Complaint filed against Christian missionary organization and its head for FCRA violation and hate speech against Hindus and PM Modi

Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF), the NGO watchdog that has constantly been reporting on illegal activities of foreign funded NGOs has filed a complaint against a Christian NGO named ‘Harvest India’ and its chief functionary Suresh Kumar, for indulging in proselytization activities and violating FCRA laws.

Details of the complaint

Following suspicions around their illegal activity, LRPF filed a complaint against the organization. The complaint sheds light on explicit details about how the organization has established more than 1500 ‘community centres’ all over the country for proselytizing purposes. In addition to this there are over 1500 to 2000 pastors working in the organization as well as in various other places undercover. This complaint goes ahead to list the various instances where the organization had conducted events called ‘crusades’ to induct new members to their religion as well as train religious preachers for this purpose. The complaint questioned how an organization that was supposed to be a not for profit body could gain so much money for missionary activities.

The complaint states that there also seems to be deeper forces at play as a gigantic church that has a seating capacity of hundreds of people has been built amongst other fixed assets that the organisation has invested in. It has been alleged that there has been no records of any money spent for construction of churches from the government’s end.

In addition to this, Harvest India has not shown any records of utilisation of FCRA funds for paying the pastors or the maintenance of churches.

Chief functionary indulges hate speech against Hindus and PM Modi in USA

Suresh Kumar, the Chief Functionary of Harvest India attended the Mission Conference 2018 held at Biola University, USA three years ago. Clippings of this event show him badmouthing the country’s Prime Minister at a conference held in a foreign country, no less.

The video showed him saying the following: “Right now, we are under Hindu rule. Our Prime Minister, he is a bad guy. He doesn’t want any Christians in India. He wants to make India as only Hindu country. So many pastors killed in last 5 years. Many missionaries, they send them out. There is unrest, turmoil. Pastors are killing, Churches are burning. The government is not doing anything. Brutal mentality, we are struggling. We do not know what is going happen tomorrow to Christianity in India, to Church in India but I am believing powerful god on our side. Next year we have election, please pray. I don’t want this party to come back. This guy is doing so much bad for Christianity”.

“I shared about the nation of India. Pastors are beaten, churches are burning. 5 years churches are struggling. Hindu militants posting videos in social media – husband and wife pastors stripped naked, made to walk naked just for bearing the cross of Jesus Christ.” he says.

In addition to this, they are constantly seen speaking ill about Hinduism and justify their conversion process, saying that Christianity is a more ‘equal’ religion in comparison.

Legal violations

It has been found that the committee that runs it is comprised of people who are non citizens of India and are here on a visa. Notably, many of these people are here on an expired visa. LRPF states that these so-called pastors who come in for ‘conversion’ purposes, and more often than not, overstay their welcome.

LRPF Harvest India Compla

In light of all this, the LRPF has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to take action against the NGO and its head.

Rajasthan: 7 persecuted Hindu refugees from Pak die as they were allegedly refused beds, vaccines and insurance

In a very sad development, Hindu refugees who had flee the Islamic State of Pakistan are suffering and facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Congress ruled Rajasthan.

The persecuted Hindu migrants from Pakistan who are living in eight border districts of Rajasthan are struggling to find beds, vaccines, insurance cover, and free ration provided by the state.

The reason for the non-availability of such facilities is because of their foreign status and absence of citizenship as per a report in the Times of India.

Due to lack of proper medical care, since 20 March, seven Hindus have died in Jodhpur, which is home to 2,500 such families waiting for Indian citizenship for over several years.

While the Rohingya Muslims have been accorded several facilities, one Hindu refugee Baser Mal, who hailed from Sindh in Pakistan, died of Covid-19 on May 2 in his makeshift mud hut on the outskirts of Jodhpur. When he got sick he was taken to two private hospitals in Jodhpur where medical services was reportedly denied due to his non-citizen status.

A close relative of Mal Dr Rajkumar Bheel said, “The hospitals asked for his ID proof when we took him there on 26 April. Even for his RT-PCR test, we had to use our connections in the administration. This is how those who don’t have Indian citizenship struggle for basic facilities,”.

Dr Bheel who was a dentist from Hyderabad in Sindh province has been one of the few fortunate Hindus who have been granted Indian citizenship in 2016.

The Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) said 22,146 migrants, who have applied for citizenship, live in huts with no proper facilities. They have become vulnerable to Covid-19.

Hindu Singh Sodha, president of Seemant Lok Sangathan however said that the number over 25,000. Seemant said, “Neither they are protected under free food schemes, nor any state insurance/health schemes. They are left to fend for themselves in the most brutal manner, which is a matter of collective shame,”.

“I have written to higher authorities, seeking their guidance in providing the migrants vaccination and benefits under social welfare schemes. I am awaiting their response,” said Seemant.

It is disheartening that Rohingya Muslims are often caught with Aadhar cards and ration cards but Hindu refugees who left Pakistan because their lives were in danger are yet to be given special ration cards.

Rajashtan chief medical and health officer Balwant Manda says guidelines, in this case, are pending from the state government. “After a policy decision is taken at the government level, the requisite steps can be taken for vaccination of Pak migrants,”, it was said.

The leader of the Janapaksham party and former Poonjar MLA P C George came down heavily on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and called him “irattachankan”, (man with two hearts) for not condoling the death of the Malayali nurse who was killed in Israel.

Or the Hamas in Kerala? Maybe for the junior comrades you may be double-hearted. But both those hearts are in the control of others.”

George was relentless in his attack and did not spare the communist leaders of the state. He said, “Those people who howl based on the direction from the AKG centre are also fast asleep. Yogi Govt launches door-to-door measures to contain Wuhan Virus in rural areas

Utter Pradesh, India’s most populous state has initiated a house-to-house active case finding of COVID-19 in rural areas.

It has been led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to contain transmission by testing people with symptoms for rapid isolation, disease management, and contact tracing.

The UP government has deployed 141,610 teams and 21,242 supervisors to cover 97,941 villages in 75 districts over five days of this activity, which began on 5 May.

World Health Organisation has called this the most comprehensive drive to overcome COVID19.

On the first day itself WHO field officers monitored over 2,000 government teams that visited over 10,000 households in villages and remote hamlets to test everyone with symptoms of COVID-19 using Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) kits.

In this drive, those who test positive are isolated and given a medicine kit with advice on disease management. All contacts of those who test positive are quarantined and tested. People without signs of COVID-19 are told to get vaccinated and follow “COVID-appropriate behaviours” to prevent transmission.

WHO is also working along with the Uttar Pradesh government in training and micro-planning for the activity the drive.

HR&CE dept withdraws circular inviting ‘applications’ for apointment of ‘Jeeyar’

After facing backlash from Hindus, the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department has withdrawn the notice calling applications for the appointment of ‘Jeeyar’, the religious pontiff of the Vaishnava sampradaya.

On 6th May 2021, the HR&CE department issued a circular calling ‘applications’ for the post of Jeeyar saying that those belonging to the Thengalai sect of Vasihnava sampradaya and well versed in the Vedas, Agamas, Naalayira Divyaprabandham, and other temple traditions and rituals can apply. It said that the applications would be received till 4:00 PM, 8th of June.

Many practicing Hindus especially those of the Vaishnava sampradaya questioned as to why the government was interfering with Hindu traditions and customs alone. They had expressed their anger asking if the government has the guts to appoint the Cardinal or Archbishop of the Church or the Maulvi for a Mosque.

Political leaders like Arjun Sampath of the Indu Makkal Katchi and H. Raja of the BJP had severely criticized the move which came within days after the DMK assuming power.

Following the strong reaction from Hindus, HR&CE Minister Sekar Babu in a press meet a day ago had assured that appropriate action would be taken in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

DMK cadres resort to malpractice during issuance of COVID relief

Reports of the DMK resorting to malpractice during the distribution of the government-issued COVID relief has  come to light. DMK cadres in Thathakapatti in the Salem district had snatched away the tokens that had been kept for distribution to the public. These tokens were to be used to avail the government issued cash relief of ₹2000.

The public had to wait in the hot sun in long queues in vain. The DMK then proceeded to threaten the officer at the ration shop saying that the distribution of tokens will only be done by them and not him. This was the case in over 10 public distribution centres throughout the village.

A few members of the public even got into an argument with the members of the DMK regarding this issue. In a few centres, the DMK members threatened the press that had gathered there and prevented them from filming. In a few other centres, the DMK members fled the scene when they noticed that the crew was filming their malpractice.
