Thiruchabai Vettri Kazhagam: TN Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar, TVK Ministers To Attend Christian Pastors Federation Event

Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar, Several TVK MLAs To Attend Christian Pastors Federation Event

Several leaders of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), including Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar, are slated to participate in a conference organised by the Christian Churches and Pastors Federation, according to an event poster that has surfaced on social media.

The poster announces the “Christian Churches and Pastors Federation – Pastors Conference 2026” and prominently features TVK president and Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. It also lists Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar as the special guest for the event.

Besides the Speaker, the poster names several TVK legislators and office-bearers as participants, including K. Thenarasu, Kumara R., R.V. Senthilkumar, D. Sadhik Basha, R. Manoj, R. Jegatheesan, and M.R. Palani, indicating the presence of multiple elected representatives at the Christian religious gathering.

The participation of senior constitutional functionaries and ruling party legislators in an event organised by a federation of Christian pastors has drawn attention, particularly given the nature of the programme.

The development is noteworthy as Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar, a noted lay evangelist, had earlier made headlines after incorporating Biblical verses into his inaugural address from the Speaker’s Chair in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

Following his unanimous election as Speaker on a motion moved by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, Prabhakar quoted Job 9:10, Proverbs 3:27, and Mark 12:31 during his maiden speech in the Assembly, marking an unprecedented instance of Christian scripture being cited in the inaugural address of a Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker.

Prabhakar’s participation also comes weeks after he addressed a felicitation event organised by the Tamil Nadu Christian Churches Federation, where he assured attendees that he would place several demands of Christian organisations before Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. He also stated that although the government was elected by the majority, there were “abundant signs” of its commitment to minorities and urged the Christian community to “make the best use of this opportunity.”
