Anti-Hindi Party DMK MLA Ezhilan Reaches Out To Hindi Speaking People Ahead Of Elections

Anti-Hindi Party DMK MLA Ezhilan Reaches Out To Hindi Speaking People Ahead Of Elections

In a striking display of electoral desperation that has set social media abuzz, Dr. N. Ezhilan Naganathan, sitting MLA from Thousand Lights constituency, Chennai, and a key functionary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) which has for a long time has an anti-Hindi stance, was recently caught on camera engaging in a conversation with Hindi-speaking visitors, switching between Tamil and Hindi, in an apparent outreach effort ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.

DMK is known for belittling Hindi speakers and derogating them with words like ‘panipuri seller’ and what not.

The video shared by the MLA shows him chatting up Hindi-speaking people in his constituency, asking them which state they are from, cracking jokes about the Taj Mahal being in Chennai, and enthusiastically mentioning a program of Guru Maharaji (Rajendra Singh Ji) being held in the area.

He says, “Which state are they coming from? I am the MLA of this area (Is area ka MLA). MLA, MLA. So your travel (tumhara travel), travelling from Agra to Rameswaram.”

When they tell him about the programme, he says, “Dost dost, friend friend” (as if referring to the spiritual person they are mentioning)

Then pointing to the Thiruvalluvar statue nearby he says, “This is my guru (Ye mera guru hai)”

Then he explains Thiruvalluvar’s principle saying there is no difference based on one’s birth. He says, “This is Thiruvalluvar, His principle is that no one is high or low by birth — everyone is equal. (switching to Hindi, he says aadmi ko upper lower nahi hai, sab ek hai)”.

Then one of the people there asks for his name, he says, “Name? It is a purely Tamil name Ezhil. (pucca Tamil naam hai)”

Just a month ago, speaking at a public event, he made controversial remarks targeting Hindi-speaking migrants while opposing the three-language policy. He questioned their progress, stating, “People from very backward sections who studied Hindi come here and do construction work, sell pani puri, sell beeda and pakoda,” contrasting them with Tamil youth becoming “software engineers” and “doctors.” He argued that Tamil Nadu’s two-language policy enabled social mobility and warned against accepting Hindi, alleging it would hinder progress.

Coimbatore: TN Police Commandant Arrested For Sexual Harassment Of Woman Officer

A senior police officer who had been placed under suspension was arrested by the Coimbatore City Police on Saturday, 14 March 2026, in connection with allegations of sexual harassment of a woman police officer. The accused was later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.

As reported in DTNext, the arrested officer has been identified as T. Senthil Kumar, Commandant of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TNSP) IV Battalion at Kovaipudur. The 54-year-old officer had been under suspension since February following an internal inquiry into the allegations.

According to police sources, the woman officer had initially submitted complaints in December 2025 and January 2026 to senior officials, accusing Senthil Kumar of sexual harassment. The matter was subsequently referred to the Internal Complaints Committee, also known as the Vishaka Committee, which initiated a formal inquiry.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of a woman officer of Deputy Inspector General rank. Based on the findings, the committee recommended disciplinary action against the commandant.

Acting on the recommendation, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, on February 12, issued an order under sub-rule (e) of Rule 17 of the Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955, placing Senthil Kumar under suspension with immediate effect.

Following the suspension, the complainant lodged a formal police complaint on March 12 at the Coimbatore South All Women Police Station. A case was registered, and a detailed investigation was initiated.

Police officials stated that subsequent questioning of the accused officer and preliminary findings of the investigation supported the allegations made by the complainant. Based on these findings, Senthil Kumar was arrested on Saturday.

Dravidian Model: Ganja-Intoxicated Youths Chase Schoolgirl, Attack Villagers With Knives, Damage Houses In Tiruttani

Dravidian Model: Ganja-Intoxicated Youths Chase Schoolgirl, Attack Villagers with Knives, Damage Houses in Tiruttani

A violent incident involving a group of ganja-intoxicated youths has triggered fear and outrage in Veeraganallur village near Tiruttani, after a Class 10 schoolgirl was chased and villagers were attacked with weapons.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a Class 10 student, who had gone to write her public examination at a school in KG Kandigai, was returning home on a motorcycle with her elder brother, a Class 11 student. As they passed through a dense casuarina grove near Veeraganallur, they were spotted by a group of nine youths from VCR Kandigai, who were said to be under the influence of ganja.

The youths, riding three motorcycles, reportedly began chasing the schoolgirl. Alarmed by the situation, the girl’s brother sped away and managed to bring her safely home. However, the group pursued them all the way to their residence.

The girl, in a state of distress, informed her parents and local residents about the incident. When villagers confronted the youths and questioned their actions, the situation escalated. The accused attempted to attack the villagers with knives they had concealed. Though some residents initially managed to restrain them, the youths reportedly contacted others from their village, leading to the arrival of around 10 more individuals.

The situation quickly turned violent, with the group attacking residents. A woman was injured in a knife attack, while two others were assaulted. The accused were also reported to have roamed through the locality armed with weapons, creating panic among residents.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, stating that the youths chased people, shouted aggressively, and vandalized property. One resident, a pregnant woman, reported fleeing in fear as the attackers smashed household items, including ceiling fans, doors, and windows. Residents also stated that such intoxicated groups frequently create disturbances in the area, targeting passersby, including schoolchildren, and causing widespread insecurity.

The attackers damaged at least seven houses, breaking windows, doors, and other property. They also vandalized a load auto parked in the area, shattering its glass.

Villagers claimed that despite calling the emergency helpline (100), they did not receive timely assistance. As the situation worsened, some residents reportedly travelled nearly 10 kilometers in a load auto to lodge a complaint directly at the Tiruttani police station.

Allegations of police negligence have also surfaced. Residents claimed that police personnel responded insensitively, reportedly questioning why the villagers did not retaliate if the attackers were armed with knives. This response has drawn anger from locals, who questioned how unarmed civilians could be expected to confront armed assailants.

By the time police reached the village, the accused had fled the scene. Officers later inspected the area and began an investigation.

In protest against the incident and the alleged delay in police response, villagers staged a road blockade on the Tiruttani–Sholinghur highway, demanding immediate action and the arrest of all those involved.

Residents expressed deep concern over recurring incidents of violence, stating that they no longer feel safe stepping out of their homes. They highlighted the lack of security for school-going children, especially girls, and raised questions about long-term safety measures.

Villagers also stated that the accused had been threatening residents, including women, with violence, and warned that such incidents could escalate further if not addressed.

Following the protest, Tiruttani police registered a case and launched a search operation. Four individuals, identified as Kishore, Arun Kumar, Viji, and a 16-year-old boy from PCR Kandigai, have been arrested and are currently under interrogation.

Police stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack.

The woman injured during the incident is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

TVK Vijay Calls Others Corrupt; Flying Squad Seizes 250 Vessels (Gifts) Meant For Voters In Thiruchengode Ahead Of Elections

TVK chief Vijay called DMK, ‘theeyasakthi’ (evil force), the AIADMK, ‘oozhalsakthi’ (corrupt force) and brands itself ‘thooyasakthi’ (pure). But now, this thooyasakthi itself seems to be exposing its tainted shades.

A pre-election raid by the Flying Squad has put Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in an uncomfortable position, after officials seized a large cache of materials allegedly meant for voter inducement – even as party chief Vijay has been vocal in accusing rivals of corruption.

The raid was carried out at an apartment complex in Varakoorampatti near Thiruchengode, where around 250 steel vessels were confiscated. The vessels bore stickers featuring images of Vijay and party functionary Arunraj, and were found stored in bulk within the premises.

Officials at the scene documented the materials and identified that the vessels were of two types, small and large sizes. Acting on further intelligence, the Flying Squad expanded the operation after receiving inputs that similar items had been hidden in multiple houses in the same locality.

Searches were subsequently carried out in additional residences, with at least ten houses suspected to be storing more such materials. Officers were seen verifying which premises had been inspected and coordinating efforts to ensure all identified locations were checked.

Authorities confirmed that the raid was initiated following a complaint, and an investigation is now underway to determine the scale of the operation, those involved, and whether the materials were intended for distribution to voters in violation of election norms.

No Doctor On Duty: 4-Year-Old Dies In Govt PHC In Thuraiyur

No Doctor On Duty: 4-Year-Old Dies In Govt PHC In Thuraiyur

A young child has died in Tiruchirappalli district, allegedly due to the absence of medical staff at a government health facility, triggering concern among local residents over access to basic healthcare.

The incident occurred near Thuraiyur, at the Kannanoor Government Primary Health Centre. According to reports, a four-and-a-half-year-old boy was brought to the facility for treatment, but no doctor was on duty at the time. The delay in receiving medical attention is believed to have resulted in the child’s death.

Residents of Kannanoor and surrounding areas stated that the Primary Health Centre serves nearly 18 villages yet often functions without adequate staffing. They alleged that both doctors and nurses are frequently unavailable, especially during emergencies, forcing patients to travel long distances for treatment.

Locals have raised concerns over recurring difficulties in accessing timely medical care and have called for immediate steps to ensure round-the-clock availability of qualified medical personnel at the centre.

CPI Expels Leftist Dravidian Stock Mathur Sathya Over Allegations Of Sexual Exploitation Of Women, He Justifies It As ‘Consensual’

mathur sathya

Mathur Sathya J, a Tamil Nadu-based activist affiliated with the Communist Party of India (CPI), has been expelled by the party following serious allegations of sexual exploitation of women.

He was propped as an intellectual by the Leftist media like The News Minute and is known for vocal leftist commentary regurgitating the same tropes about BJP, Hindutva, etc.

The News Minute especially had done a hagiographical profile of him with the title “Meet Mathur Sathya, Salem youngster who quit IT job to work for social justice“.

They even did an exclusive podcast with him as if he was a well-reputed intellectual.

Mathur Sathya was also associated with rabid Dravidianist film director Pa. Ranjith’s Neelam Social, making videos for their YouTube channel.

However, serious allegations of sexual misconduct has been levelled against him by several women.

In a press release, the CPI said that they received numerous complaints regarding Mathur Sathya’s behavior starting from March 13, 2026 and also stated that a complaint has been filed with the Greater Chennai Police against him by the party’s Chennai district secretary SK. Siva.

The State Executive Committee meeting held on March 14, 2026, carefully examined the complaints and decided to immediately remove him from all positions he held in the party and its affiliated organizations AIYF and ISCUF. Furthermore, the Communist Party of India and its affiliated mass organizations AIYF and ISCUF have expelled Mathur Sathya from primary membership due to the gravity of the complaints received against him and the prima facie evidence that emerged during the inquiry. A complaint has also been filed with the Greater Chennai Police to take action in favour of the victim women.“, the press release stated.

In a social media post, he justified his actions saying that he did it with “explicit consent”.

The development also carries a striking irony. Mathur Sathya, who had positioned himself online as a commentator quick to level allegations and amplify moral outrage against individuals and Hindu institutions he opposed, now finds himself facing serious accusations of sexual exploitation. The same activist who helped circulate sensational baseless claims about ‘minor girls bathing half-naked’ in Isha’s Chandrakund is now under scrutiny for his own alleged conduct, bringing an abrupt collapse to the carefully cultivated image of a self-styled moral crusader.

Earlier, DMK functionary Rajiv Gandhi was accused of sliding into the DMs of party’s women cadres and sending inappropriate messages.

Madurai: Karunanidhi Statue Left Uncovered, MGR, Jayalalithaa Statues Covered After Code Of Conduct Comes Into Force

Madurai: Karunanidhi Statue Left Uncovered, MGR, Jayalalithaa Statues Covered After Poll Code Comes Into Force

A controversy has erupted in Madurai after the statue of M. Karunanidhi in the Simmakkal area was allegedly left uncovered despite the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct following the announcement of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Leaders of parties belonging to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have accused officials of acting with bias, claiming that statues of some political leaders were covered while Karunanidhi’s statue remained uncovered.

The election schedule for the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls was announced on Sunday (15 March 2026) evening, after which the Model Code of Conduct came into effect across the district. As part of the guidelines, authorities began covering statues, photographs, and political symbols associated with party leaders across Madurai district.

According to officials, municipal staff covered the full statues of MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa in the KK Nagar area using cloth, in line with the election rules.

However, NDA functionaries alleged that the full statue of Karunanidhi located in Simmakkal had not been covered, raising questions over the uniform implementation of the election guidelines.

Opposition leaders claimed that despite the Model Code coming into force and the district administration being under the supervision of the District Collector during the election period, some officials were allegedly acting in favour of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

They questioned whether free and fair elections could be conducted if such alleged bias continued and demanded that officials responsible for the lapse be transferred immediately.

₹450 Crore Turnover Firm Amrutanjan Paid ₹1,400 Monthly Rent For Kapaleeswarar Temple Land, Appeals Against Order To Pay Crores Pending In Dues

₹450 Crore Turnover Firm Amrutanjan Paid ₹1,400 Monthly Rent For Kapaleeswarar Temple Land, Files Appeal Over Crores In Dues

The management of Amrutanjan Health Care Limited, a 132-year-old Chennai-based company known for its popular pain relief balm, has filed a writ appeal before the Madras High Court challenging an order directing its eviction from land belonging to the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore.

The appeal is scheduled to be heard on Monday (16 March 2026) by a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan.

As reported in The Hindu, the case relates to 14 grounds and 910 square feet of temple land located on Luz Church Road, which had originally been leased out by the temple management to PR Sundera Iyer on 28 August 1901 for a period of 99 years at a monthly rent of ₹1,400. The lease rights were later assigned to Amrutanjan, which continued to occupy the property for decades.

According to court records, the original lease expired on 27 August 2000. After the expiry, the temple management sought to revise the rent, but the company did not agree to the enhanced amount. The temple subsequently issued a notice on 17 September 2001 asking the company to vacate the property by 1 November 2001.

When the land was not vacated, a fresh notice was issued in June 2024.

In the meantime, the Tamil Nadu government introduced Section 34A to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, 1959 through a 2003 amendment. The provision created a committee to determine fair rent for temple properties based on market value.

A committee comprising officials from the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the temple administration, and the district registrar fixed the monthly rent for the property at ₹3.30 lakh in 2005, with retrospective effect from 2001.

Amrutanjan challenged the decision before the HR&CE Commissioner. However, the appeal was not entertained as the company had not deposited the lease amount fixed by the committee, as required under the Act.

Subsequently, the company filed a writ petition in 2005 challenging the validity of Section 34A(5) of the Act. The petition remained pending for nearly two decades before it was dismissed by Justice M. Dhandapani on 25 September 2025.

In his order, the judge directed the authorities to evict the company from the temple property if it had not already been done and to recover the rent fixed by the Fair Rent Committee, including arrears, within four weeks.

Amrutanjan, which reportedly has an annual turnover of around ₹450 crore, has now filed a writ appeal challenging the order. The outcome of the case could determine whether the company must vacate the temple land and pay the accumulated rent arrears dating back to 2001.
