Mamata’s Direct Action Day: August 16 to be “Khela Hobe Diwas”, the same day Muslim League massacred thousands of Hindus in Bengal

In a big slap and insult to the Hindus of India, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that August 16 to be celebrated as “Khela Diwas”.

This announcement and the date chosen has brought back dark and hidden memories of the violence and crime perpetrated by the Muslim League’s Direct Action Day which resulted in the murder and rape of tens of thousands of Hindus in 1946.

Rightly so the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has equated  “Khela Diwas” as Direct Action Day long erased from our history books.

In a tweet sent out Swapan Dasgupta who is the BJP’s Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha who said, “In today’s West Bengal, Khela Hobe has come to symbolize a wave of terror attacks on opponents,”  said. He also added that Muslim League launched its Direct Action Day and began the Great Calcutta Killings in 1946.

Amit Malviya who is the National head of BJP’s Information & Technology said in a tweet“Mamata Banerjee wants to hold a rally of opposition leaders in Kolkata in order to cobble up a front. She is free to do so, except that the unelected CM should realize that all non-TMC leaders, invited in Delhi, left the venue, even before she started speaking,”.

Following Mamata Banerjee’s landslide victory in the assembly elections, TMC party workers went on a murderous spree, killing BJP party workers in a manner reminiscent of Muslim League action on August 16, 1946, now known as Direct Action Day.

The Muslim League demanded India’s partition and the creation of an independent Muslim state in Pakistan, and Bengal witnessed some of the Muslim League’s most heinous murders against Hindus.
