“Bajrang Dal activist, That’s it, That’s the tweet”, says Gaana employee on Rinku Sharma’s brutal murder

Gaana app employee

26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist Rinku Sharma was stabbed to death in front of his parents in his own house, allegedly after arguments over the donation drive for Ayodhya Ram Mandir Temple construction.

A mob of around 25-30 people brutally stabbed Rinku Sharma to death in front of his parents on February 10 (Wednesday).

The police have arrested the four assailants, who entered Rinku’s house and killed him in cold blood. The accused are Mohammad Islam, Danish Nasruddin, Dilshan and Dilshad Islam, according to social media posts.

In light of this, an employee of music streaming service app Gaana, has put out a tweet that comes across as legitimizing this brutal murder.

One Tanzila Anis, who works as a Content Head at Gaana, commenting on the murder said “Bajrang Dal activist, That’s it, That’s the tweet”.

With her tweet going viral on Twitter and other social media platforms, she has now locked her profile.

Tanzila Anis seems to be a serial abuser and peddler of hatred, particularly targeting the Hindu community.

In 2012, she wrote “I have thing for mythological dick”, in an apparent reference to Lord Shiva. In another tweet on Lord Shiva she said “I just saw this huge Shiva idol with legs spread wide. I want to stand under it. Who wants to join me in this #blasphemy”.

In April 2013, she said that Lord Krishna indulged in ‘orgy’ with gopis (Lord Krishna’s women devotees). “This boy is mad”, she had tweeted.

She had also slandered Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman by making inappropriate references. In another tweet put in March 2015, she said that there must be an outrage on why there are more Hindus in India.

Many are now lashing out at Gaana app and questioning if the organization does not do social media background checks before employing people.

Some have also uninstalled the Gaana app.

China bans BBC for ‘undermining national interests and ethnic solidarity’

China, in a purely retaliatory move, has officially banned the BBC World News Television from broadcasting in China days after Beijing’s primary international news channel lost its license in the U.K.

Many are seeing this as a punitive action by China, which on the one hand preaches to the world on the importance of freedom of speech and at the same time violently suppresses information in its own country. Last week, Britain’s media regulator Ofcom revoked the broadcasting license of Chinese English-language broadcaster China Global Television Network (CGTN).

The decision to cancel CGTN’s license in Britain was taken by Ofcom after it was determined that the network isn’t sufficiently “independent of the Chinese government control”.

In a statement released on Thursday (Feb 11), the National Radio and Television Administration of China said that an investigation had concluded that BBC’s reporting on China “seriously violated” Chinese media regulations.

According to the Chinese regulator, BBC had violated regulations requiring true and impartial reporting and that its China-related reports have undermined the country’s “national interests and ethnic solidarity.”

British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab called China’s decision “an unacceptable curtailing of media freedom” and said it would “only damage China’s reputation in the eyes of the world.”

The United States has condemned China’s decision to ban the BBC in that country. US State Department spokesperson Ned Price in a press conference said, “We absolutely condemn PRC’s decision to ban BBC World News. PRC maintains one of the most controlled, most oppressive, least free information spaces in the world. It’s troubling that PRC restricts outlets & platforms from operating freely in China”.

Price also accused China of taking advantage of free speech in the West, maliciously using free media outside China to promote misinformation.

The BBC said that it was disappointed by China’s ban, adding that it “reports on stories from around the world fairly, impartially and without fear or favor.”

Recently the BBC had made a startling revelation about the condition of Uyghur Muslims who are held in concentration camps in China and reported on the rampant abuse of men, women and children in the camps.

Bajrang Dal activist brutally murdered by Muslim mob in Delhi over fund collection for Ram Mandir

Rinku Sharma

Delhi’s Mangolpuri area, densely populated by Muslims, is now simmering under communal tensions after a 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist named Rinku Sharma was stabbed to death after arguments over the Ram Mandir donation drive.

Already there are several pictures and videos about the incident making the rounds on social media. As per reports, a mob of around 25-30 people brutally stabbed Rinku Sharma on February 10 (Wednesday).

What is even more startling is that the cold-blooded murder took place right inside his house in front of his family members.

As per the latest report, by Hindi daily Jagran, the police have arrested the four assailants, who entered Rinku’s house and killed him in cold blood. The perpetrators of this inhumane crime have been identified as Mohammad Islam, Danish Nasruddin, Dilshan and Dilshad Islam, according to social media posts.

Rinku Sharma was a long-term resident of Delhi’s Mangolpuri area and worked as a lab technician in a hospital in Paschim Vihar. He leaves behind his mother Radha Devi, father Ajay Sharma and brothers Ankit and Manu Sharma.

Rinku was actively involved in the donation drive being carried out by Bajrang Dal towards the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

As more information emerges as to what led to this most gruesome attack, it is evident that an argument ensued between the Bajrang Dal activist and his assailants over the construction and the money collected by the Hindu outfit for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Also, before the collection drive had begun, Hindu outfits in the area had organised awareness drives regarding the construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple at Ayodhya.

It was during this time that the assailants had gotten into a dispute with Rinku Sharma, but timely intervention by some people of the area had resolved the issue. However, on 10 February Rinku Sharma once again ran into the assailants at a birthday party, where they got into a heated argument.

The victim’s father told Sudarshan TV that on Wednesday night, around 25-30 persons knocked on the door of their house, attacked Rinku Sharma and Rinku’s younger brother Ankit and kicked the two of them around, subsequently  stabbing Rinku and vandalising the house.

Rinku’s father, who is an eyewitness to the murder of his own son, said that the attackers were armed with knives and lathis, and mercilessly attacked Rinku with sharp knives. He added that once Rinku was seriously injured, the assailants fled the scene.

Rinku was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri, where he succumbed to his injuries at 12 noon on Thursday.

A video of the incident has also emerged, which shows the mob attacking the family and then killing Rinku Sharma. They also tried to snatch an LPG cylinder, perhaps to use it as a weapon.

Rihanna faces another blow as Louis Vuitton withdraws her fashion line citing ‘poor sales’

Luxury fashion conglomerate Louis Vuitton, or LVMH as it is commonly known, recently suspended the fashion line “Fenty Fashion House” indefinitely, citing poor sales. It is to be noted that this account belongs to the pop star, Rihanna, who has become the favourite child of controversy after tweeting about the farmers’ protests in India.

Rihanna became the first Black woman to head a fashion label when Louis Vuitton launched her fashion line two years ago. The French fashion house is run by LMVH, which also owns Dior.

In a statement to CNN Style, LVMH said the pause was a joint decision with Rihanna “pending better conditions,” and LVMH will continue to support other elements of the Fenty empire, concentrating on “the growth and long-term development” of her beauty and skincare lines Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, as well as lingerie line Savage X Fenty. The goal is to support “the Fenty ecosystem focusing on lingerie, cosmetics and skincare,” according to the LVMH statement.

Thanks to the pandemic, personal grooming brands were the most affected and Fenty was no exception, according to their CFO. “We are still in a launching phase and we have to figure out exactly what is the right offer,” LVMH Chief Financial Officer Jean-Jacques Guiony told analysts about Fenty in October. “It’s still a work in progress.”

Tamil Nadu: Islamists threaten violence against Marwari community, asks them to leave the state

In an incident that triggers the haunting memories of the violence perpetrated on Hindus by the Islamists in Kashmir, a bunch of Islamists in Tamil Nadu belonging to a fundamentalist organization issued pamphlets asking the Marwari community to leave the state.

The pamphlet states that the Marwaris are funding the BJP which according to them is trying ‘to foment communal unrest’ in the state where Hindus, Muslims and Christians have apparently been living as ‘friends’. It also goes on to say that Marwaris are the ‘fuel’ that keeps the ‘vehicle’ BJP going and added that ‘if the fuel is stopped, the vehicle would ‘automatically stop.

It stated that any violence and damage to public property will be the responsibility of Marwari community and the government should collect compensation from them.

The pamphlet issued by a Tiruchi based Islamist group named ‘Tamizhaga Makkal Jananaayaga Katchi’ (Tamil Nadu People’s Democracy Party) has also accused the Marwari community of ‘stealing jobs and business opportunities from Tamilians’ and demanded that Marwaris leave Tamil Nadu and go back to their ‘native place’.

In the end, the pamphlet issues a threat, “We will provide a livelihood to those who come here.. if you do mischief we’ll shut down your shops permanently”.

To stir up conflict, the pamphlet also said that BJP leader Kalyanaraman spoke ill of Islam’s prophet because he has the support and financial backing of the Marwaris and asked all the shop keepers to close their shops in solidarity with Muslims in condemning Kalyanaraman’s communal speech.

Muslims in the area distributed pamphlets to the shopkeepers and not so subtly, asked them to shut their shops on 8th February.

This act of terror has sent a shockwave in the Marwari community who have settled in this area for generations and understand the local custom and language. The Marwari community is known to assimilate with any local population were it does business and have always maintained a cordial and respectful relationship.

BJP cadre protested against this hate campaign and sat in support with Marwaris and North Indian communities, demanding that TPDP must be held accountable for spreading hate against a particular community by advocating violence following which 4  functionaries from the fundamentalist organization were arrested by the police.

It is pertinent to know that TPDP was founded by one K M Shariff, a disciple of Palani Baba aka Ahmed Ali, a notorious fundamentalist Muslim leader.

This is not a new phenomenon in Tamil Nadu has seen against a particular community. The state is known for its notorious hate campaigns against Brahmins. Dravida Kazhagam, Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi, Thirumurugan Gandhi’s May 17 Movement have targeted and peddled hate against certain communities.

In recent times, Tamil Nadu has seen a dramatic rise in Islamic fundamentalism. A man named Dinesh from Chennai was attacked by 80 Muslims who threatened to kill him for distributing pens with the words ‘we support Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC)’.

Pakistan asks China to defer payments on power projects under BRI as it has no money

Pakistan which is going through its worst economic crisis has asked all-weather friend China for relief on payments for power projects Beijing financed over the past eight years under the Belt and Road Initiative.

This latest development has come with Pakistan not having enough any money to repay the debt and are in discussion to ease repayment of debt on about a dozen power plants.

China has invested nearly 70 billion dollars on China Pakistan Economic Corridor wherein China will have access to the warm water port of Gwadar in Balochistan.

China has been under increasing pressure that it hoped would ease after Joe Biden became President, however, the new administration has also criticized China for its debt traps policy.

For Pakistan, the idea of being part of the BRI was to not only get its antiquated railway system modernized but also develop many other infrastructures and reap the benefit of its geo-strategic location as the gateway to central Asia.

However, things have not panned out as they had planned and Pakistan will now formally make the request to defer debt payments to China.

Sessions court judge in Kerala gives Triple Talaq to wife, threatens her with consequences if she objects

In a shocking incident in Kerala, an upholder of the law took the law into his own hands and issued ‘Triple Talaq’ to his wife in Palakkad district.

B Kalam Pasha a session court Judge in the Palakkad district gave Triple Talaq to his wife after which she approached the Kerala High Court to move forward with a complaint against him.

Triple Talaq was made illegal by the Parliament and invites criminal proceedings against the husband who invokes it. The wife of the judge has alleged that Justice B. Kamal Pasha and his brother had threatened her of dire consequences if she refuses to the divorce.

In her complaint, the women said Kalam Pasha issued Triple Talaq against her on March 1, 2018, by a letter. However, he sent her another letter that claimed due to typing error the original date was March 1, 2017.

The change of date is nothing but a mere technicality because in order to avoid legal procedures the judge mentioned a new date before the law banning triple talaq came into force.

In India, it is not easy to register a case against a judge and only with the permission of the Chief Justice of the High Court, a case can be registered against a lower courts judge.

Previously, the primary investigation was carried out by the Vigilance department following the matter coming to the notice of High Court.

Supreme Court in August 2017 banned the practice of Triple Talaq following which the Parliament passed a bill criminalizing the barbaric practice that demeaned Muslim women and gave Muslim men unilateral power to end a marriage.

SC seeks Centre’s response on granting minority status to Hindus of 9 states

"Let The Past Not Haunt The Future": Supreme Court To Hear Challenges To Places Of Worship Act supreme court allahabad high court panchayat recount vantara waqf amendment posh babri masjid facebook post

The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday issued a notice to the Centre seeking its reply to a petition asking the apex court to define the term ‘minority’ and issue necessary guidelines for its identification. The petition also seeks the granting of the ‘minority status’ to Hindus in nine states.

The Supreme Court also sought the Central Government’s reply to the petitioner’s request for the transfer of various petitions seeking grant of minority status to Hindus in nine states, which are pending in respective High Courts, to the Supreme Court.

The petition, filed by advocate and BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyaya, challenges the validity of section 2(C) of National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, which gives unfettered power to the Centre to arbitrarily declare any community a minority. The petition says that Hindus are a minority in nine states of the country ― Ladakh, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Punjab and Manipur. Despite this, the minority Hindu populace are not getting the benefit of ‘minority status’.

The petition further states that the Central Government has declared Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains as minorities under Section 2 (c) of the Act but it has not declared Jewish and Bahais as minority.

“Legitimate share of the minorities is being siphoned off arbitrarily to unqualified sections of the population, because of non-identification and non-notification of minorities at State level,” the petition said.

Upadhyaya, in his petition, also stated that the minority welfare schemes are not being appropriately used in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

The denial of minority rights to real minorities and arbitrary and irrational disbursement of minority benefits to the majority infringes upon the fundamental right to the prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth, the petition says.

The 2002 Bench of eleven judges of the Supreme Court, while interpreting the Act of 1992, had said that minorities are considered on a linguistic or religious basis. The petition argues that states have been recognized on linguistic basis, so the status of minority should be state-wise and not at the national level.
