DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin has once again launched a below-the-belt attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the TVK government’s proposed ₹1,200-crore new Secretariat, taking a swipe at both the building’s proposed sea-facing location and Vijay’s association with astrologer Rickey Radhan Pandit Vettrivel.
Campaigning in Dharapuram in support of DMK candidate Suganya, Udhayanidhi recalled Vijay’s earlier claim that the previous DMK government had left the state treasury empty before targeting the Chief Minister over the proposed expenditure on a new Secretariat.
“What did he say when he assumed office as Chief Minister? Did he not claim that the DMK had completely drained the treasury before leaving? Yet today, he has announced the construction of a new Secretariat costing ₹1,200 crore. And not just any Secretariat—one facing the sea. Does he get into the “mood” only when he sees the sea? Hey, I meant the mood to work. They filed a case against me for talking about Cauvery water. Who suggested this? An astrologer must have advised that it should face the ocean. Our CM will sit and work only in a sea-facing office.”

Udhayanidhi’s remarks went beyond questioning the cost of the proposed Secretariat, mocking Vijay over the decision to have the building face the sea and suggesting that an astrologer may have influenced the decision.
He had earlier made another derogatory remark as above during a protest led by the DMK.
He sparked controversy during the protest in Thanjavur over the Cauvery water issue after making a remark that was interpreted as a double entendre involving actor Trisha.
Targeting Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the alleged failure to secure Tamil Nadu’s Cauvery water share, Udhayanidhi said, “Whether water comes to us or not, it must reach ‘there’. I was talking about Cauvery water.”
As sections of the crowd began chanting “Trisha, Trisha,” Udhayanidhi smiled before repeating, “I was talking about Cauvery water.” The video subsequently went viral, and cases were filed against Udhayanidhi Stalin following which he was also arrested before being let off on bail the same day.
