Kashi Vishwanath temple receives gold equivalent to weight of PM Modi’s mother

After the Modi government successfully managed to build the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, a devotee who is also an admirer of Narendra Modi has donated 61 kg of gold which is the equivalent of the bodyweight of the Prime Minister’s mother Hiraben to be used inside the sanctum sanctorum.

The devotee is from South India and has decided to remain anonymous and has given gold plates weighing 37 kg to put on the walls and the ceiling of the Kashi Vishwanath temple. The donation was made over one month ago and the first phase of the work was completed by Sunday when Prime Minister Modi was in Varanasi to address a rally and later offered prayers at the temple.

The gold plate donated was placed inside the sanctum sanctorum after they completed the rituals and it took ten workers 30 hours to complete the work.

Another 24 kg of gold plates have been used for the pillars and the remaining parts of the garbhagriha (the sanctum sanctorum where the Shivling is placed) and work on that will commence on the auspicious day of Shivratri.

It must be noted that after 187 years, gold has been donated for layering of walls of the sanctum sanctorum of Kashi Vishwanath temple.
