Deport William Dalrymple for his anti-India stand, Supreme Court lawyer Monika Arora files complaint

A complaint has been filed against leftist ‘historian’ William Dalrymple with the Consular, Passport and Visa Division of Ministry of External Affairs by senior Supreme Court Advocate Monika Arora who has accused him of interfering in India’s internal affairs.

In her complaint, she has charged him with violating Visa conditions by engaging in activities interfering in India’s internal affairs.

Dalrymple is a national of the United Kingdom and has an Indian Business Visa.

Monika Arora in her complaint says, “It has been observed however that Mr Dalrymple has been deliberately engaging in activities that interfere with India’s internal affairs,”.

The complaint further says that William Dalrymple is interfering in the country’s internal affairs by putting out public statements, interviews that concern India’s democratic and political processes.

Another important accusation against this Mughalophile is that he has been actively canvassing against the CAA by peddling half-truths, commenting against the Indian Government and making snide remarks against Indian citizens.

Several instances have been listed where Darlymple’s statements and articles have been written against India’s integrity, sovereignty and displayed a blatant bias against a democratically elected government.

After the abrogation of Article 370, Dalrymple gave his support to Kashmiri separatists and expressed his opposition.

Accoriding to the complatent, India had deported foreign nationals who took part in anti-CAA protests like Jakob Linthendal, a German citizen studying at IIT Madras, Jenny Metty Johansson of Norway living in Kochi, and Bangladeshi national Afsara Anika Meem, who lives in Kolkata.

They were asked to leave the country because they violated their visa norms by indulging in activities in anti-India activities.

So by that precedence William Darlymple’s visa should also be revoked for his anti-India activities and ban him from entering the country again, says the complaint.

Monica Arora is one of  the authors of the book ‘Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story’ whose publication by Bloomsbury was stopped after a section of left wing authors and intellectuals put pressure on the publishing company.

However, ‘Garuda Publications’ took the mantle to publish this book which saw all records broken when 15,000 copies were sold in less than 24 hours.

Lies, damned lies, outright lies and DMK

Many who come across as ‘social activists’ today, seem to be agents of the DMK. They emerge either as tacit supporters of the party by masquerading as ‘social activists’ or they are very open about it. Then there are the likes of Karthikeya Sivasenapathy who lie through their teeth for their survival.

The Jallikattu protest which started as a student led protest against PETA was hijacked by this man for his own popularity. He portrayed himself as the saviour of Jallikattu and has since then become a prominent face gaining some youngsters as followers on social media.

Jallikattu Movement Press Meet | hip hop tamizha,Siva senathipathi PART 2 - YouTube

Since then he is known for eulogizing the most corrupt party of Tamil Nadu – the DMK, while positioning himself as someone not affiliated with the party.

However, his cloak dropped off when he tried to act smart on Twitter while responding to Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President and former IPS officer K. Annamalai. Just a few days before that, he had called on DMK chief MK Stalin’s son and the party’s youth wing secretary ‘actor’ Udhayanidhi Stalin, probably to pitch himself as a probable MLA candidate.

After Dharmapuri DMK MP Senthilkumar backed off from an open debate with Annamalai citing parliament session as a reason, Karthikeya Sivasenapathy jumped-in in an attempt to save the DMK’s face. In a Tamil Youtube channel started by Senthil, one of the expelled news anchors from News 18 Tamil Nadu, Sivasenapathy had challenged for a debate with Annamalai. However, Annamalai had politely declined saying that he was looking forward to engage with a member who wants to represent people and work for the state.

To this, Sivasenapathy had tweeted to Annamalai that if the latter could arrange a debate between him and Prime Minister Modi, he would be obliged to arrange the same with ‘his party leader’ and Annamalai. He also added that he was a DMK member since 1996.

So, when the Jallikattu protest happened in which Tamil Nadu youngsters had barred all political parties from participating, this man like a fox clandestinely entered the scene hiding about his DMK affiliation and hijacked the protest to spread anti-Modi and anti-AIADMK rhetoric when both these parties had nothing to do with the ban of the sport whatsoever.

Recently, he posted about the state of Tamil Nadu’s economy on his twitter page. The information he shared does not even have an iota of truth. Knowing that the evidence could not be given if asked, he released the fake data, graphs and concepts handed over by DMK’s new master I-PAC.

Also, the post was ditto copied from the tweet of Suresh Sambandam who has become the DMK’s new poster boy after his interview with Neeya Naana Gopinath became viral.

However, netizens were quick enough to point out that the data and information shared were nothing but outright lies.

A person named Purushothaman has researched the information given on the official website of the Government of India and proved with evidence that whatever has been peddled by these two people is nothing but lie.

Tamil Nadu has always been ahead of rest of the country for a long time in history. Especially during the British period, the development of Tamil Nadu (then Madras Presidency which included Andhra, parts of Karnataka, Kerala and extended upto Odisha) was as good as that of Bombay and Bengal Presidencies. But DMK sympathizers who are good at telling stories portray as if the state owes its growth to DMK.

Here are few numbers to put things in perspective.

The DMK sympathizers claim that the GDP of Tamil Nadu had grown from $0.34 billion in 1970 to $260 billion today, 764 times, while India grew only 47 times from $62 billion to $2.9 trillion. However, this is a totally flawed comparison. If in 1970 Tamil Nadu GDP was $0.34 billion and India’s GDP was $62 billion, Tamil Nadu’s share in Indian GDP turns out to be only 0.5% which cannot be the case.

Official statistics available with the Government of India show that in 1970-71, India’s GDP (at factor cost) was ₹44382 crores, while Tamil Nadu’s GDP was ₹2371 crores i.e., Tamil Nadu contributed 5.3% to India’s GDP.

Suresh has cleverly/ignorantly taken Tamil Nadu’s GDP at factor cost and India’s GDP at nominal value to draw comparisons. It is basic economics knowledge that one cannot compare GDP at factor cost with nominal GDP. (Once again, Mr. Suresh proves that he is a certified Murasoli reader.)

So, in essence, during the first 15 years of DMK rule, Bihar’s growth rate was slightly higher than that of Tamil Nadu. This seems to have continued until 2000.

So as it turns out, during the first 15 years of DMK rule, Bihar’s growth rate was slightly higher than that of Tamil Nadu. This seems to have continued until 2000.

The growth of Tamil Nadu post the 1990s has been due to the liberalization, privatization and globalisation reforms brought about by the Narasimha Rao government at the Centre. Thankfully, the state was when India was liberalized the state was governed by AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa.

Seen in that light, all the southern states have grown since liberalization. The development of Tamil Nadu should not always be compared with other northern states simply because the southern states have had a geographical (coastline) and historical advantage. It is good that we serve as a benchmark for several states. But one should not boast about oneself and demean the efforts of others. Tamil Nadu should be looking up European and Scandinavian countries and not look back to see how far we are ahead of other states.

It is not to say that nothing happened during the DMK rule. Yes, every government had contributed its fair share to the state’s prosperity. But to say that Tamil Nadu owes its development to one party and one leader who was known for scientific corruption is just humbug.

Citizens of Nepal hold protests against Chinese encroachment of its territories in Humla district

After unleashing the Wuhan virus pandemic on to the world China is now taking advantage of the crisis by trying to grab more territories of other countries. While India has been resisting its expansion on Eastern Ladakh, China seems to have occupied large swathes of land inside Nepal. Protests have broken out in Nepal over the occupation of its land by China. Nepalese youth raised slogan in front of the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu against the construction made by China on encroached land in Humla district of Northern Nepal.

The protestors flashed banners with slogans like “Go Back China” and “Back off China” and shouted the slogans of “Down with Chinese Imperialism”, “Return the Encroached Nepali Land” and so on.

This protests will create huge problem for the Nepal Prime Minster KP Sharma Oli who is seen as a Chinese stooge.

As Nepal falls deeper into Chinese debt trap, China resorted to same tactics of expansion by claiming new territories as its own and has carried out construction work on it.

Chinese Embassy spokesperson in Kathmandu Wang Xiaolong claimed that China has the evidence and the documents to show that the land belongs to it.

China has reportedly erected 11 building on the Nepalese territory of Humla. However, all the buildings are unoccupied except one building in which Chinese forces are living.

Nepali Prime Minister Oli who involved in a tussle with India over so called encroached territories has not said any thing  with regards to Chinese encroachment on Nepalese territory.

Death knell sounded for trouble making and Church funded NGOs, as expected the NAM troika whines

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday (September 23) passed the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020, that is set to bring about significant changes in foreign funding rules to ensure transparency and prevent misuse of the funds. The bill that was passed by the Lok Sabha on Monday was called by the CEO of Oxfam India as a ”devastating blow”. Many others from the NGO sector, academia and media have called the amendment ‘draconian’, ‘cumbersome’ and an attempt to ‘kill’ the sector.

Of course, the amendment has been brought to serve as a death blow – not for those who are involved in rendering true service but for those who foment trouble in the name of ‘activism’. These NGOs under the guise of social work indulge in inciting people against development projects or engage in religious conversion.

Currently, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of NGOs – 3251 – that are registered with the FCRA and incidentally, all the protests against development projects are also concentrated in this region. There is a protest for anything and everything under the garb of saving Tamil culture, farmers, environment and social justice.

Starting with the Jallikattu protests in the recent years, which was initially a student led protest against PETA, ended up as a protest against the Modi government and the state government both of which had no role whatsoever in banning the sport. Since then, the state had witnessed a multitude of protests –  the Thoothukudi Sterlite protests, protests against development projects like Indian Neutrino Observatory, Salem 8 lane highway project and Sagarmala project, protests against policies like the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 and currently the New Education Policy.

It is not that these protests are happening only against the present regime. The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant too faced similar hurdles. In 2012, when Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, he openly said that foreign funded NGOs were behind the anti-Kudankulam stir in Tamil Nadu led by R. Udhayakumar. The present Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanaswamy who was then a Minister of State for the Prime Minister’s Office even gave the details of all the NGOs connected with which Udhayakumar was linked with, when the latter had served a legal notice to both Naranaswamy and Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Home Ministry had freezed the accounts of four NGOs – Tuticorin Diocese Association (TDA), Tuticorin Multipurpose Social Service Society (TMSSS), People’s Education for Action and Liberation and Good Vision Trust.

Most of the money is church money

According to the 2011-12 Annual Report on Receipt and Utilization of Foreign Contribution by Voluntary Associations, the highest receipt of foreign contribution was reported by Delhi (₹2285.75 crore), followed by Tamil Nadu (₹1704.76 crore) and Andhra Pradesh (₹1258.52 crore) and among the districts, the highest receipt of foreign contribution was reported by Chennai (₹889.99 crore), followed by Mumbai (₹825.40 crore) and Bangalore (₹812.48 crore).

Amitabh Behar, CEO of Oxfam India in an article published in the Scroll says that foreign funds linked to the church is a ‘myth’ and that most of these funds are from ‘philanthropic bodies or governmental agencies that have no association with the church’ and focused towards ‘developmental questions like poverty eradication, creating livelihood options for the poorest of the poor or work for gender justice’. However, contrary to his claims, the FCRA 2011-12 Annual Report (the latest that seems to be available) notes that the top donors for the year were Compassion International, USA (₹183.83 crore) followed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, USA (₹130.77 crore) and the Kinder Not Hilfe e. V (KNH), Germany (₹51.76 crore). Compassion International, a Christian aid organization which was made to shut shop in 2017 had openly acknowledged that it funded local evangelical Christian churches.

Wolves in sheep’s clothing

A lot of the other organizations may appear on the outside to be working for social causes. But they are nothing but wolves in sheep’s clothes.

The Commune had earlier exposed the funding and working of two such NGOs –  The Other Media, one of the FCRA NGOs that was instrumental in closing down Vedanta’s Sterlite Copper Plant at Thoothukudi and Centre for Promotion of Social Concerns aka People’s Watch, an NGO based out of Madurai working in the area of ‘human rights’.

It is NGOs such as these that the government and people should be wary of as they are heavily funded by the church. In 2012, The Other Media got ₹71550 as donations from World Association For Christian Communication, Canada – an organization that claims to promote ‘social justice’ to people of all faiths, ethnicities, and cultures worldwide. The same organization contributed ₹5,76,990 in 2011. Two other organizations named Catholic Organization for Relief and Development Aid (CORDAID) of Netherlands and Trócaire, the official overseas development agency of Catholic Church in Ireland, have contributed millions of rupees during the period from 2007 to 2011. These two organizations have contributed the most to TOM during this period. (Click here to read more about The Other Media)

CPSC on the other hand had received funds worth several crores from MISEREOR, a German Catholic Bishops’ Organization and Bread for the World, another Christian advocacy organization based in the United States with ties to many NGOs linked to the church in India. (Click here to read more about CPSC).

The much needed death blow

The new amendments, as rightly pointed out by Amitabh Behar and the NGO group VANI rightly serves as a death blow to these NGOs. From now, not more than 20%  of the foreign contributions can be used by the FCRA registered NGOs to meet their administrative expenses like paying salaries. It also prohibits individuals or NGOs from transferring their foreign contribution to a third party. For example, The Other Media cannot transfer its foreign funds to other smaller NGOs (mostly church-linked) working in India.

In case the NGO is suspected of any violation of FCRA norms, the government (pending further inquiry) can direct the NGO to not spend the un-utilised funds or receive the remainder of the foreign funds.

Aadhar card has been made mandatory for all office bearers and directors for any new registration for an FCRA certificate or a renewal. In case of foreign office bearers, they would need to furnish a passport or OCI card.

None of these provisions would affect the NGOs that are working towards people welfare by tapping into domestic funding like CSR.

Who are whining?

It is the NGOs that indulge in preying on vulnerable souls and incite people in the name of ‘activism’ which will be facing the heat. They with their comrades in the academia and media (NAM troika) who scratch each other’s back to promote themselves will be severely hit with livelihood becoming a question for them.  Not the ones that supplement the government’s efforts in reaching out to the poor and need by providing welfare services.

China increases the price of KSM to intimidate Indian pharmaceutical companies

As more companies move out of China due to its belligerent attitude and India standing up to its scare tactics, China has increased prices of key starting materials (KSM) up to 20 per cent, according to a report in Times of India.

This is seen as a retaliation against India after it banned many Chinese apps. However, China has left prices of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) unchanged. China

China in the last few decades has managed to control the global supply chain which is now viewed by many countries as an inequitable. India over the years has become a major player in the global pharma market and it relies on China for the supply of KSMs and APIs, as much as 80%

Dependency on key antibiotics like penicillin is almost 90% and China wants to increase the prices of KSM to discourage indigenous API manufacturing capabilities, thus making units unviable and APIs less competitive against Chinese products globally.

India has taken the measure to incentivise indigenous manufacturing of API as a move to counter China which for years enjoyed trade surplus with India.

However, many see this move could prove counterproductive for China and if India implements some comprehensive policy initiatives to help domestic manufacturers the Chinese threat could be neutralized.

Already many are asking the government to promote Public Sector Units (PSUs) for manufacturing APIs as they have played a major role in the development of the Indian pharmaceutical industry. But there is a need to do away with PSUs in the pharma industry because the annual report published by the Department of Pharma (DoP) states that only five pharmaceutical PSUs with the central government and two are in very poor condition and one is incipient sick and two are in ₹25-crore profit each.

China increasing the prices of KSM should be seen as a challenge by India because it is a sign of its weakness and its punitive behaviour. This is the right opportunity to shift the global supply chain away from China and become the industrial hub for the global pharmaceutical companies.

Flt Lt Shivangi Singh, the 1st woman pilot in India’s first Rafale squadron

As the Indian military stands firm against the constant bullying of China, the 17 Squadron, ‘Golden Arrows’ in Ambala will have its first woman fighter pilot – Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh. Flt Singh will become the first women to pilot the newly commissioned 4.5 generations Rafael for the  Indian Air Force’s (IAF) as reported by India Today.

Flt Lt Singh was commissioned into the IAF in 2017 and became the second batch of women fighter pilots. A native of Varanasi, Flt Lt Shivangi Singh is currently undergoing conversion training, after the completion of which she will be involved in learning complex electronics and weapons systems.

India Today had reported on Monday on the development that a woman fighter pilot of the IAF was selected to join the newly inducted Rafale fighter fleet. However, this information was not made public until there was clearance from the IAF.

After her commissioning in 2017, Flt Lt Shivangi Singh has been flying MiG-21 Bisons which many call the best and the most difficult plane to learn the art of combat flying.

At present, she is posted in the border base in Rajasthan and will arrive in Ambala at a later date. In Rajasthan, she has flown alongside Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, credited with shooting down a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter craft on February 27 last year near the LoC.

Flt Lt Shivangi had always dreamed of becoming a pilot from a young age and she did her graduation from the prestigious Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where she was part of the 7 UP Air Squadron in the National Cadet Corps.

After her graduation, she was selected to the Air Force Academy for training in 2016 and from flying the oldest fighter MiG-21, she will now fly the newest fighter in the IAF inventory. Also, her fellow coursemate and fellow woman fighter pilot Flt Lt Pratibha is understood to be flying Su-30 MKI kegs at this time.

At present, the Rafale fighters are operating on the Ladakh heights, flying familiarity sorties as the border tension with China sees no end of peaceful and equitable resolution.

As a ‘long winter’ awaits, DRDO working on tech to cultivate vegetables in harsh winters

As the winter sets in the rugged mountains of the Himalayas coupled with escalating ties with China, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is working on methods to cultivate vegetables in such weather conditions for the forces stationed at the heights.

The DRDO is working on technologies like passive greenhouse technology, zero energy-based technique storage, and microgreens. The research is being done by DRDO’s Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR).

Speaking to ANI, DIHAR’s Director, Dr Om Prakash Chaurasia said “With DRDO technology and hill council, all vegetables can be grown in summer but now our focus is on winters that how to augment the availability of fresh items in winters. There are two approaches, one is to standardise the greenhouse technology. This (Leh) place has high intercity of solar even during peak winter period so we are working on a passive greenhouse. We will be able to grow cabbage, cauliflower, and even tomato even in the month of January where the temperature drops till -25 degrees. We have an underground greenhouse as well. Another approach is to develop the storage of vegetables grown in summers. It is zero energy-based storage technology. Potato, cabbage, cauliflower, Raddish, carrot can be stored for 4-5 months,”.

DIHAR is working on cultivating superfoods like Quinoa, chia seed, seabuckthorn, and Goji Berries which are exclusively grown in Leh.

“Oxygen level is low and under stress condition in this area. So, we require foods which are enriched with nutrition. We are cultivating a superfood which is a food which you consume less and it is more effective. We are cultivating foods like Quinoa, chia seed, seabuckthorn, and Goji Berries,” he added.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to our troops in August last year, he made a mention of a special plant named ‘solo’ which is also known as the Sanjeevani herb that is found in Ladakh.

Describing the utilities of solo herb which is known as Sanjeevani, Dr Chaurasia said, “Himalaya is a treasure of herbs. Sanjeevani is one of the herbs found in the Himalayas. Its scientific name is Rhodiola. It cures fatigue, mountain sickness, and works on memory boosting. The roots of Sanjeevani have the fragrance of a rose. DRDO is working with UT administration for mass cultivation of it.”

DIHAR is already working on microgreen plants which soldiers can grow in harsh conditions and can be grown in 10-15 days. The Indian Army is deployed in some of the harshest enviornemts in the world and through technology, microgreen plants will be available to our to jawans.

GBCI announces new Safety First Pilot Credits for PEER rating system in response to COVID-19

Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the premier organization independently recognizing excellence in green business industry performance and practice globally, announced the release of Safety First Pilot Credits for its PEER rating system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Performance Excellence in Electricity Renewal (PEER) promotes best practices and establishes performance measures that enhances power system performance to make it more reliable, resilient and efficient. To ensure that the electrical systems are operated safely during re-occupancy or restarting of equipments post pandemic, PEER has introduced the Safety First Pilot credits for all cities, utilities, campuses and transit projects.

The first of PEER’s three Pilot Credits provides suggestions on re-starting the power system and other electrical equipments with special focus on the health and hygiene measures.

As some countries begin to ease their COVID-19 restrictions, governments are beginning to reopen public transport systems as people would return to work and school. Potential passengers are naturally reluctant to travel in masses as transit systems seek ways to operate safely. PEER’s second Pilot Credits provides guidance on the strategies and measures that transit operators can implement to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in public transportation. This also lists the safety procedures that transit projects should follow, including needed recommissioning to prevent damage on electrical systems.

PEER’s Safety First Pilot Credit 3 promotes best digital practices that reduce manual operations, enhance data-driven control and optimize electrical equipment.
