Kerala RSS Worker Murder Case: Member of Extremist Islamist Group arrested

An office-bearer of the Popular Front of India (PFI) was arrested in connection to the murder of Kerala RSS worker Sanjith, in Palakkad district. Sanjith (27), the Block Secretary of RSS, was hacked to death on November 15th, while he was taking his wife to her workplace. Sanjith’s wife said that she could identify the people who came in a car and killed her husband.

The district police chief R Vishwanad said that the arrested was directly in the killing of A Sanjith at Mambaram. He also said that the other culprits will be arrested soon. The identity of the member is not yet revealed because his identification parade has to be conducted as a part of the investigation.

Earlier, the Police had revealed that they had taken 3 other people into custody in connection with the case. The accused were identified as Subair, Salam and Isahak. All of them are natives of the Palakkad district in Kerala.

Meanwhile, BJP state chief K Surendran met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi, seeking a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the killing. In a letter to the Home Minister, which was made public later, BJP claimed that so far 10 RSS-BJP activists and 50 Sangh Parivar members  have been allegedly murdered by the Jihadi groups in the last 5 years in Kerala.

It is to be noted that the BJP and Sangh Parivar had already alleged that the Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which is the political offshoot of Popular Front of India (PFI) was involved in the murder. These allegations were however, rejected by SDPI.
