In what might be a potential turn in the relations between the UK and the US, Queen Elizabeth II is all set to host US President Joe Biden at Buckingham Palace ahead of the upcoming G7 summit. Other world leaders are expected to attend the event as well, in what is being dubbed as a ‘soft power reception’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to participate in the events in the lead-up to and during the summit, which will take place in June in the coastal region of Cornwall. India was invited as a guest country by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to join the Group of Seven, which comprises the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the US.
British PM Boris Johnson has expressed that this G7 meet could potentially pave a way for economic recovery for the world, following the global pandemic and the devastating wreckage it has caused on the world.
The presence of the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as the Queen’s grandson Prince William and wife Kate Middleton the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are also expected.
This is the first in-person summit of the G7 for nearly two years after the global coronavirus pandemic forced last year’s G7 to be postponed. Although there were plans to hold the 2020 G7 summit virtually, the plans did not come to fruition, and the summit never happened.
