BJP national secretary Ma Venkatesan has criticised DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin over his recent remarks targeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the proposed ₹1,200-crore sea-facing Secretariat.
Venkatesan shared a video of Udhayanidhi’s remarks on his Facebook page and called for a “DMK-mukt Tamil Nadu”, accusing the DMK leader and party cadre of repeatedly making what he described as “double-meaning” and objectionable remarks.
In his post, Venkatesan wrote, “DMK Mukt Tamilnadu – should become our slogan.
Tamil Nadu without the DMK should be created.
The fact that the DMK people, from their cadres to their leaders, keep proving every hour that there are extremely vulgar traits of speaking in double meanings in their genes is evident. It is a matter of fate that we got someone like Udhayanidhi Stalin as our Deputy Chief Minister. Even though they know that they were sidelined because they spoke like this, they still have not reformed.
The people of Tamil Nadu should reject them from Tamil Nadu itself.
Tamil Nadu without the DMK should be created.
DMK Mukt Tamilnadu – should become our slogan.”
Venkatesan’s remarks came after Udhayanidhi took a swipe at Chief Minister Vijay over the TVK government’s proposal to construct a new Secretariat at an estimated cost of ₹1,200 crore.
During his campaign in Dharapuram, Udhayanidhi questioned Vijay’s earlier criticism of the DMK government’s handling of the state’s finances and mocked the proposed sea-facing location of the new Secretariat. He also referred to astrologer Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel while commenting on the proposed building.
Udhayanidhi had said, “What did he say when he assumed office as Chief Minister? Did he not claim that the DMK had completely drained the treasury before leaving? Yet today, he has announced the construction of a new Secretariat costing ₹1,200 crore. And not just any Secretariat—one facing the sea. Does he get into the ‘mood’ only when he sees the sea? Hey, I meant the mood to work. They filed a case against me for talking about Cauvery water. Who suggested this? An astrologer must have advised that it should face the ocean. Our CM will sit and work only in a sea-facing office.”
