In yet another instance of mirroring the DMK’s fascist actions, the Chennai Cyber Crime police under the Joseph Vijay TVK government detained Tamil Nadu-based entrepreneur Prawin Ganeshan at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport over a social media post allegedly containing defamatory remarks about Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and actor Trisha Krishnan on 5 September 2026.
Ganeshan, 35, CEO of logistics firm Wintrack, was travelling from Hong Kong when immigration officials detained him after finding a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him by the Chennai Cyber Crime Police.
Ganeshan himself flagged the detention in a post on X, stating that he had been detained by immigration authorities over a June post that had already been deleted.
The Chennai Cyber Crime Police had registered a case following a complaint from a social activist. According to a senior police officer, the complainant had come across the post while browsing social media, took a screenshot, saved the URL and subsequently approached the police.

The Cyber Crime unit of Chennai’s South Zone later issued an LOC against Ganeshan, with the alert circulated to airports across the country, as reported in The Print.
When Ganeshan landed at IGI Airport early Saturday, immigration authorities detained him. He was subsequently taken into the custody of the Delhi Police’s IGI wing as the Chennai Cyber Crime team had not yet reached Delhi.
A Chennai police team headed by a Cyber Crime Wing Inspector later travelled to the national capital. Ganeshan was produced before a magistrate, and the police secured a transit warrant to take him to Chennai.
The detention of entrepreneur Prawin Ganeshan over an alleged defamatory social media post has once again raised questions over the TVK government’s approach to criticism. TVK had attacked the DMK over similar use of police action against critics. With an LOC now issued over a post targeting the Chief Minister, critics are asking whether TVK is repeating the very political methods it once opposed.
