A woman identified as Syeda Faiza Kirmani was arrested in Hyderabad’s Sainikpuri area for allegedly dumping fish-cleaning water and fish waste on an annadanam (food distribution) event organised during Navratri celebrations near a Maisamma temple, as reported in Samayam Telugu.
The incident took place in RK Puram, where local women were distributing annaprasadam to devotees as part of the Durga Devi festivities. The dispute reportedly began when Kirmani objected to tables being placed on the road in front of her house for the food distribution.
According to reports, the woman asked the organisers to move the tables elsewhere. The organisers reportedly told her that they had been distributing food at the same location every day and had not faced similar objections previously.
The disagreement escalated into an argument between the two sides. The organisers subsequently alleged that Kirmani poured water used to clean fish, along with fish waste, from the first floor of her house onto the area where annaprasadam was being distributed, including the vessels used for serving food.
The incident triggered anger among those present, and local residents approached the police with a complaint.
Neredmet police registered a case against Kirmani under Sections 196, 299, 351 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges relate to promoting enmity between groups, deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace.
Police arrested Kirmani and produced her before a court, following which she was sent to judicial remand.
Videos showing the incident and her arrest have since circulated on social media, drawing widespread reactions.

Similar Incident Reported Earlier in Hyderabad
The incident comes days after a similar controversy was reported from Madannapet in Hyderabad’s Old City during Ganesh Navratri celebrations.
On the day of Ganesh idol immersion, a community annadanam programme was reportedly underway near the local 2BHK Police Housing Society when a packet containing non-vegetarian food was allegedly thrown from the upper floors of a building.
Three people were reportedly taken into custody in connection with that incident. Although allegations circulated that the packet contained beef, the type of meat was not established in the available reports.
