A wave of Instagram influencers and self-styled activists has gone into overdrive, flooding reels and stories with emotional appeals, guilt-tripping content, and direct calls for people to descend on Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20 for a ‘march’ to Parliament.
After the Cockroach party protest led by AAP social media functionary Abhijit Dipke failed to garner mass support, Sonam Wangchuk was roped in and made to sit on a hunger strike.
Following this, a few cinema personalities started putting reels in support of him with emotional appeals like “Phunsuk Wangdu” of 3 Idiots is on a hunger strike.
Wangchuk, often romanticized as a climate and education crusader, is being painted as a selfless hero by paid digital influencers. In reality, he’s an Aandolanjeevi, a professional protestor who has been protesting perpetually ever since the Modi Govt cancelled the FCRA license of his NGO SECMOL, which has been involved in diverting foreign funds through hidden bank accounts and researching about “national sovereignty”.
The man instigated violent protests in Leh in September 2025, which turned deadly and claimed four lives.
In order to whitewash his controversial background, sympathy content are being flooded in support of Sonam Wangchuk with exaggerated claims.
One influencer Ankita Kumar, (Instagram – monkey.inc), posted a video claiming that people in Peru were also talking about Sonam Wangchuk – only to get exposed when a commenter asked for proof and she failed to provide any evidence.
She even went on to instigate people to hit the streets sharing guidelines as if preparing for an insurrection.
Another Tamil vlogger Vanathi (Instagram – the untold trails), who has hitherto kept away from political commentary, posted a series of stories justifying her support for Sonam Wanghuk.
Another Tamil actress Andreah Jeremiah has even changed her DP to show solidarity with Wangchuk with a post implying “danger to democracy”.
Porn star Poonam Pandey too has come out in support of Sonam Wangchuk and Cockroach party.
Other celebrities from Bollywood like Sonakshi Sinha, Mithila Palkar too have extended support to anarchist Sonam Wangchuk.
And there there are people who are instigating people to hit the streets despite the Delhi Police communicating that no permission has been given to the march to Parliament.

This influencer-driven campaign exposes the mechanics of manufactured dissent more than any authentic public movement. With no permission granted for the march to Parliament, Delhi Police must remain on high alert for any sinister plans disguised as a “peaceful” gathering. What began as reels and celebrity stories could easily descend into chaos if unchecked.
