Newslaundry Caught Lying: Claimed It Acted On 4 Sexual Harassment Complaints; Its Own Disclosures Reported Zero

Leftist rag Newslaundry that is in the news for the various sexual harassment allegations at its workplace is once again facing fresh questions over its handling of workplace sexual harassment complaints after former employee Sumedha Mittal challenged the organisation’s claim that its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) has dealt with four such complaints since 2017.

This comes after Newslaundry issued a statement issued by Newslaundry on 11 August 2026, after several former employees publicly alleged a toxic workplace culture, including mental harassment and sexual harassment.

In its statement, Newslaundry said it was “not perfect” but maintained that it had an ICC specifically constituted to examine complaints of sexual harassment. The organisation said the committee had dealt with four complaints since 2017, with disciplinary action ranging from termination and suspension to other measures.

Newslaundry also said it “is and has been POSH compliant” and invited current and former associates to approach the organisation with concerns.

However, this claim has been questioned especially after Newslaundry has claimed otherwise.

‘How Did You Resolve Four Complaints?’

On 14 August 2026, Mittal posted screenshots of Newslaundry’s disclosures on X and questioned how the organisation could now claim to have dealt with four sexual harassment complaints since 2017 when its earlier declarations had repeatedly reported zero complaints, as reported in OpIndia.

The screenshots show Newslaundry reporting no sexual harassment complaints in its earlier disclosures. There was also a 2024 disclosure in which Newslaundry reportedly stated that the requirement relating to POSH declarations did not apply to the organisation.

The apparent discrepancy is significant because Newslaundry’s August 11 statement presents the four complaints as cases that had actually gone through its ICC process, resulting in disciplinary consequences.

If Newslaundry had consistently declared that it had received zero sexual harassment complaints, when and how were the four complaints now claimed by the organisation received and resolved?

Parent Company Disclosures also questioned

Mittal has also raised questions about the corporate structure through which some Newslaundry employees are engaged.

According to her posts, some employees associated with Newslaundry have been hired through Toque Content Solutions, described as the parent company.

Mittal has pointed to Toque Content Solutions’ own disclosures, which she says also reported zero sexual harassment complaints since 2017.

If employees working for Newslaundry were employed through Toque Content Solutions, this raises another question: were complaints involving those employees recorded under Newslaundry, under Toque Content Solutions, or elsewhere?

The distinction matters because Newslaundry’s latest statement specifically refers to complaints handled by its ICC, while the disclosures cited appear to concern the companies’ reported complaint figures.
