Isha Conducts Agricultural Field Training On Insect Management

Isha conducted an on-field agricultural training on “Monitoring Insects” for the farmers on the 3rd and 4th of September at Isha Agro Farm, Mevani Village, Gopi Taluk in Erode District. Isha Agro Movement, which is pioneering a turn towards natural organic farming, conducts these various field training every month.

Renowned entomologist Mr. Selvam conducted the 2-day on-field, in-person training which witnessed farmers from various districts of Tamil Nadu participating in it. The training was designed to give the farmers hands-on knowledge of the characteristics and uses of various types of insects.

The role of insects in organic farming, differentiating between beneficial insects and harmful insects, methods to attract beneficial insects, and integrated pest management were discussed in detail.

Excessive use of pesticides increases the toxicity of crops. As a result, the training on the methods of natural pest management gathered added significance in preventing toxicity. Additionally, the farmers were split into separate groups to view and understand the insects on the farm. They were themselves made to draw pictures of insects to understand the anatomy of insects in detail.
