Recently, members of People for Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) reportedly rescued a dog that was tortured by unidentified people in Thrissur, Kerala.
The dog had several layers of tape wound around its mouth. Reportedly, Ramachandran, secretary of PAWS, Thrissur said that initially they thought it was a single layer of duct tape but we’re shocked to find out that there were several of them.
The tape was so tight that it had pierced the dog’s face and the skin and bones around its nose were visible.
Upon removing the tape, the dog drank two litres of water.
The dog was admitted to the hospital and given antibiotics. He is believed to be in stable condition now.
Incidents of cruelty against animals are an everyday affair. The death of a pregnant pachyderm in Kerala and the blowing off of a cow’s jaw in Himachal Pradesh has brought to focus the issue of violence against animals.
