Idols at Siruvachur Amman temple found broken once again, HR&CE remains mute spectator

With not even a month having passed after the attack on the Siruvachur Amman Temple located in Perambalur district, idols at the temple have once again been found broken with the vandals inflicting far more serious damage.

Madurakaliamman temple is a famous temple located at Siruvachchur in Perambalur district. The Goddess is said to be the family deity of Kanchi Sankaracharya.

The Periyasamy – Chelliyamman Temple and the Sengamalayar Temple are associated temples of the Madurakaliamman temple and fall under the control of Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department.

Earlier on October 7, many of the idols at the Periyasamy – Chelliyamman Temple and the Sengamalayar Temple including that of Amman, Maduraiveeran, the Saptakannis, etc were found displaced and broken by miscreants.

This time, the idols of horses, Goddess Amman, and other Gods were found broken. Many of the idols had their heads cut off which indicates that the act has been done to deliberately hurt the Hindus.

The Hindu Munnani immediately plunged into action and staged a road roko on Wednesday (October 27) against the administration’s apathy.

Many Hindu activists have been questioning the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) departments and its minister P. Sekar Babu for their silence and inaction on the matter.

Earlier a crowdfunding campaign was launched to repair the damages at the temple.

Netizens have been lashing out saying that incidents of attack on temples have been on the rise ever since the DMK came to power.
