“F**k You CJI!”: Congress Supporter & Alleged Journalist Nikhil Wagle Gets Legal Notice Over Abuse of CJI Surya Kant

Alleged Journalist and Congress supporter Nikhil Wagle has been sent a legal notice by Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record Amita Sachdeva over his social media post stating “F**k you CJI!” targeting Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant.

The notice, emailed to Wagle on Monday, 12 October 2026, demands that he delete the post and issue an unconditional public apology within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Sachdeva warned that failure to comply would lead her to seek the consent of the Attorney General for India to initiate criminal contempt proceedings before the Supreme Court.

The controversy erupted after reports that CJI Justice Surya Kant had rejected a request by INDIA bloc leaders for a meeting ahead of the Opposition’s planned march to the Supreme Court on October 12.

Reacting to the development, Wagle posted “Fuck you CJI!” on X on 11 October 2026.

Wagle, a journalist and Congress supporter who has worked with Mahanagar, IBN-Lokmat and Maharashtra1, has also been associated with Congress-supporting political commentary.

In her notice, Sachdeva described Wagle’s post as objectionable and abusive, arguing that freedom of speech does not give anyone the licence to abuse the judiciary.

In a subsequent post addressing Wagle, she wrote, “Mr. Nikhil Wagle, a Legal Notice has been sent to you via email concerning your objectionable and abusive post targeting the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, ‘Fuck you CJI!’, published on 11 October 2026. You are called upon to delete the post and tender an unconditional public apology within 24 hours of receipt of the notice. Failure to comply will compel me to seek the requisite consent of the Ld. Attorney General for India and pursue appropriate criminal contempt proceedings before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, in accordance with law. The freedom of speech is not a licence to abuse the judiciary.”

The email accompanying the notice, sent on 12 October 2026 reiterated the demand for compliance within 24 hours and warned that appropriate legal steps could follow.
