Isha Foundation offers free cremations in all of its crematoriums for COVID victims

Steps have been taken to cremate COVID victims free of charge for the next three months in all of the 18 crematoriums that are being maintained by the Isha Foundation. In a post on its Twitter page, the Isha Foundation said: We want to be supportive of those who have lost loved ones to this virus.”

According to the report, Isha maintains 12 crematoriums in Coimbatore, four in Chennai, one each in Namakkal and Neyveli, which brings it to a total of 18 crematoriums.

Earlier, the Isha Foundation had offered 500 oxygen concentrators, 2 vehicles and several hundred PPE kits and masks to the Tamilnadu government on Saturday. They had also contributed 500 PPE kits, 5000 N95 face masks and 500 CPAP machines to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.

In addition to this, Isha volunteers including Brahmacharies, full-time volunteers and Ashram residents have been working on the ground in several villages of Tamil Nadu for more than a year as part of the Isha COVID Action agenda. Relief work includes the daily serving of Nilavembu Kashayam to the community. Other on-ground efforts include the distribution of face masks, sanitisers and PPE besides beverages and snacks to frontline workers.
