Indian Army Soldier Beaten To Death By DMK Councilor And Others

A 29-year-old soldier of the Indian Army named Prabhu was beaten to death by 10 men including a DMK Municipal Councillor near Pochampalli in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

DMK Councillor Chinnasamy (50) belonged to the MGR Nagar, Velampatti near Pochampalli. Prabhu (29) and Prabhakaran (33), both of them are soldiers serving in the Indian Armed Forces living in the same area.

On February 8, Prabhakaran and DMK councillor Chinnasamy got into a heated exchange over washing clothes near a tank in the Pochampalli area. That evening, DMK Councilor Chinnaswamy, along with more than 10 other people, attacked Prabhakaran and Prabhu. Both of them were severely injured.

Prabhu later lodged a complaint with the Nagarasampatti police. Based on the complaint, the police arrested 6 people including the DMK Councillor’s son Rajapandi (30) and Gurusuryamoorthi (27) who works as a police man in Chennai.

Chinnasamy, the councillor, along with nine men then allegedly attacked Prabhakaran and his brother Prabhu that night.

Prabhakaran, who was severely wounded in the attack, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital yesterday.

The police have converted the case into a murder case and are on the lookout for the DMK councillor, who has been absconding since the day of the attack.

Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai condemned the incident saying that even army soldiers are not safe under DMK government.
