Man dies outside MP Govt Hospital as he did not have ₹5 to pay for hospital admission

A man called Sunil Rajak had died outside a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, after having left untreated under a tree for 12 hours. It was reported that he had suffered this plight as his wife had not been able to pay ₹5 as hospital admission fee.

The victim’s wife Aarti was reported saying that she had been asked to go back and arrange the cash despite repetitively telling that her husband was still breathing and to save him. However none had stepped out to help her even after he had passed away. It was reported by the Times of India that no one had listened to her pleas even after her husband had died. She had been struggling to move her husband’s corpse with no one to help her.

While some reports claim that she had been unable to pay the hospital fees, some others had said that consultation fee in government hospitals is usually free.

Madhya Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Kamal Nath Express his anger in Twitter over this issue. In his tweet, he said, ‘This is not how I had left the state. You were busy in the auction of MLAs but a woman in Guna, carrying a toddler, kept pleading all day to save her husband’s life. He wasn’t treated because he didn’t have ₹ 5 to buy a parcha. He gasped to death in front of his wife. Is this the condition of the state under the Shivraj government?’. Meanwhile, the Guna administration has ordered a magisterial probe.
