A controversy erupted at the Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai after an aide to TVK Minister Aadhav Arjuna reportedly entered the temple premises wearing a skull cap during an official inspection ahead of the Karthigai Deepam festival.
The incident occurred during a field inspection and preparatory review meeting at the temple, where officials were assessing arrangements for the upcoming festival.
According to reports, some Hindu devotees present at the temple objected to the aide being a Muslim, wearing a cap inside the premises, citing the temple’s traditional customs, dress code and sanctity.
HR&CE minister Ramesh tried to intervene and was seen telling the police and other security personnel to take away the gentleman questioning the presence of a Muslim inside a Hindu temple.
Following the objections, the aide removed his cap to avoid further confrontation, allowing the inspection to proceed.
