The brother of anti-Hindu Dravidianist film director Pa. Ranjith, Prabhu, recently found himself embroiled in a land dispute altercation. Allegedly, he along with his gang confronted a landowner, threatening violence in a bid to assert their claim which has consequently attracted a police complaint against him.
The controversy stems from a plot of land purchased by Rishi from Manali New Town near Chennai in 2019. However, Shakila, also from the same locality, contests Rishi’s ownership, leading to an ongoing legal dispute. It’s reported that Shakila reached out to Prabhu, seeking assistance.
In the ensuing events, Prabhu, accompanied by over ten individuals purportedly posing as lawyers, attempted to unlawfully enter Rishi’s premises. Clad in disguises, they vandalized surveillance cameras, causing damage. Rishi promptly reported the incident to the Manali New Town police station.
Rishi, the aggrieved party, revealed that the land was officially purchased in 2007 from one Ravichandran from Tiruvottriyur, Revathi and others. However, Shakila, allegedly a relative of the previous owners, has contested this transaction, leading to the present conflict.

In a video that is doing the rounds on media and social media, Prabhu clad like a person who goes to Sabarimala, can be seen threatening and abusing the person filming the incident.
“What will you do by taking the video? Ng*tha (abusive slang in Tamil), I’m the brother of the Chairman.“, Prabhu threatens the person recording the video.
“What man? Ng*tha, are they putting scene. You think ng*tha I don’t know to put scene? I’m here because this guy is known.. Instead of respecting me.. I’m telling you to come tomorrow to take care of it right? You’re coming here and putting scene with 10 people, and you’ll put me down is it? You think you can kill me? I dare you to keep your hand on me. Ng*tha… beware! You won’t be alive!“, Pa. Ranjith’s brother can be seen threatening another person.
He further goes on to say “Overa.. Ng*tha.. you speak like I don’t know anyone” and charges at the person recording the incident on his phone.
“Aye! Take man. Take nicely!” and starts abusing him in singular to which the man behind the camera objects. Prabhu’s supporters can then be seen hounding the person recording the incident while one of his men whisks away Prabhu.
The man behind the camera can be heard saying “He’s threatening in front of the (police) station.”
“This man, they tell he’s Pa. Ranjith’s brother right? He’s only Pa. Ranjith’s brother“, the person behind the camera says.
The recent revelation of Pa. Ranjith’s brother, Prabhu, engaging in land grabbing and presiding the kangaroo courts in Chennai has sent shockwaves through social media and his fanbase. This is particularly surprising given Pa. Ranjith is known for being socially woke and Pro-Dravidianist, advocating against casteism and promoting ‘equality’ and ‘social justice’ in his films. The contradiction of his brother’s actions, involving intrusion into privacy and arbitrary involvement in Katta panchayats, akin to a thug, has prompted reflection.
