Tamil Catholic Monthly Alleges Admission Scam Linked To Loyola College, Chennai

A Tamil Catholic monthly newspaper has alleged that an admissions racket has been operating around Loyola College, Chennai, with individuals allegedly collecting money from parents by falsely promising to secure admissions using the names of Jesuit priests associated with the institution.

The allegations were published in the June 2026 edition of Nalmaippan (“The Good Shepherd”), a Tamil Catholic monthly that circulates within the Catholic community in Tamil Nadu.

According to the publication, the alleged fraud has been continuing for several years. It claims that certain individuals including former students of priests attached to Loyola College and others who had previously studied under them have been exploiting their past associations with the institution to convince parents and students that they could secure admissions in exchange for money.

The report alleges that these individuals invoke the names of serving Jesuit priests and present themselves as having influence within the college administration. Families are allegedly persuaded to part with large sums of money on the promise of obtaining admission, only to later discover that they had been deceived.

Nalmaippan further claims that despite the alleged racket having become known, the individuals involved continue to move freely on the college campus and maintain access to the institution.

The monthly has appealed to the three senior authorities overseeing Loyola College, the Jesuit Provincial, the Rector of the Jesuit community, and the Principal to intervene and take action against those allegedly operating the racket.

In a strongly worded editorial note, the publication stated that it was deliberately bringing the issue into the public domain despite the possibility of facing criticism or retaliation. It asserted that the report had not been written “in a roundabout or hesitant manner,” but with the intention of protecting the Catholic community and preventing families from being cheated.

The newspaper also claimed that it possesses evidence to support its allegations and indicated that additional details would be published in a forthcoming issue.
