A growing sense of dissatisfaction is reportedly brewing among supporters of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin over the functioning of the DMK’s IT Wing, headed by state secretary TRB Rajaa, according to sources within the party.
Party insiders are said to be unhappy with the IT Wing’s handling of the party’s social media campaign, particularly when it comes to projecting Udhayanidhi Stalin’s attacks on the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
“Udhay is taking on the TVK strongly, both inside the Assembly and before the people. But the IT Wing is not showing the same intensity in taking his speeches and statements to Instagram and other social media platforms,” sources are quoted as saying to Junior Vikatan.
The dissatisfaction reportedly intensified over the recent MISA-related controversy, with some within the party believing that the DMK’s response and counterattack against the TVK were not handled effectively.
According to party sources, discussions are now underway within sections of the leadership about replacing T.R.B. Rajaa as the head of the IT Wing. One proposal reportedly being discussed is to appoint a person who had held a responsibility in the fact-checking team during the previous DMK regime to head the wing.
The alleged discontent is not limited to the IT Wing.
Sources claim that the party leadership is also unhappy with the functioning of DMK student wing secretary Veeramani. According to those familiar with the discussions, there is speculation that he too could be replaced.
“Since the leadership is unhappy with the functioning of the student wing as well, there are discussions about making a change there too,” party sources are quoted as saying.
