DMK Functionaries Attack Govt Doctor And His Mother In Nagapattinam

A CCTV footage of a doctor and his mother being attacked by a DMK functionary in Nagapattinam has gone viral on social media.

The victim identified as Arumugam, runs a Siddha clinic along with a medicine shop in Periyakadai Veedhi, Nagapattinam. Arumugam also works as a Siddha doctor at a Primary Health Care centre in Mayiladuthurai.

On weekends, Arumugam visits patients in his clinic. He got into a dispute with Shanmugam, the owner of a fruit shop, and his son Manimaran over a land dispute, prompting Arumugam to file a police report.

The police had summoned both parties for questioning, but Shanmugam had brought along DMK Ward Secretary Babu for support. Babu allegedly attempted to mediate the negotiations, which Arumugam did not agree with. Outraged, Babu went to Arumugam’s clinic with a group of unknown men and began vandalising.

The DMK functionary and his group also attacked Arumugam and his mother, Shanti, shocking others in the building complex. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which has now gone viral. Police have now filed FIR against Babu, Shanmugam, and Manimaran.

The incident occurs just a few days after CM Stalin lamented sleepless nights wondering what new issue his partymen would be involved in. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The video was shared on Twitter by Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai, who said, “Looks like DMK men have taken a pledge to give sleepless nights to the people of Tamil Nadu and, in the words of TN CM, to himself as well. Here one can see a DMK functionary in Nagapattinam caught on camera attacking a Doctor. Just wondering where DMK is taking our society to.”
