NIA Arrests One Person From Purasaiwakkam, Chennai During Raids Linked To ISIS Recruitment Network

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting extensive searches across Tamil Nadu, targeting 20 locations in connection with suspected links to ISIS terrorist organization. The raids began early this morning and are focused on five locations in Chennai and its suburbs, as well as 15 locations in the Thirumullaivasal area of Mayiladuthurai district.

According to reports, the operation is based on information indicating that individuals in these areas have been in contact with a terrorist movement and that they have been recruiting people for ISIS terror organization. The NIA is investigating residences and properties to gather evidence and further the probe.

In Chennai, the searches are being carried out in private flats and properties in Purasaivakkam and nearby suburbs. One individual named Al Basith was arrested in Purasaivakkam, Chennai during the raids.

Meanwhile, in Mayiladuthurai, the focus is on the Thirumullaivasal village, particularly the homes of individuals such as Basith and Sadiq, who resides on Heshan Kattirupu Street.

The raids are part of an ongoing effort to crack down on activities that may jeopardize national security. Further details regarding the findings and subsequent actions are awaited as the investigation progresses.
