Thrissur Blackmail Case: Minor Girl Blackmailed For Gold And Cash; Audio Reveals Mohammed Aslam's Plan To Extort ₹3 Lakh

An audio clip released by the family of a minor girl in Thrissur has emerged as key evidence in a case involving allegations of blackmail, extortion and threats to circulate the girl’s private photographs, as reported in OnManorama. In the recording, one of the accused allegedly discusses targeting the girl’s elder sister, who lives abroad, and claims he could extract ₹3 lakh from her.

“She goes to many places, like Germany, UK, Canada. She has more money than her. So, she will give me money. I can get 3 lakhs from her, you keep watching. I will come up with a situation like that,” Aslam is heard saying in the audio clip.

The recording reportedly captures discussions about obtaining money from the sister by creating a situation in which she would be pressured to pay. The girl’s family has released the clip as further evidence of the alleged extortion attempt.

The case involves Sahal, a native of Erisheppalam in Kodungallur, and his brother Mohammed Aslam, who were accused of deceiving a minor girl in the name of love, obtaining her private photographs and using them to threaten her family.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly extorted 20 sovereigns of gold and ₹50,000 from the family. The alleged threats extended to the girl’s sister living abroad, who was reportedly threatened through Instagram with the release of the minor’s private photographs.

The family reportedly approached the police in April after the threats against the sister escalated.

Gold Allegedly Sold to Buy Innova; Money Spent on iPhones and Wedding

The police investigation reportedly uncovered how the gold and money allegedly obtained from the girl’s family were used.

According to investigators, nine sovereigns of the gold were sold and the proceeds were used to purchase an Innova car. The remaining money was reportedly spent on two iPhones and a contribution of ₹2 lakh towards a friend’s sister’s wedding.

These findings form part of the evidence being examined in the alleged extortion case.

The audio clip has added another dimension to the investigation, with the alleged conversation suggesting an attempt to target the victim’s sister abroad for further financial gain.

Police Suspect More Girls Were Targeted

Investigators are now examining whether other girls were also victimised.

During the examination of mobile phones seized from the two brothers, police reportedly found photographs and information relating to other girls. Investigators suspect that the accused may have used similar methods against additional victims and are attempting to identify the girls whose details were recovered from the devices.

Police are also investigating whether other individuals were involved in the alleged offences. This includes examining the possible role of a friend in Bengaluru who allegedly helped sell the gold.

A video has also surfaced in which Sahal reportedly makes statements admitting to allegations connected with the case. Investigators are examining the available material as part of the probe.

The girl’s elder sister, who lives abroad, has said that evidence relating to the threats against her, her family and her younger sister has been collected and will be submitted to the court.

Accused Dies by Suicide; Family Alleges Police Torture

Mohammed Aslam died by suicide on October 6. Following his death, his father, P M Noushad, accused the police of physically assaulting and mentally harassing his sons while they were in custody.

Noushad alleged that the brothers were brutally beaten and claimed that they were produced before the court only after three days. He also alleged that the Kodungallur Circle Inspector threatened them, saying they would not be allowed to see the outside world.

According to the family, Aslam was held at a juvenile home after his arrest and released on bail after four days. He died by suicide shortly after returning home.

Noushad has demanded an investigation into the alleged custodial assault and mental harassment, claiming that the treatment of his elder son, Sahal, and the distress experienced by the family contributed to Aslam’s death.

The police have denied the allegations of custodial torture, maintaining that action against the brothers was taken in accordance with the law and that evidence supported the allegations of deception, the misuse of private photographs and demands for money and gold.

Police have also stated that the court and the Juvenile Justice Board took action after examining the available evidence.
