At the Punarjani 3.0 programme, jointly organised by Hindu Seva Kendra and Kerala Adivasi Samrakshana Samiti, as many as 60 tribal families who had earlier converted to Christianity formally returned to Hindu Dharma.
The event was held amid the participation of community elders, organisers, and well-wishers, with organisers stating that the return was undertaken voluntarily and with dignity and self-respect. The families, belonging to various tribal communities, reaffirmed their cultural and spiritual roots through traditional rites conducted as part of the programme.
According to the organisers, Punarjani, meaning “rebirth” or “renewal”, is an initiative aimed at facilitating the reconnection of tribal communities with their ancestral faith, customs, and cultural practices. They emphasised that the programme focuses on restoring identity and continuity with indigenous traditions rather than coercion or inducement.
Similar programmes had been conducted earlier as part of ongoing outreach efforts among tribal communities in Kerala.
