laws relating to the hurting of religious sentiments. Activists and social media users have cited the recent case of Sharmistha Panoli, a social media user who was arrested after posting content deemed offensive to Islamic beliefs. Despite her own apology, Panoli was taken into custody, leading many online to question what they call selective enforcement of the law.

“If an apology couldn’t save Sharmistha Panoli, why should it save Aarfa Khanam?” has become a widely echoed sentiment across social media platforms. The comparison has sharpened the debate over the double standards in legal and political treatment based on the individual’s religion or political affiliation.

Numerous voices have emerged alleging bias in legal responses, with users across political lines demanding impartial action regardless of the individual’s background. With the hashtag #ArrestAarfaKhanam surpassing over 500,000 posts in less than 24 hours, public pressure on law enforcement agencies is mounting. While multiple FIRs have reportedly been filed in various states, clarity on any investigation or legal proceedings against Khanam remains pending.

Hindu Girl From Bengal Lured By Fake Job Offer Held Captive And Tortured By Aryan Khan For 3 Months

A harrowing incident of captivity, torture, and sexual assault has come to light in West Bengal, leaving the community in shock. Girl X (name withheld) a resident of Sodepur and a former employee of an event management company, was allegedly lured with a fake job offer and subjected to months of brutal mistreatment.

Girl X disappeared on December 31, 2024, after being taken to a flat in Howrah by a youth named Aryan Khan, who had promised her a better job. According to the allegations, what followed was a nightmare lasting over five months. Aryan Khan, along with his sister Joya Khan, allegedly held Girl X captive, subjecting her to severe torture and repeated sexual assault. The victim’s injuries include a broken hand and leg, sustained due to excessive violence. Disturbing reports suggest that a rod was forcibly inserted into her private parts, and she was deprived of food for extended periods. Her hair was also forcibly cut and her body burnt with cigarettes.

Girl X was rescued on June 6, 2025, and is currently receiving critical care at Sagar Dutta College and Hospital. Images shared on social media depict a stark contrast between her pre-incident appearance—adorned with pink hair clips and a confident smile—and her current condition, marked by visible trauma and a shaved head, hinting at the extent of the physical and psychological abuse she endured.

The accused, Aryan Khan and his family members, including Joya Khan, are currently absconding. A police manhunt is underway, with authorities conducting raids at their residence in Domjur, though the suspects remain at large. The Times of India reported that both Aryan and his mother, identified as a social media content creator named Shweta Khan, have a criminal past, adding to the urgency of the investigation.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with users demanding swift justice and improved law enforcement in the region. The West Bengal Police have yet to issue an official statement, but the case has reignited concerns about safety and the vulnerability of individuals to such predatory schemes.

The BJP’s West Bengal unit has expressed concerns over the incident.
