A hooligan was arrested in Madurai on January 20th for attempting to kill a Sub Inspector of Police with a sickle and a petrol bomb, raising serious concerns about the state’s law and order under the DMK government.

Koolmani alias Manikandan, a famous rowdy from the Madurai area, has various cases of murder, robbery, and human trafficking pending against him. A few months ago, a case has been filed against Koolmani by Sub Inspector of Police Azhagumuthu at Theppakulam Police Station.

Later, a few weeks ago, Sub-Inspector Agumumuthu was transferred to Madurai SS Colony Police Station. In this case, Sub-Inspector Azhagumuthu and his colleagues were on vehicle inspection duty in Madakulam, Madurai, last evening.

At the time, SI Azhagumuthu stopped a passing car, and it was revealed that the notorious rowdy Koolmani was inside. SI Azhagumuthu and other officers on duty attempted to stop the car and apprehend the criminal after learning that a notorious criminal was inside. When the police tried to stop him, Koolmani tried to slash the SI Azhagumuthu with a sickle. Later, he threw a petrol bomb at the police and drove away without stopping.

On receiving the information, SS Colony Inspector of Police Bhoominathan arrived at the spot and conducted an investigation. He immediately formed a special force to apprehend the criminal. On the same day, the criminal Koolmani was apprehended after an extensive search throughout the city.

This incident in Madurai city, in which a notorious rowdy attempted to kill police officers on patrol by throwing a petrol bomb, sparked public outrage and drew sharp criticism of the state’s law and order.
